Now available in 29er version, our high performance, full suspension off-road tandem, El Conquistador de Montañas, is the culmination of Ventana’s superior design capabilities and skilled manufacturing execution, and is a work of beauty besides. To produce this trailblazing tandem we paired Ventana’s trademark rear suspension technology with an ultra-stiff mainframe. The vertically positioned rear shock contributes to El Conquistador’s stable platform and superior handling performance.
Strengths: We have a coupled version in the 29er. Ride is very plush with the WTB Loop fork. We also have the bike in a 26 and the tandem is well suited to the 29er wheels size. We did a moderate high end build with Chris King hubs/headset/Middleburn cranks and SRAM 3X10 drivetrain. It all works well together.
Weaknesses: The 29er wheels naturally gear the bike up a bit and we did notice it on a few of the climbs. We just need to get a little fitter.
Bottom Line:
Full suspension tandems are the best value in tandems as a similar quality road tandem would be 40% more and not nearly as much fun.
