Strengths:    Good components (SRAM 5.0 rear, SRAM Gen X front; Truvativ Five D crankset; SRAM 7.0 brakes; Suntour SR XCP 75 forks, 80mm travel w/lockout).

Weaknesses:    None that are apparent to me.

Bottom Line:
2006 Outland Comp LE, 15" frame. Took this for a 2-hour ride through Palmer Parker, was I ever impressed. The frame size is perfect for me (I'm only 5'6"), and the shifting and everything works great on this bike. Fork works well for me, handle 12-18" dropoffs great. Gears never failed me once. Lotta bike for the money! Had originally bought a GT Avalanche 3.0, which is a decent bike but significantly cheaper components and price. Took it back in during the 30-day trade in period. Glad I did.

Strengths:    Handling, light frame, saddle, components

Weaknesses:    Stock shocks

Bottom Line:
This is an update of my review in July - I love this bike. Maybe one day I will upgrade to something more race-oriented, but it is great for general trail riding. I recommend upgrading the shock and pedals as I have to get the most out of it. It is nimble and responsive making it really sweet on single track, and giving confidence to really push the downhills. Not the best bike for hill climbing because of the relatively short top tube so not for hard-core racers, but a great ride and enjoy the trail bike!

Strengths:    Lightness, good riding position (racy but not too extreme),decent components, good saddle, nice paint job ("plutonium")

Weaknesses:    Shocks

Bottom Line:
A great bike for someone who wants to start taking their riding to the next level if you can get a decent shock instead of the cr&**y one that comes standard with it. This is my first 'real' mountatin bike, and I did a lot of research after getting frustrated at the limitations of my old one. I'm going to take on some serious trails with this baby! The only other bike that I really liked was the RM 5.0, which is in another price range.

Strengths:    Frame, Rims, V-brakes, Deore GROUP

Weaknesses:    none at all

Bottom Line:
Well, I'm a Mtb & XC rider and in my opinion we have a very good bike at a low price, when you compare the initial settings with a Scott for example you'll see that what you pay woths every cent in this Outland. Very rsistant frame, very nice and reliable forks and brake system. It's fun and pleasure for a low price.
