Strengths: Components and frame... I would say whole bike is just awsome
Weaknesses: Hayes stroker ryde are not the best disc brakes, but they are ok and i havr not problem with them depsite some wierd sounds that they make sometimes.
Bottom Line:
Great bike and unbeatable value: money ratio!!
Deore/slx components + fork with air sprung that actually works, can compare this one to unexpensive models of fox. All this make you feel riding bike more far more advanced then you would expected.

Strengths: Light and stiff and cheap.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Bottom Line:
This is a great value for your money bike. I bought the frame and just customized the components. It's light going uphill and feels stiff going downhill. The geometry of the frame fits perfectly on my body like a glove. If you can afford it buy the Alite 3000 model coz I heard that It's much lighter but it's almost twice the price. So far it's an excellent hard tail for me.

Strengths: The frame is stiff and strong, I have ridden everything from Trek (and specialized...what a disaster) to a Rocky Mountain. This bike is better. Very responsive, not front end tippy and they balanced the bike very well to accomodate the long travel forks.
Weaknesses: TBD - I need to ride for a season on this bike to find the weeknesses. I will try and update this review at the end of the year.
Bottom Line:
The Biketender....(you will understand why they call him that when you spend some time in the shop. He has it set up like a bar.) said that for the price it is an awesome ride and I would not be dissapointed, he was right. So far it has performed very well. We will see how this season goes.

Strengths: Sturdy, light and dependable.
Weaknesses: Brake cables stick after 1 year.
Bottom Line:
KHS Alite 2000 is a good Bike especially for the price paid, it is study but light. This hard tail bike offers great Judy Shocks that are light and dependable. This makes the bike good for both on road and off road. The disc brakes are a plus especially for the wet weather. I am a converted road bike person to trail bike and have been overall pleased.

Strengths: Light and tough frame that handles well and not the same old bike that everyone else has.
Weaknesses: WTB rims.
Bottom Line:
This was a new frame that was built up and sold on ebay. The bike is very controllable and just feels right on the trail. It responds quickly and handles nice. This bike/frame is a great value that is worth upgrading. I spend a lot of time on a bike and I log 2,000 to 3,000 miles a year on a Trek for my job, but I would much rather ride my KHS.
Strengths: (This is the 2006 Alite 2000) Awesome Shimano disc brakes, Judy fork is smooth, tires have decent grip, gearsets and derailures work nicely
Weaknesses: WTB seat rails sqeak when sitting on the saddle and applying torque (maybe because the rider is too heavy...lol)
Bottom Line:
Since the weather here has been so miserable, I haven't gone out on this bike. But when I have, it's been a blast. The brakes are quite powerfull, even when wet/dirty, the fork is smooth (though a bit too soft, might upgrade it's internals), the Tires are grippy in most conditions...it's a great replacement for my tired older bike, and it's not what everyone else has around here (Giant, Specialized, Rocky Mountain, Trek).

a good frame, and rims. the compnents are the worst posble components in the world though. the newer one with deore is 10 times better. dont get this bike your better off with a wlmart mongoose than this

Strengths: lightweight, Sram deraillerus and shifters
Weaknesses: Hayes MX2 mech disc brakes
Bottom Line:
This is a very decent bike for the money. I find the frame light and responsive. This bike climbs well. The X7 rear mech, X gen front derailleur and X7 shifters are smooth and trouble free. The Judy XC fork does a decent job considering it is a budget fork.
The included Kenda Karma tires were fast rolling but lacking traction IMO so I switched to the Panaracers. I also did not use the included generic (cheap looking) SPD pedals.
The Hayes MX2 brakes do a competent job, but I feel they are a little weak. I may upgrade to Avids next season.
Overall I am very satisfied with this bike. It's not a high end hardtail but neither is it a low end (quality) mountain bike. It's exactly what I expect out of a bike this price.

Strengths: Value++, equipment level is great for the $, hayes hydraulics, XT rear, deore front, good rims. Light frame, great response for fast single-track riding.
Weaknesses: Fork (Judy SL U-Turn) could be better, thinking of putting the Manitou Black Elite forks on it.
Bottom Line:
Excellent value, reduced from $1799 to $1099 $AU. The best hardtail around for the pricerange, very light frame, and great singletrack response. Handles roots and ruts well but a new fork will improve it greatly.
