I travel for work and I picked up an M-20 that needed a little TLC at a Beaumont, TX Goodwill. A bath and a tune-up later and I was on the road. The bike is fast despite the heavy frame. The brakes work well after a proper adjustment.

I put a custom saddle on it as the stock one was not too good. The frame is a little heavy but it is strong. The hardware is weak and I suspect it will not take much abuse. Also, there is no suspension and it is hard on the upper body.

I have about $900. in my Cannondale F9 and there is no comparing this bike to high end equipment. For the money it is a great ride. (especially if you pick up a used one at the right price)

I like this bike. It's the best I've ridden. If I was planning to buy a new bicycle, I'd definitely buy another Raleigh.

The frame is heavy as hell, nevermind it is weak.
The rims bent when i jumped a 60 footer. The brakes suck(they dont even stop me).The derailer pops the chain off all the time.

This bike sucks. I would not buy one and if you do you will live in a world of mysery.

light frame, and fast, if your a begginer mountain biker this is okay..its really easy to do tricks on

-Front shocks, for $260, what do you expect, they dont move, of this 3 foot ramp it basiccaly went up an inch
-Tires. right away ask them to change the tires, they will wear out after a month, and, after a year both popped.
-deraillers. they, SUCK! haha they get the chain stuck 24/7
-casetes theyr so cheap..
-brakes. by the end of the first year the rear brakes had to be upgraded but front were fine, for 1yr you can do endos, skidding and evrything afterthat upgrade the brakes.

if your a city biker, beginier and you have a small budget, its okay, biking with this bike makes me use my arms and legs as shocks since the bike pretty much doesnt have any. i bought it for 260, naked and added alot of accesories, which added up to 550 in total, 550 for this raleigh is Not worth it. if your looking on spending around 500 for a much better bike, check out the specialized rockhopper. im going to sell it for 100-150 for anyone whos interested: bloodyears32@hotmail.com, now i can buy the Giant NRS 1. huge change!

you get what you pay for - an entry level mtb, enough to learn all the basics, including technical single tracks, medium jumps, etc.
The m20 is my first bike, I bought it to see if the biking bug bites, it did, but a year later I'm still on the m20.
Brake system quite good, gear system satisfactory, frame strong and nicely shaped but not too heavy that I fell it keeping me back on steep climbs.

Plastic pedals seemed poor, but lasted 6 months until I decided to go SPD.
Gear shift not of the highest quality, the rotary grip shift doesn't always stop exactly in place, can cause slight over or under travel of the derailer.

Recommended if you aren't sure you are going to really get into the sport, but good enough to stay with you even when you know what you want, or until you can afford more.

I'm in a good position to comment on this because I've had three entry-level hardtails in the space of two years. First one was stolen; second one (the Raleigh) wrecked in a collision with a car. Now have some miles on the third (Specialized Rockhopper). So I can compare them. The Raleigh was by far the worst compared to the Rincon and the Rockhopper. It was also the cheapest but that doesn't excuse its problems. The tires were cheap and I had flats all the time. A pedal shredded and fell off the crank within a few weeks of my buying the bike (the shop replaced it free). The brakes and derailleurs never stayed in adjustment. The paint pitted. A brake handle broke one time after a fall which wasn't that bad. Everything got rusty withing a few months of purchase. The only plus was that I really liked the frame geometry and the frame itself, although heavy, was pretty solid -- although frame geometry is more a point of personal preference anyway. I used the Raleigh for mostly city riding with some trail riding, but nothing that extreme, so it isn't like I was really abusing the bike. Bottom line: spend an extra $100 and get a Giant Rincon, a FAR better bike for a little extra money.

Well u might look at this and say what a piece, but It's no too bad, and for $230, it's pretty damn good. But If I were to buy a bike, I wouldn't even consider this bike.
