Product Description

With a compartment longer that the Alloy category, the Hydro-Light series is designed with performance and aesthetics in mind. Carefully shaped tubsets allow for maximum rigidity and responsiveness.

Marin Bikes, manufacturer of performance bicycles, today debuted at the 2006 Interbike Show its four new WFG (Women’s Fit Geometry) models of road and mountain bikes. The WFG line is comprised of two road and two mountain bikes that feature geometry and accessories specifically intended to improve the fit and riding experience of typically women riders. Inspired internally by employees of Marin Bikes and championed by International Sales Manager Carol Carlson, proceeds from the sale of these models will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation with the goal of exceeding $10,000 this year.

With added attention to detail not common in the bicycle industry, Marin custom draws and butted tubesets specifically in each size in order to tailor the ride feel of every model. In order to perform for a rider who’s weight may be less than the average male rider, Marin has specifically tuned suspension forks for its WFG mountain bike models to better match a woman’s weight distribution, and carefully chose parts to improve comfort and fit at all contact points.

Mountain bike models include the Alloy Hardtail Bear Valley, ($599) and the new Hydro-Light Hardtail, the Juniper Trail, ($959). Road models are the Comfort Fit Portafina, ($679) and the Treviso, ($1179).

According to Marin Product Director Kelly Burr, ”We have designed a custom handlebar and exclusive grip system that is smaller in diameter and allows for smaller hands to comfortably hold into without excessive fatigue. Key to this system are a set of shims that allow the brake levers and shift levers to be positioned in the most effective positions for performance and comfort.”

Marin Women’s Fit Geometry bikes are designed to take into consideration that a woman’s proportions are different than a man’s. Typically, women have longer legs and shorter torsos. The WFG models are built with frame compartments shorter than corresponding conventional models. The end result is a near custom fit with Marin’s Women’s Fit Geometry.

“We’re excited to debut the WFG line this year at Interbike and are proud to be able to contribute to the fight for a cure for such a wide reaching disease”, said Carlson. “We feel a sense of accomplishment by helping to broaden awareness and encourage women’s fitness through recreation.”
