Favorite Trail:Brechfa Forrest
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:secondhand
Strengths:Frame is pretty bombproof, for a hardtail is a bit of a tank.
Weaknesses:Everything except the frame, forks are poor, gearings very poor, brakes are poor, husselfelt kit is aceptable though.
Similar Products Used:Cromag, Banshee, SC chamelion,Orange Crush
Bike Setup:I have replaced every part.
Fox 36 talas RC2
Full SRAM X9
Avid code front, Juicy 7 rear,
Pro 2 EX721 wheel set
Blackspire device
and other little things
Bottom Line:Frame is a good long travel FR hardtail, can take some abuse but also climb back up for another go. Put different tyres on and hit the XC track with no problems.
Slightly weighty but the frame is very good.
components on the other hand not so impressive, but then again for the price I supose not so bad.

Good mid low price FR hardtail with good potential

Weaknesses:piddles weren't the best,i did have to change them. i went to a free- stile and they are just fine. 16 speed is not the best for road work, but you can make do.
Bike Setup:setup was good changed a little to fit me...i do use semi- slicks in the spring till the trails dry...bike works ,not bad for road work.
Bottom Line:great bike,i would push it ....it dose work well. the 07 is worth the funds.

Date Reviewed: June 10, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1000.00
Strengths:Freat geometry, forks, breaks are all excellent.

Weaknesses:Rims could use an upgrade
Bike Setup:As stock with Lizard and new rims added.
Bottom Line:Great bike for the cost. The 2007 is a major improvement over the 2006 model. This bike is a good allrounder!

2006 the front fork is the major weakness in the bike. However this has been changed + juicy breaks added.

Overall the standard has improvemed massively on an allready very good bike.

The frame really is the biz!

Date Reviewed: April 9, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $900.00
Strengths:Frame, paint job, brakes, seat, cranks, Syncros bars and stem, deraileurs,
Weaknesses:Wheelset,pedals
Similar Products Used:Norco Sasquatch, Norco 125, Kona shred, Norco Katmandu
Bike Setup:all stock except I changed my pedals
Bottom Line:This Bike is amazing. It is very comfortable, sturdy , and easy to jump and do drops with. The wheels are gonna bend side to side if you try 180's, i know i did it with my old bike( Marin Nail Trail) but they should stand up to fairly big drops no problem, ( 8-12 set stairs) but i haven't tried that yet. It is fairly light for the way it's made, cause it's built like a tank. The fork is ok, but it is kinda soft, although with 120 mm of travel, you won't bottom them out unless you land really hard on the front end. Bars and stem are insane, along with the brakes, cranks and drive train as well. The only thing you'll probably have to upgrade is the pedals , but that's a cheap fix anyway. Overall this is an amazing bike, and the 08 light blue frame looks really really sweet. Buy this bike, you won't be dissapointed

Favorite Trail:Who's Yer Daddy Baby
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Russ Hay's
Strengths:Great brakes (really nice modulation and feel, powerful), strong frame, good fork, overall pretty well spec'd. Responsive, comfortable ride, pretty burly, which makes you feel more confident, but still good with climbing, etc. Durable, reliable, stable-feelin'. Real workhorse. Feels like it can take pretty much anything. Sick looking. Especially the pre-08 models. Because the 08's logos look sorta naff. To me. Anyway - you seriously should BUY THIS BIKE.
Weaknesses:Pedals are OK, half-half. Sort of slidey, but they're pretty much OK. Being non-grippy and pin-less, they won't stick you too bad if your shins ram into them, though. An upside, especially if you're clumsy.
Similar Products Used:Tried a Kona Cindercone, Norco Mountaineer was my old bike, I've ridden a Kona NuNu... This OWNS them ALL by like 5000 million percent.
Bike Setup:Totally stock acid-green 07. And it runs great as-is.
Bottom Line:My first REAL mountain bike, and I couldn't have made a better choice - this can do ANYTHING, and it can do it well. It's a great bike if you're getting into biking and don't know exactly what side of it you like, or if you're just into pretty much everything, or if you're on a budget, or if you like light fr/agressive XC type stuff (insert 40,000 more scenarios here). It's also great value for the price and is totally worth the cost. Overall great.
BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
But don't buy it if you like going Tour-de-France fast on roads or if you like hucking yourself off of 30-ft-high cliffs, because its not built for either of those things. But if you're considering a bigfoot, you should already know that, so... yeah.

Favorite Trail:Just shredin' the town.
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $884.00
Purchased At:D-Island Bike shop.
Strengths:Ok this is for the 2006 Norco Bigfoot. The frame is amazing for everything you want to use it for. The brakes are pretty good when new but they become a pain in the *bleep* for adjusting after a few months. Awesome handle bars. Pretty sweet tires but will shred on pavement and concrete.
Weaknesses:Rims are fairly weak. Crank is not that great for jumping if you don't have like a super smooth landing. Seat post broke first week i had it and bike shop refused to give me a new one because they said "it is not a factory defect" yet, i know of 6 other 2006 Norco Bigfoots that the SAME thing happened to. Seat is very uncomfortable for long bike rides. Fork is...ok for jumps. NOT so much for drops.
Similar Products Used:2003 Norco Bigfoot
Bike Setup:Manitou Splice Super (i dont suggest buying that) Snafu BMX stem, Supercross bars, 26" Sun-Ringle MTX front and rear, Kenda Nevegal (front), Maxxis Hookworm (rear), 2 bolt seat post, THE DJ seat, Truvativ Hussefelt arms, FSA bottom bracket, 8" Hayes SOLE disc brakes, Snafu Flat Pedals, and KK single speed kit. (picture of it) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1303750/
Bottom Line:The bike is a very high quality bike. It does not need the amount of upgrades that i gave it, i'm just kind of odd lol. I would definetly suggest buying this bike if you're one of those people that likes to jump, do a bit of street, trail, etc. The bike is capable of all these without any problems. well...unless you're one of those people that have WAY to much knee bendage when you land a drop. Then you might sack yourself, but other than that it's an awesome product!

Weaknesses:RIMMS!! i trued mine like 4 or 5 times in 4 months also after i bought this bike 1 week later i bent the rear axle!! i didnt even do anything big but thankfully warrenty covered it, forks arent very good i coulndt even adjust the knobs after 2 weekks!! cranks are altright but i think i might of sstripped them a little bit, grips and pedals suckk!! stock seatpost it crapp i broke that within 2 weeeks!!

Price Paid: $900.00
Purchased At:Bicycleshed.com
Strengths:the frame is super strong ive dropped it from big heights. jumped it, downhilled it, crashed it :-P, and done a bit of northshore an freeride. The main strength of the bike is the value only costing me £500 blasting the shred and stuff on performance and value, (ridden the shred.
Forks are good as i ave the 125mm option, and the overall drivetrain and finishig kit are great.
Weaknesses:the main weakness that i have found is that the reart wheel buckled after an awkward concrete landing an a harsh sliding collision with the kerb, uprating to AtomLab Trailpimps tho!. the grips an pedals suck and the cranks arnt the best on the market, the drivetrain is made impecable with a new front mech, easy cheap fixes to make this bike the best freeride hard tail on the market! also the breaks squek when wet and need cleaning out regularly.

Weaknesses:everything, i've had to replace or fix almost all the parts off this bike since they can't hold up to any sort of freeriding, the brakes wear down after a few months, the geometery of the frame sucks for dirt jumping and street riding, and the forks freeze up in cold weather and the oil gets all crusty and hardens after a few months

Strengths:good frame fork absords large impacts, bnut thats about it! tires work well in forests, not on pave ment, rims are fairly strong, brakes have a bad name but work suprisingly well, the frame has good geometry for all round free ride you can dirt jump then head into the woods to do some north shore. i have compared a manik frame and this one 06, they are exectly the same except the head tube on the manik is thicker and more slack the only difference between the two is a manik would support a dual crown a tiny bit better, the bigfoot would problably handle it fine as it has a throat gusset, the paint on the frame isn't my favourite colour but other people seem to like it. overall a good north shore bike i bought this because i enjoy the shore kind of riding but don;t have the money for a bigger bike
Weaknesses:the cranks are all mountain so if you plan on doing serious shore keep an eye on them, the bar/stem are ok the stem will be switched out for a more bulky one, the fork is staying it is reliable and performes at and average (DIRT JAM COMP) no air chambers to break or no air to add to stiffen it just crank the knobs :) tires wear out fast tho i have had it for three months now and ridden it every day for 2 hours at least the old drive train sucked i upgraded it too sram x7 and now its smooth, something is wrong with the hub due to extended use and it know makes a clicking noise. overall with upgrades a good bike
Bike Setup:chain guide truvativ shift guide x7 derrailer and shifter soon new stem
Bottom Line:great bike just upgrade the weaker parts and you have a good bike!

Strengths:Strong frame. Great geometry. Reliable gears. Handles almost anything.
Weaknesses:Seat and seat post are sh#t. Rims weak as pi#s. Forks are fu#ked.
Similar Products Used:DMR Trailstar LT, Banshee Morphine.
Bike Setup:06 Bigfoot with 454 Pike Air U-Turns, Shimano Saint brakes, MTX camo rims with DMR revolver hubs (20mm front), DMR V8 pedals, ODI lock-ons, Maxxis Highroller ST 2.5 front & Maxxis Minion 2.5 ST Rear tyres, Amoeba Borla seat post & a new SDG Bel Air seat.
Bottom Line:Firstly the seat and the seat post bent/broke within 3 weeks. I liked the feel of the SDG Bel Air seat so I bought another one with CrMo rails and it's still going strong. The wheels were extremely weak and were out of true more than they were in true (trued 3 times in 3 months) so they got the ass also.
The stock Marzocchi Dirt Jam Comp forks topped out like a bi#ch even after adjustment, and flexed laterally badly.
Stock Hayes Sole brakes need re-adjustment after every couple of rides (easily done) and regular cleaning with isopropyl alcohol or they are very noisy.
These were all replaced and the bigfoot it is now the shiznit!
It handles anything I put it through and I am 6'4 and weigh 98kg!
The frame geometry is well suited to hucking and freeride (not so jumpy) and eats trails and rock gardens for breakfast.
I was reluctant to go 16 speed at first but now I wouldn't have it any other way... gears don't skip and more than enough on the trails.
The MTX's make the whole bike stiffer on landings... they havent gone out of true once and Pike's make a massive difference.
The Bigfoot is a great all round bike (once all the buttery soft parts are replaced). If you wanna bike that can do anything, the Bigfoot is for you. Be prepared to spend more money as time goes on (as sh#t breaks) and you will have one very fu#en awesome hardtail.

Weaknesses:Truvativ crank SUCKS, DirtJam forks bottom out easily, mine is done, I cant adjust rebound no more, rear hub is cheap, stem is weak, rear derailleur is loose and travels too much when landing any jumps or bunny hops, no chain guide. I changed my front wheel axle and bearings after 2 months
Similar Products Used:Kona scrap, DMR trailstar
Bike Setup:Titec bars, odi grips, race face diabolus headset and stem, took off the front derailleur and put a 36T gear with E-13 clear bash guard, with a truvativ chain guide. Had a simano 105 road bike rear derailleur (shortcage) and the assorted cssette, Atomlab 12mm rear hub, got a 9 speed rapidfire shifter. Changed rear tire for a 2.45 Hutchinson Jumbo. Need a new crank (race face evolve with BB,s and gold cups) and RockShox PIke fork
Bottom Line:I bought that bike in April 05 and IM totally addicted to it. If you ride it hard, you will have to change a couple of parts but this is so fun! I woud recommend it for everyone who wants a tough street bike that can handles downhill or freeriding (not with the original fork). If you like to customize your bike, you'll like this one!!

Strengths:Great strong frame which is also resonably light. Some nice components. Love thoses Hayes hydros, it probly doesn't need the 8 inch rotors... but hey they'll stop a train! Great value and a leader in its price range!
Weaknesses:The dirt jam pros are a little stiff and wont stand up to alot of freeriding. Had some trouble with the deore rear derailer, but its has copped a floggin'. The brakes will squeal and carry on if not maintained well. But overall no serious weaknesses.

Bottom Line:This bike is orientated around agressive XC riding and light dirt jumping and thats what i bought it for! But now im diong a bit of freeriding so some upgrades are neccisary like forks and rear derailer. This bike is a great allrounder for beginners and well worth the money! But if you are a fairly confident rider who freerides alot spend the extra $$$ and get a Norco Rampge. The Bigfoot will survive all the hucking dropoffs and thrashing you could possibly give it but may not perform as to top standards. I love my Bigfoot and will keep it for years to come.

Bottom Line:This review is for the 04 Norco Bigfoot. This bike is good for the price, but I would pay a bit more to get a better Dirt jumper, free ride, downhill bike. As you can get reasonable bikes like the STP 2 from Giant that won't fall apart after agressive use. This bike wasn't designed for any "hardcore" stuff so don't try any. Its good on dirt jumps, but some of the components will need upgrading if you continue to do that. This bike is deffinetely suited for the more agressive XC riders or light dirt jumpers.

Strengths:Bomb proof frame, excellent 'budget' Marzocchi forks, the brakes really bite after not much running in, though after using Hopes I depsair at their overall quality and adjustability.
Very "dialled-in" feel, despite the tyres.
Excellent price, the best of which goes on the brakes, forks, frame and the cranks - quality stuff.
Weaknesses:'Poor' componentry as far as cassette, chain (snapped it on its second day riding!), and rear hub - but then I was used to far better and pricier parts. Tyres can get a little skatey on loose surfaces, but this also makes it easyish to drift with some confidence.
Bars are a little narrow for DH, fine for aggressive XC, however as stated before stem is a tad short for comfortable XC riding / climbing duties.
Saddle made me sore! (wimp! :P)
It's a heavy beastie! (I'm only 10st!)
Bike Setup:Stock, considering new tyres, cassette, chain (-rings), rear hub and bars but only because Im rather fussy.
Bottom Line:Excellent 'starter' extreme-machine, be it for aggressive trail use or light DH work or freeride. I rode trials for 3 years and occassionally felt the need to ride my local trails. Needless to say I nearly died on more than one occassion and decided a 'proper' bike was required. The Bigfoot fulfilled my adrenaline seeking urges and has given me boundless confidence, except occassional lapses from the tyres and drivetrain. Soaks up drops and stays nailed on line, so long as you point it well and there's enough grip!

I would recommend for anyone seeking to break into the extreme side of trail riding or as a bridge to DH riding.

Strengths:Bombproof frame, qaulity components for the price. Easy to upgrade if wanted - the frame will outlast you!
Weaknesses:Tyres are crap. They hook up badly, chunk up with mud and dirt, and slide around like theyve been lubed up.
Hayes brakes squeal like a donkey on ice skates, but hey, you get what you pay for, right?

The lack of a big ring on the front also gets annoying, especially on XC when everyone else charges down the hill and you cant keep up. But for $30 its not such a problem to fix up.
Similar Products Used:Specialised P3, Avanti Hotdog, Giant XTC, Giant Boulder SE, Shogun Prarie breaker expert(years ago)...
Bike Setup:2005 model - Stock except for CB mallet C's, better seat and ODI ruffian grips.
Bottom Line:I wanted a bike that I could do everything with - XC, DH, FR. Not at a massivly competitive level, just local club races and a fair few 8, 12 and 24 hr enduro's.

I wanted a bike that I could ride XC with, but then still take to the local DH and 4X tracks and go hard without worrying about breaking the bike.

The bike is heavy, more oriented to FR and DH than XC, but it is ok for XC and gets me round ok. Ive put some better tyres on it and clipless platforms and it makes a big difference.

basically for me it came down to a choice - I had 1300 to spend and could either get a hardtail, good qaulity and well specced, or a duallie, low quality and low specced. I chose the Hardtail option as it got me a better bike and fitted my budget.

Im really happy with the bike and would recommend it. If you are into a bit of everything and dont want to worry about breaking things(including the bank), go the bigfoot. It will take your punishment time and time again and you will love it.

I have thrown mine off 9 foot drops onto flatland, 20 foot tabletops, wall rides, 24 hour enduro XC races, 4X racing, massive stair drops and street rides, and it laps it up. If I was going to do more XC than im doing, I'd get a longer headset - the FR one that comes as stock puts you ina tight position, not much good for XC, six inch rotors on the brakes, an extra ring on the front and maybe a lighter wheelset. But at the end of the day its a freeride orientated toy.

On a side note, its an awesome looking bike - like its ready to go to war or something.. pair it with a black fullface, and you are bonafide bighit ready...

Weaknesses:The seat.......buy one as soon as you buy this bike axiom freeride saddle is hard as hell, shimano hubs, pedals very slow on pavement, the nylon kenda tires wear easy....pinch flats greatest enemy. the marz for is a little stiff but for the lowest model marz fork it runs well. I bent the crank arms within a few months......but its a cross country crank so I wouldnt worry about doing that if you ride it nice. wellgo pedals also bent after a few months usage...did I mention that I weigh 140 lbs?

Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $950.00
Purchased At:Cap's bikes
Strengths:Beefy, burly frame. You can tell right away that this thing can take alot. Nice geometry and standover height. Some people mention that the forks suck but they don't, at least for what they're meant for! They're for xc so don't be surprised if they can't take an eight foot drop or less without exploding! The rims are good for the price tag as well as the tires. The deore setup is nice and the cranks are so-so but i wish that it came as 2-ring bashguard. Again, it is an adventure bike according to Norco so the third ring is better suited on it. Brakes are average for the price but for me they have very limited stopping power and aren't good enough for what I'm currently doing.
Weaknesses:The seat hurts but all it really needs is some getting used to. I thought that the pedals were going to bend and warp on a four foot drop so that needs a change. Grips suck when you first get them but the more they're used the grippier they get! Don't change the handlebar it feels so right for the geometry and fork compared to others I've tried. The rims are on the weaker side so you might need to true the rims a bit more often.
Similar Products Used:'04 Wolverine, '04 Sasquatch
Bike Setup:Stock. I'll replace as parts break or wear.
Bottom Line:A good bike for the category it's in and a good beginner's bike getting introduced to easy to moderate jumping, xc, and freeride. I personally had the Bigfoot as my first mountain bike and as a beginner, I found that it was so easy to learn with and I learned so much stuff so fast that I looked at all the upgrades that I would have to do to match my skill level. I said to myself that if I'm crazy enough to put $800 of upgrades into this thing I might as well get a whole new bike. This resulted in getting the '04 Sasquatch which is like the Shore hardtail better cousin of the hardtail family. I love it and I recommend both of these bikes but mostly the Bigfoot because without it I would have taken twice as long to learn what I do now which would lead me into a new season with a bike that wouldn't be up to my standards. Ten flamin' chilis for this one. It deserves it!

Strengths:-tough, burly frame and rims
-excellent cornering
-shock is very good, stiff, but not too stiff
-you'd never think riding it, that it was a heavy bike
-discs stopping power is great, even with a heafty guy like me
-quality Deore derailures and levers
-awesome looking bike in rootbeer colour
Weaknesses:-the stock Kenda Kinetics are very high rolling resistance so they don't like hardpack and ashphalt. They also don't do gravel.
-hubs aren't Deores
-rear hub went way out of alignment after a month, but replaced under warranty
-it isn't very light, but you barely notice when riding
-discs go out of adjustment after wipeouts, but then, just don't wipeout!
-discs are noisy, but you get used to it
-paint chips easily
Similar Products Used:Trek 4300 (my friends)

Bottom Line:If you are looking for at a bike in the sub $1000 CDN range, take this one out for a test spin. Whether you are into XC, trekking or even free riding this is a great bike. Of all the bikes in this price range, it has some of the best quality parts. It's tough and burley so if you ride hard or are a big guy (like me), you don't have to worry TOO much. However, if you are into XC or are forced to ride on that ashphalt stuff more than you'd like to, like me, get faster, lighter tires. Overall, this is a great bike, hot at 5 chilis.

Strengths:VERY strong frame, great components, comfortable riding position.
Weaknesses:Some riders may think the fork is a weakness. If they take 10 foot drops and such, they're right. So, if you're into that stuff, you're gonna want to upgrade the fork.

I'm not an extreme rider at all. I just ride all kinds of trails, don't do any tricks or anything extreme. So, the fork suits me just fine.

Besides that, nothing that can be adjusted.
Similar Products Used:My previous bike, a KHS crest. Specialized Hardrock Comp, Kona Stuff, Caldera, Norco Charger.
Bike Setup:Stock.
Bottom Line:I wanted an all-rounder. A bike that could handle anything I would throw at it. I got that bike. This bike is great for uphill, trails, even that trick sh** some of my buddies tried on it. I got this over the hardrock comp mainly because it had better components all over the place. The kona stuff didn't really satisfy my need for an all-rounder. It's a dirt jumper, which I imagine it's great at, but that's about it. The caldera was more of a XC bike, so it didn't satisfy the all-rounder requirement of mine. It was also too expensive considering the components. The Norco charger was a great bike, but the price was a bit too high, and I like the frame on the bigfoot more anyway. If I had the extra cash at my disposal, I would've gotten it.

Overall, this bike is great. Excellent value. Western Canadian made (that makes it ok... as long as it isn't made in the east, we're good), better components than similarly priced kona's and such. A great all-rounder. I highly reccomend it.

Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:spokes 'n' slopes
Strengths:Descent frame (bike is 2002) nice seat and stem descent bars.
Weaknesses:Cranks, brakes (vee brakes), rims are very weak
Similar Products Used:specialized p2, iron horse mach 5
Bike Setup:single crown marazochi shivers on front, shimano disc brakes back and front, supra rim on back, 2.6 tire on front, Formula front hub, lizard skin frame protector.
Bottom Line:with all these products the bike is great, but a nice crank would really do it good along with some hayes meachs, or hydros. the bike is a good trail bike and a pretty stable dirtjumper/ urban assault. (we were doing 12 sets yesterday and it felt great!) overall the bike is for a gigger person looking for a great all around bike!

Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Good frame, forks seem strong and reliable but not enough damping for serious cross country. Rims have'nt bent with 98kg to carry. Bottom bracket and crank seem ok; grease six monthly. Good value for money.
Weaknesses:Broken spokes on back wheel even though bike mechanic tuned the spokes a couple of times. Replaced back spokes with DT Swiss. Pedals supplied are'nt Wellgo in Oz but VP and I think they'll bend on a big drop off.
Similar Products Used:Old chrome moly Shogun.
Bike Setup:DT Swiss Competition back spokes with pro-lock brass nipples. Maxxis 2.1 inch back tire.
Bottom Line:Great bike for the casual trail rider. Good components and this frame is seriously strong, you can throw on better parts as you wear out stock gear. I recommend it.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $700.00
Purchased At:Velo2Max
Strengths:EVERYTHING! From the back disk brake to the front one, nothing has given me much problems right now.
Weaknesses:The MZ Race fork makes me screams from time to time but it depends on how you use the bike, it does an extremly good job until you test someone else's bike with Dirt Jumper 2 or 3. You just don't buy this bike for the fork (who would anyway), and it wasn't made for you to think like that.
Similar Products Used:None yet
Bike Setup:As it sells
Bottom Line:For anyone who starts this is an *excellent* bike. Try not getting too hardcore in urban, I don't want to know what this bike would turn into. Definately the best bike of it's kind and price range, I highly recommend it!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $929.00
Purchased At:Pinnacle Sports
Strengths:Beefy frame, solid welds, HAYES DISC BRAKES, pretty much everything
Weaknesses:none so far, a little heavy but thats what you get with a beefy frame
Similar Products Used:None in this price range
Bike Setup:stock, planning on upgradin fork to a marzocchi JR T and maybe even the frame to a devinci hucker, but might not because this bike is awesome
Bottom Line:This is a top of the line bike at a mediocre price..... solid frame and amazing price, how can you go wrong, its a solid ride that has the amazing name of NORCO branded on the side, all norcos are solid and efficient. I love it, forks fine for what i do with it but the rims might give out on big drops. Not really slowed down by massive 2.35 tires. NOt really familliar with bike lingo seeing as its my first "big boy" bike that isnt from crappy tire.
NORCO has outdone itself in producing a solid beginner freeride, trail and shore riding, for a low price, i still cant believe it. GO NORCO!!
