Submitted by bong@alcazar a Downhiller from Subic Bay, Philippines

Date Reviewed: April 1, 2011

Strengths:    Comparing it to Subic Bay's DH Rider DH frames e.g. RM7, Giant Glory, Commecal, Karpiel Disco - Norco Atomik is much more lighter compare to the said frames

Weaknesses:    It is very ahrd to find a 68mm Shimano Saint Crank here at Philippines.

Bottom Line:
Great value for my money - Hope to have a Norco 2011 Model

Weaknesses:    The frame maybe a bit heavy but grow some muscle.

Bottom Line:
This bike is the best i have ridin for the money. If you are going to get a dh bike i highly recommend this bike. If you have the money i would recommend the demo 8 amazing bike. But bottem line this bike is great.

Date Reviewed: August 26, 2009

Strengths:    From riding off curbs to staircases I never feel it on this bike. Im riding the 2002 model and whether or not all downhill bikes are like this, it feels like landing on air.

Weaknesses:    The 2002 model has a hollow frame although it makes it lighter, it makes it very noisy.

Bottom Line:
Ive only had the bike 2 days and although ive already popped the front tire, this bike can take a beating. I haven't taken it downhilling yet but i have a feeling this bike can take it. I went off an 8 set stair case today, the only way i knew i had gone off a staircase was the fact i was at the bottom, its the smoothest riding bike ive been on yet. It doesnt matter what you use this bike for cause it can do anything

Strengths:    F.Y.I. THIS IS REVIEW FOR VPS SAVAGE BECAUSE THERE SEEMED TO BE NOTHING ON THE MTBR WEBSITE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE HELPFUL

first want to mention the upgrades which are the strenghts
-marzocchi 66rc awesome feel
-hope m6 3 pot discs, superb lever feel nd stopping power
other stuff
-rear shock, very nice and adjustable
-looks nice ;) but that depends on the person

Weaknesses:    hmmmmmmm a >>LITTLE<< bit on the heavy side

bikes like these are usually much heavier so dnt be put off by this

Bottom Line:
if you buy one of ebay or second hand, just do it because the awful kingpins forks and mechanical brakes would be gone which are the only weaknesses on the new bike. if u were to buy it new, have new forks ready, but going for 2nd hand 1 nd its upgraded BUY IT NOW U FOOL!!!!!

Strengths:    extremeley srtong frame and the ability to upgrade to much better parts

Weaknesses:    the original parts for a downhiller is not sugested i went with a boxxer race and fox dhx5.0 and much beefer tires 2.6",

Bottom Line:
if you got some extra cash it's perfect for taking a pounding and keep on going

Date Reviewed: May 22, 2008

Strengths:    Very durable bike. Has a great beefy look to it, and is strong. Good Fork and half decent rear shock.

Weaknesses:    The grips, pedals and seat.

Bottom Line:
Get this bike if you are a downhiller or a freerider. Either way this bike with take the pounding you give it. Don't over look this bike if you want a downhill/freeride bike. I think the 2004 looks really good because I like the beefy strong look, but the 05, 06, 07, and 08 are very good bikes too.

Date Reviewed: April 5, 2008

Strengths:    Frame is very strong, the front rim, in 4 years have never had to true it, solid bike

Weaknesses:    Grip shift it came with, Junior T's sold them off, back rim, snapped many spokes before upgrading, and the shock clearance hard to find an upgrade shock for it!

Bottom Line:
I ride medium probably too big for it too, but it has done me well for 4 years now, quite surprised nothing more has broken on it, takes everything and anything i throw at this bike, the colours are good, ive been happy for 4 whole years on this bike! excellent older frreeride bike for people who can't afford brand spankin new!

Date Reviewed: March 8, 2008

Strengths:    fairly plush, pretty light, nice frame accents.

Weaknesses:    the 2008 boxxer race fork has no o-ring under the bottom right lower rebound adjustment bolt, causing oil/grease to leak out.
strange. hopefully not all the 08 boxxer races have this problem.

Bottom Line:
I have not ridden the bike much nor down a hill so I will update the review when I do, just wanted to warm people to make sure there is an o-ring under the bolt, also pull out the red rebound adjustment knob because it can fall out when riding. just keep it in a tool box.

Strengths:    For the price everything is great. I got it used and it still rides like its new. I really recomend this bike to people that are new to this sport or people that dont do more then ten foot drops.

Weaknesses:    the derailer man. i had to change it 3 times!!! Bolts get loose if you go fast and if its rough. They should also cange the grips.

Bottom Line:
Good bike for begginers. Great deal for the price, Even if you buy it used you still get a good deal.

Strengths:    strong frame, good hucker, doesnt get caught by our 50 mph winds

Weaknesses:    Fork sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! norco shot themselves in the foot with the kingpin
rear shock is foamed out
shifters suck

Bottom Line:
first of all this is for a savage not a atomik, since there was no spot for one, the bike was a great value, room for upgrades, but stock components suck, i am currently saving up for a risse trixxy, 66, or a domain

Date Reviewed: April 4, 2007

Strengths:    a strong sturdy frame and the disk brakes

Weaknesses:    why dont they make the frame allow a different r shock then that fu**ing vanilla r. they should also get some better pettals and grips.

Bottom Line:
if you want to ride uphill then this is not the bike for you. if you like downhill and big dropoffs from 5 to 25ft then this is the bike you want to get.

Strengths:    Frame is great, tough to find a shock that will fit to replace the rear Vanilla.

Bottom Line:
You can drop what ever you wan, I'm 220 and dropping 15 - 20 feet. Front Jr's are too soft, rims aren't pinned, and pedals suck. For the price it's a good deal but I just replaced what a broke and upgrade the crap. Jr's gotta go next. 10lb oil made a good difference.

Strong frame, great dh'er and freerider, not an XR'er

Date Reviewed: May 12, 2006

Strengths:    I am raiting the Norco savage not the atomik!! someone never got around to post the bike but they're pretty much the same the atomik just has a crappy air shock on the rear and a weak fork

Weaknesses:    the fu*king grips why the hell doesn't norco change them i have huge gashes in my hands from riding with gloves!!!The drop off triple is just crappy it's just low end marzzocchi i would rather have the manitou kingpin and don't get me started on the air shock it's weak as hell the manitou coil shock is superior to the cheap fox vanilla!!

Bottom Line:
save your self the money and buy the savage use the extra money to buy parts for the bike if you're not satisfied with the stock performance
