Strengths:    Wheel treds,Frame,Front brakes,Shifters and ok shocks.

Weaknesses:    Frame scratches and chips, shocks need to be dampened, heavy bike and bar ends bust in.

Bottom Line:
Buy this bike if you are just starting light XC and/or mountain. The shocks are good for light bumps but not much else. Seat is ok and fronts brakes are great! The Handle bars will brake in if drop on the handle bars.Wheels treds are amazing they don`t slip on road, gravel or mud.

Strengths:    steel frame
cheap
decent shifters

Weaknesses:    wheels are cheap (of course)
2-bolt stem
50mm fork and cartridge headset

Bottom Line:
Good bike for what it is. I got it for my father used on the cheap and added an 01 Marzocchi Z5. This stabilized the twichy steering (17 inch frame) and took the sting out of wrists. Bike works excellent as a trail bike. This bike will never have its tires leave the ground. Would make a good commuter too. Seat is ok but norco has better seats on other bike ( katmandu seat is most comfy ive ever seen). If your shore or freeriding your gonna break stuff. You would need more bike and more money . This bikes serves purpose well and a fair pricepoint.

Strengths:    Its quiet

Weaknesses:    The shifting lines were messed up, which i guess you can blame bicycle world for, the tire had a huge lump in it???! and the pedal is plastic on a steel bolt threaded into an aluminum arm. Aluminum on a pedal (something under stress) is the worst idea. It stripped after 3 hours of use.

Bottom Line:
Piece of $#!+. don't buy. broke after 3 hours.

Strengths:    Bought this bike for my 12 year old son. He rides in our neighborhood. Frame is good...but that's about all.

Weaknesses:    The rest of the bike components are weak. Over the summer I replaced the stock plastic pedals. Rear axle broke, got a new rim out of that one. kickstand broke, Front handle bar shaft came loose. Front brake cable components failed. I have had to constantly adjust the rear derailer.

Bottom Line:
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE!!!! I won't buy another low end Norco bike...It should be able to withstand neighborhood trekking. I'm turned off on the whole brand.

Strengths:    Good solid frame.
Shock soaks up the curbs and the occasional pothole.
Brakes keep their grip time after time.

Weaknesses:    Rims could be better.
Pedals need to be replaced right away, upgrade to decent metal pedals.
Seat needs an upgrade if you want to be able to feel your butt after a long ride.

Bottom Line:
Great bike for the price ! As for some of the other people reviewing Norco bikes in this price range $400 and under, perhaps you guys should do some research and educate yourselves on the different types of Mountain Bikes, what they are capable of and realize that with the abuse you are giving them dont expect them to last long. If your planning on jumping a bike or doing some serious Single paths then dont expect a $200-400 bike to stay in one piece for very long !
Buy the product that suits your riding style !
Even Norco's site will tell you that this price range of bikes will not stand up to the abuse you are giving them !
This is a weekend warrior, 1 or 2 hours a day have some fun on the pavement and gravel paths and put it away bike, treat it as such and you will have years of good use from it.

Strengths:    Price, components

Weaknesses:    Fork, gripshift

Bottom Line:
It is a good bike for its price.needs a better fork but for the beginning biker it is a perfect intro bike. If you are looking for a bike that is for road or small jumps, then check this out because it will get you going without denting your wallet in a big way
you might want to upgrade the fork or/and shifters but overall it works well

Strengths:    -frame i dirt jump with the piece of sh!t and still perfect
-rims i get flats and ride the bike without bending rims
thats about all u get wat u pay for (2000 norco scorcher)

Weaknesses:    everything else..........
-seat its probaly the worst thing on the bike my god i hate it with a passion
-brakes work for like the first month then ur foucked from then on
-bars arent to bad until u go hard then they bend...i tried a 7 foot high skinny and fell off bent them
-tires(tubes also) THE WORST...they suck... this summer ive got 6 flats and 12 last year and cant remeber years b4 so ive spent more on flat tires then the bike costs....
- my report might be a little brutal cuz i dirt jump with it.....so i guess i shouldnt but my mom wont buy me another bike so now im savin up for a dirtjump/hardtail bike....

Bottom Line:
just buy it for transportation....i mean its gotta be good for sumthing.....and have fun.....its only like 200 nowadays maybe 150 check out norco.com....sop i guess good enuff for the price...the frame is pretty cool for how sh!tty the rest of the bike is...mine has no suspension but the 2004 does i think....neways if u buy the bike atleast read this post b4 u do.....lol

Strengths:    it was bloody cheap

Weaknesses:    hmmm well i bottomed out the suspension going off a 3 foot drop, you can't upgrade the suspension past 50mm :( and it's fairly heavy.

Bottom Line:
DO NOT buy this sack of crap.
You might want to buy this if you dont plan on doing anything except as a means of transportation. Good value but not for what you get.
