Strengths:    Straight up fun to ride, high quality components for the dough.

Weaknesses:    Isn't a carbon frame... ha

    Bottom Line:
Been riding the same bikes for years. Finally decided it was time for something new (with a 1600$ budget). After doing a bunch of research and a few test rides I came across the 2010 Kona Kula Gold. I got it after the 2011's are out so it was a pretty good deal. The decision came down between this and the Gary Fisher excalibur. The Kula Gold compares favorably in most of the components, and I got it for 200$ cheaper than I could get the x-cal. So far I love the bike, rides great, literally zero buyers remorse, definitely recommend it for anyone in the price range.

Strengths:    lightweight xc race bike.great spec for price great colour scheme clean lines with unique crome bars and seat post.use this bike for xc racing and angles slack enough for hiting bomb holes and having fun in the woods..

    Weaknesses:    none.....none....none...and ermm none..

    Bottom Line:
as you will see above i ride a new bike every few months depending on how much i like the bike..after selling my big sur i found it hard to find a 2010 bike with good spec for under £1500 specialy with bike prices going up by nearly 30% compaired to last years prices.most bikes for £1100 only had a recon fork and basic wheelsets and brakes..i was not going down the value for money line with a boardman bike after owning a team and pro last year (boardman bikes are great spec, but to stiff and skitty for hitting woods)so found the kula gold for £1250 always heard good thing about the kula's and took a risk.what a great bike for the money, excellent geometry very lightweight 24lbs and a bike you can hit the trails allday, hit the woods and have fun there..its simply a bike that does it all only thing i will upgrade when they break is the wheel sets, but they are light enough and look good at the moment...from the guy thats had a few bikes take my advice and get one you wont regret it atall...
