Favorite Trail:The one I'm riding
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Good value for the money. Well built frame, easy eccentric adjustment, will fit a wide range of riders. 40 spoke wheels Yay!
Weaknesses:Componentry a little weak, more road oriented in spite of 26 inch wheels. Tall gearing (30/42/52). 42 tooth timing rings give lower ground clearance than a dedicated off road tandem. More of an "enduro" I would say. Could use a couple more bottle braze-ons. Mine is the 8 speed version, but I upgraded to pre 03 XTR 9 speed shifters, brakes, XT 11-34 cassette, and XT rear derailleur.
Similar Products Used:It's never given me a reason to look anywhere else.
Bike Setup:XTR STI shifters, brakes. XT cassette, rear derailleur. King headset. Some other narrower saddle. Otherwise stock.
Bottom Line:Great value. With a few simple mods can be made into a truly capable of road / touring / camping machine. I wish the rear top tube was longer bacause my stoker / wife is my size, she gets a little cramped.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Purchased At:local bike shoppe
Strengths:comfortable, tracks beautifully around coners and descents on urban roads. very stable able to easily ride hands-free if i wish with fellor rider stoking it behind. can kick the arse of fellow road cyclists on bunch rides while still riding with thorn-proof tubes. v-brakes suprisingly effective and tyres roall well. get to take out friends and even girls wow, on a ride that's reliable and worry free. rides well alone and frame construction is fantastic. beautiful steel and bike shop owner reckons it rides better than his cannondale tandem. so much fun - get one.
Weaknesses:shift grip shifters- eventually got rid of thme for shimano rapid fires. forks to low and adjustable headset is average. i share the tandem with a fellow rider so sizing is differnt when we share it out, otherwise would put on my surly rigids and non-adjustable headset. otherwise no complaints at all.
Similar Products Used:none - the price was good and it was available.
Bike Setup:stock stanadard as supplied except threw on my old serfas cosmos saddle.possible to up grade but if on budget stick what is supplied.
Bottom Line:fun. if i didn't have a lovely team st khs mtb for touring and riding around in races, i'd just ride the tandem. looks good, is good. only way i'd fault it is the fork height low. a simple swap over as described above and it would be five chilli's. buy it if you want to share the joy of cycling and recruit converts to the cyclingrevolution. buy it to share the joy with partners and friends not as accomplished as your self but important to you.
