Favorite Trail:everything
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:pinkbike
Strengths:the bike is amazing , its GREAT for downhill it stays on the ground at all times ( unless you hit a jump ofcourse ) VERY plush , the bike is also great for freeride but it is very plush and bottems out alot but its still amazing , for cross country it good but the bike is really heavy.. dirtjumps are fun and great but if theres too much lip it just absorbes all of the lip... and street no doupt ..its pretty bad...
Weaknesses:weight. my bike weights arround 50 pounds ( you could make it lighter)
Similar Products Used:team dh, v10
Bike Setup:2005 norco vps a-line,05 888rc,snafu pedals,26" front double track and a 24" double track in the rear.hfx 9's,dhx 3.0
Bottom Line:the bike is bombproof. throw it at anything and its gonna treat you good the frame is literaly impossible to snap you could do jaw drop and the frame would survive ( probly no tthe other parts on the bike ) but i think that this bike is great and deserves a 5 out of 5 .

Favorite Trail:flowpark
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:craigslist
Strengths:The weight of the bike deffinantly makes up for this. The park is a tank and nothing feels loose or poorly built. I has all the travel you need to huck big drops and jumps.
Weaknesses:I bought it used in immaculate condition and a few of the main problems i do not have with this. Some people complain about rim stregnth being not so good but i have a different set on that are better and more durable. I also have a need set of cranks because those tend to come loose on the stock set. Other than that, the bike is extremely solid and these things shouldnt shy you away from this bike. The rims may seem "crappy" when you have ridiculously strong bombproof rims they make these days.
Similar Products Used:kona stinky, transition dirtbag
Bike Setup:marzocchi 888 vf2, fox dr 3.0, scram x7 derail and shifter, hussefelt cranks, forget the rim brand (not too familiar with bikes yet)
Bottom Line:Diffinantly worth the money paid. I feel confident taking it off a 15 foot no problem and the only thing holding me back more is fear. The bike is literally a tank and is super solid. The weight doesnt seem like a problem to me but your probably better off pushing it up the hill than riding up it. BOTTOM LINE: GO BUY IT!

Strengths:Frame & Geometry, Fork & Shock (with upgrades) Crankset, Hayes Brakes
Weaknesses:Deore derailleur/shifter Stock springs fork & shock to soft for my weight
Similar Products Used:Super8, Trek77, RampageHT,
Bike Setup:888vf2 xtrafirm spring, Fox dhx3 600#spring, Cane Creek TankHit Headset, Truvativ Holzfeller DH Bar/Stem/Seatpost/Pedals/Howitzer BB, Sram x9 Shifter & x9 medcage derailleur, DT Swiss FR6.01 Rims with DT Swiss 440FR hubs, Kenda Nevegal 2.5 DH Tires
Bottom Line:Irode this bike form the stock version for 5 months while adding upgrades and other than some ghost shifting in the gear train and the problems associated with to soft spring rates because of my weight, (230lbs's)this bike has been bomber, 12-15ft drops, gaps, skinnies & steeps all were ridden with confidence. Originally bought the bike cheap for the frame, fork & geometry kept the shock and tried differ'nt combo's of spring rates settling for 600# on the rear and xtra firm upfront.
Upgrades to the drive train smoothed out the shifting, and adding a top-notch set wheels sets this apart from the store bought Aline...... This bike now slays, just point and shoot

You really cnt describe the feeling of this bicycle unless you ride it. Its flys off drops and rips onto tranies. Downhill riding is supurb and it even gives it on the street. Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $2550.00
Purchased At:Darlings Island Bike Shop
Strengths:Beautiful frame, very nice parts for the price. it was set up perfect for me almost right off. the 888vf felt tuned for me. 9" of travel feel nice at high speed. one hing i noticed as soon as i was on the bike for a week is how it corners. its like an F1 car. i had a Bighit dh before this, and it cornered like a truck that was past its prime. get at least the frame if you can, people really shouldnt bash this sweet ride
Weaknesses:Wish it had the team dh dropouts but its ok, 12mm is 12mm. shimano drivetrain. deores about the same price as an X-7 set up i think and even if not i would have paid an extra 100 bucks for it to have the sram gear. wheels and chain guide were on the level but i ould have prefered something more. they have however fixed these complants on the 06 model.
Similar Products Used:01 Raliegh Smokin DH, 02 Specialized Bighit DH, 04 Norco Six.
Bike Setup:Frame: 05 norco Aline
Fork: 03 Manitou Dorado
Wheels: MTX
Hubs: Hadley Rear/ Stock front
drivetrain: X-7
Bottom Line:this bike is faster than anyother dh bike norco has but out other than the team DH. and since its the same frame as the team, theres a good reason for that. it made me faster and more confident than any other bike i had before. it paves the ground like its flat and like i said, corners like a bike that would cost twice what this one was. Bravo norco for really coming though with a sweet package. the first 2 alines were acceptable but this truly a class in all its own. theres not a bike in the same price range that could even touch the a-line in speed/spec/the ability to race a a high level and kick a** at it

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Strength
Weaknesses:Standard Fox RC settings, Fork settings, paint chips easily, headset-rubbish, chain, rear mech-rubbish. Rear bearings only shielded not sealed.
Similar Products Used:Plenty
Bike Setup:2004 A-Line, stripped and polished frame, King headset, Diabolus stem, stock bars, SDG ti railed seat, Hope Mono4's with floating rotors&braided hoses, Michelin 24's, Sram XO shifting, Mojo works valving in the shock, 600lb spring, modified fork internals, E13 chain guide.
Bottom Line:Took a year to get this bike riding how I liked, the standard Fox RC settings were crap-it blew through its travel constanly on small stuff, had to be revalved to suit and harder spring fitted. Forks internals and oil heights/weights were played with to get it performing well. Hope brakes fitted before bike even left the shop.

The paint is crap and chips off easily, took a week to strip all the paint off and polish.

New INA bearings fitted with proper seals rather than the shielded bearings fitted.

Good bike for the money but the Shore is a better option as for £600 more the part spec is miles better.

Strengths:Frame, Hayes HFX-9 Hydro Discs, Marz 888, I'm heavier rider and supports my weight with no problems.
Weaknesses:Only the Seat which took a beating when I wrecked. Thank God, cause that thing is uncomfortable. Can't peddle uphills with my height (6'2)and the geometry of this bike.
Similar Products Used:Trek Hardtail,
Bike Setup:Replaced Fork Springs - now i'm not bottoming out fork.
Bottom Line:I'm 6'2 225 and I had to replace the front fork springs. Eventually I will replace the rear coil over spring, but right now it supports me and the drops/jumps I'm doing now. This bike dominated on A-Line in Whistler. I'm an above average rider but I was able to bomb down everything in the Whistler Bike Park. Took drops well and jumped awesome. Easy to control in the air and suprising feels rather light when riding. Don't try and peddle up hill if you are tall, smaller folks shouldn't have a hard time though. Yeah, you'll have to replace some things but Awesome Price! 9" ! Can you get any better?

Strengths:Plush, and enough travel. Very smooth for a burly bike. hayes hydro stop it on a dime, nice seating position, and not too low, great components and setup

Bottom Line:The bike is an energy guzzler due to it's weight, can take a massive beeting, the new frame desighn is perfect for taller people, and the suspension devours any type of hit. I took a 22 footer to a pretty crappy tranny and it just sucked it up. Great handeling during DH racing, the elevated bar gives better control, the higher rear offers more durability when it comes to rear tire movement. breaks are solid, and like the other guy said slap on some lock on grips, I don't know why but they are very nice... Bottom Line:I've nicknamed my bike "what rock" because it floated over a boulder that took my friend out!! not had any problems at all, apart from that uphill stuff but hey. The only fault i could find was getting hold of one!
The a-line is awesome wouldn't want to ride anything else, anyone wanting a bike that will dh, jump, or huck off things should give this bike a serious look.

Strengths:Very strong bike overall, good parts they are pretty bomb proof. Good for techincal riding to DH racing. Good for taking big hits.
Weaknesses:The fork that came on it is not made for bigger riders. Very soft and bottoms out easily. Unless new springs and heavier oil is put in. Front chainguide is weak and annoying if chain falls off good luck putting it back on.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3080.00
Purchased At:Bike Addiction
Strengths:Strong.
Plush.
Crazy Cheap.
Ruggedly Handsome (unlike owner).
No parts that scream out for immediate replacement.
8 x 8 feels almost bottomless.
Weaknesses:Stand-over is a bit high.
Didn't come with a bashguard and consequently I smashed a chainring.
You'll need to fit a front derailleur and second chainring if you freeride.
Fork sounds likes a puppy's squeeze toy.
Frame/Rear Shock creaks like the stairs in a haunted house.
Similar Products Used:1/2 a day test riding Kona Stinky, Stinky Dee-Lux, Cannondale Gemini 2000 + 3000, but none of these bikes is very similar at all.
Bike Setup:Stock standard - I changed the 38T ring for a 32T ring because I was freeriding alot and couldn't afford to fit a double, but the ring got smashed (no bashie) so the 38T is back.
Bottom Line:The bike is a bit on the heavy side, but then having to buy a new frame when your new bike cracks and the manufacturer won't cover the warrantee can be pretty f*cking heavy too.
I had no problems pedaling it with the smaller chainring, but you'd want to fit a double if you were doing much climbing - which this bike is perfectly capable of.
You can ride it right over the top of just about obstacle so skill becomes optional - which is lucky for me...
I can't figure out how Norco make a profit on these units.
5 Chilli's all round because none of the weaknesses is any more than skin deep and it's makes me ride like I won't hurt myself.

Purchased At:Russ Hay's "The Bicycle Shop"
Strengths:It is a very plush bike for anything that the trail will throw at it. Also it busy hopes and manuals like a dream once you are up to speed.
Weaknesses:Single bolt seat post, tires, stem, chain guide, cranks, rear shock(fox sucks), and any uphill riding, rear linkage (it can only fit short piggy backs on shocks)
Similar Products Used:Shore, Team NS, BB7, super 8
Bike Setup:Small 04 A-line frame, Fox Vanilla RC(crap, soon to be 5th element), 888RT (soon to be 04 shiver), fuun serial killer stem, EA50 bar, Double track 24" rear rim hooked to a 2.6 gazzi, 26" supbra hooked to a 2.8 michi, double bolt seat post, FSA BMX cranks, luxan edition NS-1 chain guide, intense lock on grips, truvativ pedals, hayes 8" brakes, 20mm dj front hub, 12mm dj rear hub, race face BB
Bottom Line:If you like to customize bikes and do it cheap this is the one for you. I picked it up super cheap new but before taking it off the floor i customized it fully. This is a rad bike for the money and i suggest it to anyone but only if you customize it. I would not ride this bike stock.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2200.00
Purchased At:novara
Strengths:Very stiff and solid construction as a powerful feeling when hit the slopes(going down!)
It reacts very well to every rocks or obstacle on the ground without loosing the line. Super soft landing, very effective to drive it in bunny hop style, jumping all over.
good cornering compared to a standard downhill, a good mixture of a specialistic downhill and an extreme freeride.
Weaknesses:The back system is working powerfully only on hard it, when driving trough rocks, you do not use the complete back travel. Is much more easy then to get air, and can be advantage foe some kind of drivign styles.
You can feel that at Norco they keep it strong, the weigth makes that hard to pedal, but not impossible and it strength your muscles!!
Similar Products Used:Kona stinky dee-lux 02,Bullit 03, ancillotti de tomaso.
Bike Setup:888r front, alex supra rims, kenda tires
Bottom Line:It is not the do all bike. Is an extreme extreme freeride, so more down than uphill. Is great if you love to go down and you do not plan to pedal it too much uphill.
It is damn fun I would say go for it, more than a downhill specialistic if you are not competing it has more options.

Bike Setup:Standard factory apart from Hope Mono4's
Bottom Line:This bike weighs a fair bit but rememeber weight=strength, you can get up hills you've just gotta sit down, spin and enjoy the view. Coming down is another matter this things just accelerates at the mearest hint of a downslope and smashes through or over anything in its way, I put the Hope brakes on it as it needs some serious slowing down from the daft speeds you will end up riding at. Once the forks break in the suspension action front and rear is well balanced, real plush and very hard to bottom. The stock components are good and should all last a long time, the frame is well engineered, built and finished.
In my books £2000 well spent

Strengths:pedals pretty well, good for all types of riding, even did some jumping. handles big drops and still ok for racing. wicked for the price though. forks good.
Weaknesses:bike very loud, feels bad sometimes of big things. maybe to soft springs. derailer is crap. hayes hfx9 work good but annoying to wind back out all the time. rims not real strong. chain devise crap. back shock feels pretty ordinary after a while. great at the start. tyres puncture easy. non adjustable forks

Bottom Line:You wont find much better for such a cheap price but if you have the money get something else. It is wicked for what you pay and at the end of the day it handles everything but just doesn't feel nice at all after a while. I have had to spend a bit of money getting it stiffer etc but i have been pleased with how it has handled every type of riding. you wouldnt think such a beefy bike would suit racing but it doesn't feel too bad. certainly it handles the bigger drops better but you feel the consequences later.

I'm also running front shifter/der/two ring/bash so I can use it to get up as well. It is a tank, no doubt about that weighing in at 45lbs but she's built! I've taken her down our DH spots, eats it up. We've been working on North Shore type stuff, eats it up. I'm very impressed with this bike, it's set up to go down, that's where she shines and drops, taken with ease. There's really nothing else out there this well spec'd for the money. Weaknesses:HFX 9 brakes, not the best, but they still stop ya, prefer the Hopes on my Bullet though. Pedals, stripped the studs off the truvative ones, put V12s on, much better.

Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths:killer looks, great frame design, lighter than last years huge box design. great fork. is it possible to bottom them?
Weaknesses:still too heavy for a "freeride" bike. the propedal fox coil doesnt actually reduce bob, i was getting heaps on the flat. standover is a bit high
Similar Products Used:03 Aline
Bike Setup:stock - just a test ride
Bottom Line:after a good half day ride, its clear to see that this bike is more suited to downhilling than it is free ride. a smaller bike like the Six would be more geared towards freeriding as it has the lighter frame spec.

i rode it around, and while its murder on the climbs, its built for one thing, and one thing only. bombing runs!!!

the hayes hydro brakes kick major booty, a much welcomes upgrade over last years mechanicals. the box guide is a dream and cranks are meaty as. not saint, but still tough as a brick thunder box.

the saddle hieght makes it hard to stop for long periods of time, but who stops on a dh trail?

all in all, ths is one sweet bike. bit heavy, but hey, norco always adds more materials than they should. and we thank them for it everyday.
The 888RTs are super nice, and switching the rear coil for a 6way swinger might be a good option.

killer bike, for a sweet price. it dont get much better than the Aline folks. buy it, or youll regret it later on. trust me.

Strengths:Everything is pretty good about this bike. I got to borrow it from one of my friends during the summer for a one month demo and I didn't need to replace anything, in fact, it didn't even need a tune up(I gave it a couple n e way). It handled wonderfully and the travel was plush, and handled a ten feet every little while. The sizing was excellent, too. I'm 13and a half, 5'10 and rode a medium. No problems at all.
Weaknesses:Travel was plush, handling was excellent and it was easy to tune, although it isn't recomended on the road or uphill.

Bottom Line:I absolutely loved this thing. soaked up everything i threw at it. Was going to try a 20ft, but it wasn't mine so I stuck with ten. It could use a little lightening up though. This is thing is strictly for downhill and north shore.
