Strengths:    Handling is amazing, climbs very well, sliding drops, stiff yet compliant at the same time, light and very nimble. Looks great!

Weaknesses:    Not enough adjustment in the slider drops. I have to change out chains going from 32:18 to 32:20 which is a hassle. PF30 bb

Bottom Line:
My frame is a 2013 which was sold frame and seat post only. Now the 2014+ comes with a chisel fork as well for the same price which would make me rate the newer one 5 chili value. This is a great bike can't say enough about it. Definately a more aggressive geometry which I love. Best handling 29" bike I've been on to date. Seems perfect for the tight, twisty trails here in TX. My one gripe is the lack of adjustability in the sliders. I pretty much use only 32:18 but go with 32:20 for a few courses. I cannot use the same chain due to lack of adjustment. Not a major deal but still a bit of a pain. My large weighs about 19#.

Strengths:    Ride quality, sliding drops, geometry

Weaknesses:    Gotta keep the sliders clean or creaking will occur. A little bit more throw on the sliders would be welcome as well.

Bottom Line:
2011 version is a big improvement over the 2010 but only in the the addition of the sliding drops. The ride quality is nearly identical and if you like the ride of a carbon hard tail this is one of the best. The sliding drops are well engineered and easy to deal with but it would be nice if they had a bit more throw. Frame finish is top notch and still looks good after 5000+ miles.

If you have the $$$ or the hook up this is a great ride.

Stumpjumper Expert Carbon 29 HT

Is it impossible to get this frame by itself, short of finding someone selling one in my size. I'm looking for a new or slightly used 19" frame, to finally get me off my Niner Air 9 that i've had for 2 years. I want just the frame, but it appears that only the S-Works frameset version can be bought. ... Read More »
