Strengths:    Disc brakes, frame geometry, beefy wide 24 wheels with great ptofile (50-507)-wheels, high quality conponents that withstand abuse of your young mtbr :-). Since that was ine of first their releases - they well-thought it. That model is still in production but I see that current 2016-17 voltage jrs have cheaper components.

Weaknesses:    Shinano revoshift, specially 3x left are unreliable and hard to shift for kids. Stock "giant tires" are Cheng-Shinn cst have quite soft compoubd and wear quickly although ride great (rear tire completly worn).

    Bottom Line:
My 6y.o. son loves it, it is hard to belive that scott has really made this for kids - it has every part of grown-up mtb / jumper bike. I had bought it used /Scott Voltage 24 Jr 2009 disc model/ in 2017, had to replace only Gripshifters, grips, cables, tires. Everything else works perfectly (front hub scott, rear quando, bh mx4 disc breakes, bottom bracket).
