Strengths: it has great suspention it holds up pretty well when i freeride on it.
Weaknesses: the seat is uncomfortable
Bottom Line:
its a very good bike and if you are light on freeride its good bike but if your big drops and jumps like me than you want somthing else overall good bike.

Strengths: Overall sturdy build quality.
Front fork and handlebar assembly is excellent, improving handling.
Weaknesses: Front disk is too large and vibrates as a result. Replacement required for defect. Also rear tyre can rub on frame on impacts. Such is because theres limited movement allowance between frame and tyre.
Bottom Line:
Great value.
Great for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
Gets you through any trail. Its simplicity and reliability make it, in some ways better than specialist bikes, which have more parts to malfunction.
Strengths: The frame, bontrager parts arnt bad but there are better, same with the wheels. Strength in general.
Weaknesses: the fork! the derailluer and the triple chainrings=no bashring. Saddle weighs a tonne.
Bottom Line:
good bike once you upgrade it. I ride dh and jumps and it can handle them all. The warrenty on the frame is most likely why it costs so much for its specs.
Weaknesses: Crank is rubbish, snapped the bottom bracket on my first ride! Wheels are too skinny for what the bike is made for, weak derailier, forks are too soft, weak handle bars
Bottom Line:
If you have $1200 (£600) to spend on a bike, get a previous year but brand new kona stuff, they are much better value for money, altogether this bike has cost me over £750 ($1500) and you could buy a brand new kona/specialized/DMR for that price!! But something must be right with it if Cam McCaul rides one!
Similar Products Used: Kona Stuff, Kona Shred, Specialized P2
Bike Setup: Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Sports, Magura Louise front and back brakes, Halo Tornado front and rear wheels, made the front single chainring with a DMR Speedguide, Truvative Hussefelt Cranks, The Rest (If any is left!) Is Stock!!!

Strengths: Solid ride, easy to handle. Double wall rims from the start that I have yet to bend...in other words land properly there yoohoos, feels like a bigger BMX
Weaknesses: rear derailler, can't stay seated in one gear, it hops areound the rear cassette, Alivio = poo, replaced with a Hone. Saggy front shock, no problem though, go fastrer on your drops and land on a downslope instead of flat ground...that should help out with the impact. besides, faster is more fun
Bottom Line:
800+ dollars, not bad. going from a top of the line DH you will notice the component difference in performance, but then again I did not spend 3 grand on the bike either. Pretty good choice for an all around attack vehicle. You can do just enough on the bike confidently enough to cause decent injury, but not so advanced in one area that it leaves other riding styles out. The only reason for the 3 peppers is replacing the parts as they go away. If you have more money and want to get serious, buy a no sh^t hardcore bike, if yuo can't afford the high dollar rich boy toy, get this one, get a feel for the components and go with it. Just remember, you will never be completely satisfied with a stock-box bike.
Strengths: everything but forks and rims are a bit poopie
Weaknesses: rims no bash guard froks suck huge floping wale dick getting dj3s
Bottom Line:
ok now the first thing to do wen you get this bike is upgrade the forks ok good. now in my other review it was a joke. i had nothing to do so i wrote a gay review but this is my good review
Strengths: brakes are sweet! although i took the front brake off! love the frame!
Weaknesses: derailers sucked. took them off made it single speed! i never changed gears anyways! rims could be stronger, can't seem to get my back rim true anymore!
Bottom Line:
this bike made me a better rider! it was a good value, rides awesome. if you got the few extra bucks might as well get the jack 3!
Strengths: LIGHT FRAME, GEOMETRY IS EASY TO HANDLE, LOW STAND OVER HEIGHT, GREAT FOR JUMPING, LIFETIME FRAME WARRENTY. TIRES GREAT FOR HARDPACK, DECENT XC FORK, IT HAS A XC FORK BECAUSE IT'S A 100 MILLIMETER TRAVEL XC FORK AND CAN HANDLE 5 FOOT DROPS AND THEN SOME BUT NOT MUCH MORE. HAYES MX 2 BRAKES SAVED ME A FEW TRIPS TO EMERGENCY ROOM!!!
Weaknesses: COULD USE SOME UPGRADES: SKEWERS ARE FLIMSY, RIMS JUST OKAY, TIRES SUCK FOR SOFT DIRT AND STREET, ALIVIO DERAILUER IS WHAT IT IS, AND IT AINT MADE FOR JUMPING, TRIPLE CHAIN RING JUST DUMB, NEEDS CHAIN TENSIONER AND BASH GAURD, HUBS KINDA FLIMSY UPGRADE FORK TO DJ FORKAS WELL AS HUBS AND SKEWERS
Bottom Line:
HEAVILY UNDER RATED, NEEDS UPGRADES COSTING AROUND WHAT THE BIKE SELLS FOR @ MSRP TO MAKE IT SAFE FOR FREERIDE, BUT THE BEST BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED FOR DJ AND A HELL OF A LOT OF FUN. IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECTED AND THEN SOME.

Strengths: frame, warrenty on frame
Weaknesses: dosent come with a bashguard or chainguide and bontrager is plain gay. Should at least come with raceface or truvatic crank.
Bottom Line:
Good bike for first time downhillers. Fork is really bad and im looking at putting a 888 on it. For what you pay youd be better of buying a norco or something.

Strengths: None thats why I just bought a new FR frame from Sette. The bike is OK, but TREK F!@#$%*' sucks!!! I will never buy another bike from them. Give it 10 yrs and they will be selling them at KMart!
Weaknesses: The fork blew out first ride of the season!
Bottom Line:
Trek's customer service sucks and I will never buy from them again. It is a pretty common problem with the big name bike builders so it seems! I will stick with small company bikes. They at least still make their bikes in the U.S.!
Bike Setup: Jack frame, stock drivetrain, wheels, tires, and brakes; Sette bars, grips, and Headlock; Hussefelt stem

Strengths: Frame looks seriously beefy, no problems yet. Breaks rock, need constant adjustment though. Crank is good, woulnd't consider replacing it with an aftermarket.
Weaknesses: Flimsy derailleur, have had to take it apart twice already after a mediocre bail. Front Forks feel like they're gonna pop, not enough manual adjustment on the compression, come on dudes, give me some stiff, feels like i'm gonna go right through the ground on a drop.
Bottom Line:
Great Bike so far, awesome balance, just sort out the little things guys.
Similar Products Used: Scott YZ-2, Crap, Crank broke, Brakes broke, Derailleur smashed, thank god it got stolen . . .
Bike Setup: 15" frame, all standard as yet, looking for new suspensions before i blow these ones up. WHy on earth doesn't it come with a Bash Ring??? Trek know who is buying their bikes and its not 4yr old's riding around garden gnomes on the front lawn . . . Come on, I've already nuked my front sprocket cos of this.

Strengths: The frame and all the Bontrager components.
Weaknesses: The Manitou Slate fork. It is a pieces of S#%*!!! I took a 4ft drop and I blew the F@#$%^ apart. The first time out. If you look on the fork it says for XC use only. Why in hell Trek put it on a DJ/Freeride bike is beyond my scope of knowledge. I am upgrading to a beefier fork soon. Manitou didn't want to touch it and Trek could care less about the situation. I will never buy another Trek again.
Bottom Line:
I will never buy another Trek unless for some reason they pull their heads out of their asses. Customer Service Sucks Big C!!!
