Strengths: Light weight. Rear Derailleur: Alivio:[in the Israeli version]- very accurate and well responding even under stress situations. The 34 teeth Sprocket:[in the Israeli version]- is a life saver when you meet an "erected up hill".
The saddle is outstanding comfortable - even after 4 hours of riding without special clothing. The bike's geometry make the ride position very comfortable.Weaknesses: Front Derailleur, is a little less accurate, but acceptable.Bottom Line: LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths: This is an extemely strong bike, especially for it's weight. I do everything on this bike and go trailriding whenever I can. It keeps me going. Great for people just getting into XC riding. Awesome value, you get a killer frame for the money.Weaknesses: A few cheap parts, but I guess thats what you get with entry level bikes. Annoying chain rub on the front derailleur when shifting into higher gears. I've adjusted the shifter before, but it went back after a few rides.Bottom Line: The guys at Marin really did their homework when they designed this frame. This is a forgiving platform that you can depend on, customize and fix easily. My friend rides a steel Specialized and commented that the Bolinas Ridge was remarkably stiff for its light-weight and aluminum frame. The pluses definately outweigh the bad stuff. I ride this bike every day and even put slicks on it for road riding. It's very versatile. I'm a highschool student with almost no budget and it is great for me.

Strengths: Frame and value for money.Weaknesses: Nothing I can think ofBottom Line: Purchased a 15" for the wife and a 18.5" for myself. We are just getting into riding again with our children. Given the excellent price, we cant fault these bike as entry level MTB's. The geometry of the larger frame is a good fit for me (6 foot), we put a comfort seat on my wifes bike and made a few adjustments to the seat/seatpost angle as the factory saddle wasnt very comfortable for her. With only a few months of light duty recreational riding its too early to comment on durability but so far absolutely no problems.
Recommend this bike to others looking for a good quality entry level MTB, you wont be disappointed.

Strengths: The frame. The aluminium triangulated tubing not only looks sweet, but i find it not as harsh as the standard oversized aluminium circular tubes. It's light for it's price, sure you can pay more for something lighter, but this feels just right for me. Overall well built, confidence inspiring. I challenge anyone to find a better bike for this kinda bucks.Weaknesses: THe component group that it comes with can be improved. Especially the stock 8 speed rear acera derailleur. Just won't cut it. GOes outta tune after 3 rides, and even when in tune, doesn't shift smooth enough for my liking. the stock 25 degree stem feels nervous, but it's solid and silent.Bottom Line: It's probably the perfect mountain bike for the beginner on a budget (that's me!). If you're considering racing (like me), or posing around the block, you'll might just have to end up upgrading some components. But at the end of the day, you're getting one heck of a solid frame!
