a All Mountain Rider
from UK and ChinaDate Reviewed: March 7, 2012
Strengths: Frame, chain guide, price
Weaknesses: Brakes, one retailer wrongly calls this a child's bike!?Bottom Line: I have this bike in the UK, where I only spend between one and two months a year. Needed a do-it-all.
Love the frame, and chain guide and tires on the street and hard-pack.
Like the X4 derailleur and shifter, bar, stem, wheels, grips and fork on jumps.
Dislike the seat, post and the fork on the trails.
Hate the brakes.
Great bike I give it three chillis, the folks at Mongoose are pretty bright, they spent the money where it counted. Luckily the frame is so good this bike can be upgraded into a 5 chilli very easily.
Buy this bike if you are getting into mountain bikes or are experienced and need an extra bike, winter or extra HT for some reason and have no intention of doing XC type racing. If you want to get into FR/DH/AM/ or DJ this might be your bike.
Critical:
1. get rid of the brakes or at least the pads, I made them fade on a steep hill so baldy that they stopped giving me an braking at all, downright dangerous, but otherwise slightly inferior to Avid BB5. Replace with Shimano Hyro M596 upwards or BB7s.
2. Seat is junk, and rails aren't strong and bend, throw.
3. Get some proper grips, ODI Rogue maybe.
4. Get some proper pedals like Superstar Nanotec or Nukeproof Neutron.
5. Post is only for DJ, get a longer one with a QR clamp for other riding styles..
Maybe:
5. Use Maxxis Minions or High Roller if you want to FR/AM ride the bike.
6. Maybe get a Marzocchi DJ and a new set of lighter wheels with a 20mm front axle.
Favorite Trail: Depends on bike
Duration Product Used: 3 months
Price Paid:
$500.00
Similar Products Used: GT Chucker. Loads of AM/FR and XC machines.
Bike Setup: Not stock and about to be even more not stock.

Strengths: stirdy, reliable, light and manouvreable, really strong frame (omg) and trustworthy parts. most of the stuff is easy to get replicas or better for cheaper for the mong anyways. no probs. at home on the jumps.Weaknesses: none so far. and with my past 4 bikes ive had a tendancy to break something in the first 3 ridesBottom Line: an awesome bike, no probs with anything yet, great for beginners, not even bad for u people who consider urself pros.

Strengths: Great for dirt jumping, good for the money, not a single rattle when you jump, good strong design!!!!Weaknesses: The only weakness i could pick out was that it`s breaks aren`t the greatest but can easily be replaced if pads wear down.Bottom Line: The bottom line is that i can highly reccommend this bike for the main uses of dirt jumping and a little downhill but remeber the forks aren`t design for downhill so take it easy on the fast downhill straights, GET THIS BIKEEEEE!!!!!

Strengths: This bike from and forks are rock solid and the brakes are pretty good to. Love the brick pedals there real grippy and I haven't slipped a pedal yet.Weaknesses: The back derailer sucks and the spring popped out in the first couple of months but thanks to Freewheeler bike shop I have a brand new derailer that is of higher quality, so the bike rides fin now. The chain wheel and rims do bend pretty easy. The rims are a good brand but I dont like to monkey around with my bike so I put some steel rims on instead of the alluminum ones that the bike comes with But I do love this bike!!Bottom Line: Really solid bike with a new derailer and some steel rims.
