$180.00 | | Purchased At: | ebay | | Strengths: | Simple... single pivot system. Good BB clearance, suprisingly nimble on the switchbacks and climbs. | | Weaknesses: | HEAVY!!! WAY HEAVY. But what can you expect from a (now) older sub $1k Freeride frame? | | Similar Products Used: | Jamis Parker 1 ( also.. Heavy. Aniki-41 lbs, Parker- 38.25 lbs). | | Bike Setup: | Fox DHX, Marzocchi 55R, Easton EA50 stem/bar, Specialized Eskar 2.3" tires. | | Bottom Line: | Yes, like all other reviews... its heavy. It's been 3 years since I've run on a soft tail. and for $180 I could do worst. My complete assembly ran my $610. for a $610 bike not bad. it soaks up everything, drive over roots, rocks , and logs like a Jeep! I hopped on my Hardtail to do some XC, I guess hauling that extra weight avg. speed 11 mph up hill and flat single track helped... my hard tail I just flew through trails with out much effort! An on the Down hills with the Aniki WOO HOO! FUN FUN FUN!I give this thing 4 chili's becouse for a $600 rig I couldn't really do that much better. With this thing i can Freeride, Alll MTN.an even lug a lil' XC too. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I smashed the Spinner within 2 weeks off a 5' drop (landed well). Replaced the rear sus. changing eye to eye giving 7" rear travel, also voiding warranty. $150.00 | | Purchased At: | My brother | | Strengths: | Very fast downhill, full suspension is great, nice pedals, good brakes. | | Weaknesses: | Heavy as hell, derailer will be a problem with owning this bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Iron Horse Yakuza Kumicho | | Bike Setup: | Stock with WTB Velociraptor tires. | | Bottom Line: | This bike is definitely worth it's money. Even though it's a terrible climber, this bike should not be climbing anyway. I made that mistake, because I live in a very hilly area, and having a climbing bike would be very good. The bike is damn heavy, about 40-45 pounds, but helps when you're mobbing down hill über fast. The suspension on this bike as far as I can tell has been really good. Now this bike is meant for downhill and freeride, not XC like I have been using it for. Great bike for only costing $1000 brand spankin' new. I would recco this bike to people just getting into downhill and freeriding. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$900.00 | | Purchased At: | performance | | Strengths: | strong frame, seems to be indestructable! feels like a cady at 35+ miles per hr. | | Weaknesses: | very heavy, not the sharpest on quick turns. very low quality stock components. | | Bike Setup: | Manitou Travis 150's, Fox Vanilla RC w/propedal, launch freerides,Sram X0 shifters, X9 deraileur, pg 990 cassette,Race Face stem among other goodies. | | Bottom Line: | Read lots of bad reviews before buying. ranging from too heavy to downright piece of crap. Still bought it! initial price was a bit high for stock set up but fell in love with it when I saw it. frame is awsome, It has taken some big hits at 20+miles per hr and the damn thing seems to be down right indestructable! true that it is a heavy beast but after replacing some key components, let me tell you that it is now a very sweet ride. not the fastest but on some really steep ascents I can tell you that I have been able to pass up lots of snooty guys on their 25 lb overpriced XC rigs. $3-5K bikes can only do so much, the rest is up to the rider! all in all I have used this bike for single track,xc,freeride, downhill, as well as for 4k+
foot acents and love how it works! out of the box it is not that great of a bike but if you are strapped for cash buy it if anything for the frame and upgrade it as your cashflow allows. As for the weight issue, just get on the darn thing, pedal up some steep ascents and develop some leg muscle, after that it won't be much of an issue. you won't be winning XC races but you'll sure have a heck of a great time participating. only giving it 4 overall chillis as is out of the box. but once upgraded it's a full 5, no doubt. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$700.00 | | Purchased At: | RScycle | | Strengths: | Beefy frame, a beat around feel enables you to really let loose with it, decent rear shock, good looks, cheap DH/FR bike, its so crappy you don't really care what you are going to do with it so you can really have fun and not worry about being conservative! The cranks are great. | | Weaknesses: | Bad brakes, on multiple occaisions I have gone off the trail because the stock brakes just don't have the power to stop the 45lb bike. The integrated shifter and brake lever reduces overall cockpit quality. Rear mech is low quality. stock pedals need replacement: the spinner ammo fork is garbage! replace as soon as possible. | | Bike Setup: | Stock- soon a domain 318 will replace the spinner ammo. | | Bottom Line: | If you have the money dish out a little more on a more expensive bike because the frame on this bike is good, but the components are overall things that you would want to avoid. If you are buying it, you are buying it from RSC and they are a decent company but the probuild is not on par with a LBS tune. Many things will need replacing but that is why the bike is soo cheap to begin with. Alot of potential but the starting package is a little weak.
Also RSC claims to have sold me and 09 model but it looks just like the 08.

Ironhorse warrior 1.3. Diamondback coil. | | Bike Setup: | mostly stock. Mantiou rear shock, panaracer rear tire. | | Bottom Line: | I love this bike but I'm already working on it to keep it alive. I've ridden it hard, if only a half dozen times. That fork is the biggest issue and the seat post busted on me just today. The linkage under the seat is poorly designed but can be replaced cheaply and easily. They say this frame is one to take with you and just upgrade you accessories. I agree. The components are entry level, but the geometry is wonderful (little peddlebob and great handling)and the thing is tough. I plan to hold on to mine for a least a couple years. If you can get on for cheap, leap on it. I wouldn't pay more than 800 dollars, but it is a good bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$550.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bike | | Strengths: | Strong beefy frame which has you chuckling over big drops. The rear shock is decent, but might want to upgrade later. Wheelset is good, drivetrain is adequate and it looks like an absolute monster. Simple single pivot suspension. | | Weaknesses: | The Spinner Ammo 1 is a joke. It rides like it's rigid and packs down when descending. It has no adjustment except for the 'mystery knob' which supposedly sets preload. On my bike it didn't seem to adjust anything at all. The stock pedals are crummy, and the bike comes with no chain tensioner which in my case caused random gear changes over bumps. Oh, and it weighs 42.5 pounds, which could be good or bad for some riders. The shimano alivio components are humiliating too, and are more suited to grandpa bikes, so I'm changing that too. | | Similar Products Used: | Avent Jibster set up for jumping and urban assault. Mongoose Thunderball and Teocali. | | Bike Setup: | '03 Marzocchi DJ1 (150mm) Truvativ 2-chainring tensioner, Kenda Kinetics 2.6, Stone Edge 50mm Stem 0deg rise. | | Bottom Line: | It's great for the price, but the fork has GOT to go, not only did it suck, but it weighs about 7-8 pouinds. It should be noted that Mine is an '07, not an '06. The bike is beefy and sturdy but needs various upgrades, namely the fork (Rock Shox Domain?) and I strongly suggest a chain tensioning system. Not only will you stay in gear, but it kills a bit of pedal feedback.
At first I wasn't thrilled with the bike, but with the upgrades and decreased weight, I love it and am looking forward to building it up more. With a proper set-up it rides like a jump bike with 6 inches of travel.
Basically it's a lovely frame and wheelset, everything else needs work, but what do you expect for such a cheap freeride bike? It's a build-up bike but it's an absolute guilty pleasure.
I give it a 3 overall rating, butg with better parts a 4 or 5 | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This bike is a steal. This is a great beginners/budget freeride bike. Buy it, tune it up correctly and you won't go wrong. The frame is awesomely strong, and looks soo good. A lot of people previously have said the Spinner fork sucks; that was my first impression too. I waited a while for it to properly break in and adjusted the rebound to fast(clockwise). Now its awesome. It works well and is very plush. I agree its not the best fork in the world, but if you really think its so crappy, just sell it and get a new one. Big deal. The only problems for me right now are disc brake rub, and mediocre shifting. All of which can be solved when tuned correctly. About the 350lb spring you get from stock, send IH an email with proof of purchase and they'll send you a bigger spring for FREE. I received a 550lb coil and now its unstoppable.
This bike has got lots of potential. The frame is great quality. Definitely could do with some upgrades to make this bike sick!
Before you rate this bike poorly, make sure the setup is tuned correctly. I love my Aniki. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$528.00 | | Strengths: | i think that this bike has good brake althought there the wrong way round for me(im from England) it also has good frame but the rear shock not so great. | | Weaknesses: | the rear shock could do with upgradeing nothing much wrong with it but can be bottomed out when goin BIG the forks could also be change for some better upmarket ones as my are a little iffy coz of da battering they go through | | Bike Setup: | stock exept for my Fi'zi:k FREEK saddle | | Bottom Line: | this is a quality bike if you don't want to do big things like 12ft+ stuff it also isn't the greatest Dirt jumper as it is more for freestyle than any other thing it can also do downhill which is effortless on it. Don't use it for XC (cross country) as it will not work it as its just not work the extra effort you have to put in and it won't give you the edge you want or like it will free style. i would recommend this Bike to people who like downhill and freestlye as it is a great bike for people who are good and want to increase the riding level | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$960.00 | | Purchased At: | RS Cycle Co. | | Strengths: | For 2007 the components list isn't half bad: FSA crank and headset, WTB wheels and saddle, Fox Vanilla R 8.75x8.5 rear shock, ITS Ninja 26"x2.6"/26"x2.35" (Front/Rear), Shimano Alivio Front/Rear Derailleur, along with intergrated shift and brake levers. The frame design is sweet and I love the paint job! Its a great bike and has potential to tear up downhill, but needs upgrades here and there. | | Weaknesses: | Spinner Ammo front shock is mainly for DJ (dirt jumping) and it is simply not the type of fork meant for freeride. Still a very solid fork and is worth keeping around until you upgrade. The rear spring that comes stock with the shock is weak so contact Iron Horse for a stronger coil. The Tektro Io brakes are NOT stainless and will be prone to rust from what I've heard, for now they are fine. Limited travel due to current rear shock dimensions. The frame is designed for 7", but it can only handle roughly 5.5" in stock form. Lastly is the weight, which sucks trying to go uphill at a steep and severly elevated peak, but it can be an asset going down hill. | | Similar Products Used: | Mongoose from Wal-Mart (wait to buy the Aniki, everything below it pales in comparison) | | Bike Setup: | Stock at the moment. | | Bottom Line: | For the price you seriously can't go wrong! It is definately for a tuner though because the stock components are good, but with the right parts this bike could be stellar! Iron Horse has a prestigious, if albeit brief, history, but with champion racers such as Sam Hill and Sabrina Jonnier you can't help but be glad you are in Iron Horse's saddle. I love this bike and I suggest that you buy it and build it up, but if you have the money save up for a more aggressive bike such as Iron Horse's Sunday series of bikes. This bike is mainly for freeride, but has downhill potential. Trail and cross country riders should look elsewhere as the weight and stock components won't give you the edge you are looking for. If you are a beginner like myself and want to grow with your bike, the Aniki is the bike for you. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The front fork is famous for being made fun of PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS BIKE IF YOU TURN THE LEFT KNOB ON THE BIKE ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT THE REBOUND WILL BE FAST, IT WILL BE PLUSHY AND COMFORTABLE. so try the knob thing and you'll like it. | | Similar Products Used: | Ironhorse maverick DS 2.3 (Nice bike but not good for dirt jumping) Ironhorse Yakuza Sachem 3.0 (nice bike but i dont like hardtails) | | Bike Setup: | Stock Everything and i'm planning to get a new fork next year | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that this bike is MORE bang for your buck, cuz of the frame, shocks (Com on It's Freakin FOX!) and the wheels. I'll charge 20 miles on the trails one day and be clearing 12 ft gaps the next. The derailers arent the greatest for trail riding, and obviously the thing weighs 40 lbs, but chances are, your going to ride it home, not carry it home. The rear spring needs to be upgraded, but until you do, feel free to bottom it out like a mutha, cuz your not going to break the frame. Well, at least I cant at 170 lbs. Spinner shocks, as far as I know, doesnt even exist anymore, so dont bother looking for any customer service on the fork. For the money, The +'s far outweigh the -'s on this bike. $550.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bike | | Strengths: | The bike seems really stable, especially when decending steep un-even grades or even a couple big flights of stairs. I'm really amazed. Accidentally catching a deep rut or softball sized rock while you are hauling ass down a revine is no big deal at all. It comes with some decent components including the WTB Dual Duty Freeride Wheels that I have seen on much more expensive bikes. Additionally, the components seem to work very well with the bike. I have yet to have a chain derail and have put about 200 miles on the bike which has included a fair amount of jumping and shooting down flights of stairs. It looks more expensive than it really is. It also looks pretty burly and seems to get a lot of complements rather it be out on the trail or crusing around the local university. | | Weaknesses: | Its HEAVY!!! Mine weighs 45lbs or more with slime in the tires, a Mantiou Swinger Coil shock, and a wireless cyclometer. All the components on the bike seem really durable but the Spinner Ammo fork just SUCKS as far as the performace is concerned, so plan on upgrading that if you are going to keep the bike for very long. The rear shock isn't much better and with the stock spring is really soft and will bottom out off a 2ft. drop. Email Iron Horse when you get the bike and they will send you a 450lb spring which helps. Unless you upgrade the rear shock though, you are only getting about 5 INCHES OF TRAVEL. I upgraded to a Manitou Swinger Coil 6-way Shock (8.75x2.75) and now get approx 6.5" of travel. You may want to find a 9"x3" shock if you can and want the full 7" of travel. Also, the brakes are good, but if you ride a bike with similar 8" hydraulic brakes, you are going to want to upgrade. | | Similar Products Used: | I have riden a IronHorse 7 Point Freeride bike, Yakuza Kumicho, and a Trek Fuel trail bike. | | Bike Setup: | Stock with a Manitou Swinger Coil 6-way rear shock (8.75 x 2.75) and my Manitou Sherman Slider Plus fork is in the mail... | | Bottom Line: | For the money the bike is great. Its definetely something to consider if you are interested in getting into riding again and want a bike that take some abuse.
Here are my recommendations though.
1. Upgrade the Suspension
2. If all you ride are trails, there are better bikes out there. This bike is HEAVY and you WILL get passed by 70 year old men on hardtails riding most trails. It is however much more trail friendly than my friends' lighter weight IronHorse 7Point and Yakuza Kumicho Freeride bikes. In other words, if you live in Florida or any other place without any signifcant elevation changes FORGET IT. You will be miserable.
3. If you are interested in doing any dirt jumping or launching off curbs or anything else like that, FORGET IT. This bike DOES NOT like to fly. It simply absorbs little jumps and bumps instead of launching off them. I can bunnyhop small trash cans on BMX bikes. I'm lucky if I can bunnyhop up a curb on this thing. If you want to be doing any flying on this thing its gonna have to be off the side of a cliff. You can also generally forget wheelies and manuals. Compared to a BMX bike or hardtail mountain bike, its nearly impossible. That is what makes this bike so good on certain terrain though. Where old men pass me going up trails, I quickly catch up in the decents. Its kind of like riding a dirtbike without the engine. You can simply catipult yourself into revines or down the sides of mountains way faster than you could on any type of other bike. Ditches and boulders are no worry. Just stay loose and let the bike sort everything out. The bike will also shoot UP AND DOWN staircases and off the occasional loading dock with ease.
With the proper upgrades it could definetely come close to performing as good as some other freeride bikes in the $2k-$3k range. I'll probably end up upgrading to a Santa Cruz Heckler or Nomad within the next year however. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

| | Bottom Line: | The bike from the day of purchase was awesome. Riding over time the components either broke, or were no longer good enough for aggressive riding, but what do you expect when you buy a dh/fr bike for under $2000. The single pivot frame is solid as a rock-and perfect for upgrading. It is cheaper though to buy a complete bike pimped out with all the great components but if your like me, you cant afford a high dollar bike right off the bat so I built mine up. This bike is awesome for beginners-and when your riding abilities get better you can upgrade as you progress which to me is also a plus. So overall the bike is awesome in every way. Now if you've been riding for years, this bike won't impress you unless it's fully upgraded. But to a beginner starting and moving their way up into downhilling and freeride this bike will get you where you need to be. My opinion of this bike stays unchanged as with all the other reviews I've posted. $549.00 | | Purchased At: | Randall Scott | | Strengths: | For the price this bike is well built and looks great. The frame is really amazing! All components seem decent, not top of the line but more than good enough for me! | | Weaknesses: | Weak rear coil,I notified Iron Horse customer service to see if the would send me a 650 or 700#, have not heard back from them yet? | | Similar Products Used: | Marin Rift Zone (full suspension), Schwinn Moab (hardtail) | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | I am a cross country racer and I wanted a rugged, well built trail bike to ride/train agressively. The weight was not a concern of mine(40#), actually I wanted the additional weight to make my training more demanding and difficult although I do not think for a Freeride bike it is that heavy? I am more than happy with the price, the quality and Randall Scott who delivered incredibly quick! If you are looking for a heavy duty trailbike that can take abuse and you don't mind the extra weight, I highly recommend this bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I would never buy one. | | Similar Products Used: | Mountain Cycle products and Santa Cruz | | Bike Setup: | The bike was brought into our shop for repairs, it was bought at Dick's Sporting goods I think. First of all, Dick's needs to hire people who know what the heck they are doing. All too often customers come into our shop with bikes that are incorrectly built (from Dick's). | | Bottom Line: | I guess for someone who is new to the sport or never had a full squish before would like the bike at first... UNTILL they bought a real bike that is. Iron Horse has great super freeride DHers like the Sunday but this model sucks. As a shop owner, I would point you in another direction. $549.00 | | Purchased At: | RandleScott | | Strengths: | Almost everything | | Weaknesses: | Rear coil/shock. Get the 700lb from IH. The pdeeals are... ok, but they will be changed out soon. the drivetrain is SRAMS lower end x4 stuff, but its not bad. | | Similar Products Used: | Non, first freeride rig | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | Wow. First ride i toook, i was AMAZED. This thing R-I-P-S!! What used to take me 30 minutes took me 10, and we stopped a few times. Its the frame is INSANELY strong, as is the fork. The rear shock is a piece of crap, but the heavier spring is going to help a buttload. Get new peddals and maybe go up to the x7 or x8 series drive train. Hydrolic disk breaks would be a good idea but not nessicary.
If your looking to get into freerid but dont want to drop a ton of money, get this. if you want a platform to build on, get this. if you want to ride XC, DO NOT GET IT. Its almost 40 pounds for the 19 inch model.
All in all, this bike is, in one word, amazing. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$824.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bicycle | | Strengths: | Insanely beefy frame. I weigh 150 pounds and got the 17 inch and I can't imagine ever breaking the frame. Ever. Good stem, good bar, good crank, good 8 inch Hayes mechanical brakes, good shifters. | | Weaknesses: | The Shimano Alivio derailleurs suck. I need to tune them a little, but I'm sure they'll break soon. The rear spring is way way too weak. I weigh 150 pounds and it collapses way too much when I'm on the bike. I can bottom it out doing a 2 foot drop. The seat isn't comfy, but isn't that bad. It weighs a ton! 36 pounds for the 17 inch. | | Similar Products Used: | None. This is my first performance bike. | | Bike Setup: | I replaced the rear spring with a cheapie off of eBay and the ride is stiffer, but also better for big drops and faster downhill riding. I cut off half an inch from each bar end since the bar width was too much for going around trees. I also cut off some of the seat post tube since I'm not using it. | | Bottom Line: | Overall a great dual suspension bike that's ready to be decked out in better parts. I don't know how much weight you will be able to drop once you go with better parts, but I can't imagine getting this bike to weigh 10 pounds less without modifying the frame. Hint: Take a look at other Iron Horse dual suspension bikes to see how to modify the rear suspension for some weight savings. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

DOWNHILL BIKE ONLY. because its very heavy. $800.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo.com | | Strengths: | This bike has a huge frame that is great for jumping off things and if you fall it doesnt matter much. It is very easily upgradealbe and is perfect for anything you want to do. Its wieght is helpful for going down hills while mountain biking b/c you can gain a lot of extra momentum | | Weaknesses: | It is very heavy so it is not as easy to control, and some of the items such as fork or the rear derailer will need to be changed after some hard riding. Also its chain is too long for mine b/c i had the third gear in the front removed for a bash guard so that needs to be changed for a smaller one or it will slip alot. | | Similar Products Used: | Special P1 adn P2 | | Bike Setup: | I changed out the fork with Manitou Minute III, put Loco rims on, upgaded the rear derailer to SRAM 7.0, and SRAM X.7 Impulse trigger shifter 9-spd, put 2.4 WTB TimberWolf Freeride tires on, and SRAM PC-991 9-spd Chain. | | Bottom Line: | This bike pretty much kicks ass if you dont do a lot of stupid stuff. $800.00 | | Purchased At: | Randall Scott | | Strengths: | This is an update after 400 miles of riding, on an earlier review, after lightening the bike five lbs and revisiting it after the changes. Read my other review. I still like the bike, but I like it lighter. | | Weaknesses: | Heavy, slow up hill. Modified the OEM setup to get some quickness up short hills and more efficient pedaling on single track. | | Similar Products Used: | Hard tail Iron Horse single speed XC conversion, compact crank, 2 speeds with two front rings, Paul Melvin, single rear cog. Friction shifter on bar, Thudbuster.
| | Bike Setup: | Replaced bar and stem with XC products, ligher race face seat post, Planet Bike ARS seat with gel cover, removed gears, except for front derailleur, kept left hand Alivo shifter, 26 tooth race face granny swap, IRD chain, Paul Melvin tensioner, gusset R singles speed kit, 18 tooth cog, Conti Vertical Protections, with STans No Tubes. Heavy spring replacement on OEM shock. WTB grease guard pedals.
| | Bottom Line: | At 38.5 lbs OEM, with the Moto raptor 2.4's, it was a heavy bike. The bike was slow, very stable, predictable and kind on your back, but fast downhill and over banging tree roots. It was painfully slow getting you over less than ideal trail on single track, it is after all, a high bouncy bike, with lots of single pivot travel and an up right riding position. It can run over things with a smile, BUT pushing the bike up to speed on loose stuff on single track up a slight grade is a JOB and a half.
I kept the same geometry, but got a lighter stem and bar, seat post. I dumped the gears, but kept a 26 tooth granny, to have a hill gear but a more usable trail gear in deep sand or bad trail, an 18 cog with the 32 ring is pretty much right, for top with this bike. The Pauls unit and the Gusset R, with an 18 cog saved more weight, and geve me two quick shifting gears that DO NOT FOUL UP!
The Contininal Vertical Pro's work well with Stan's, and are a lot lighter, and much faster rolling than the Moto's on hard pack, but not as good in loose sand or as good a pure Free Ride tire. I saved over two pounds on the tires with Stans No Tubes. The WTB greae guard pedals are light, and can be greased with a mini gun.
Bike weight is now 33.7 and is much quicker and more responsive. The 26 tooth granny is very useful both climbing and running single track, and with those two extra teeth, easier to shift two with a compact crank. My overall rides are less tiring and faster in overall time. I am losing some big hit capabilty, to gain some ease in getting to the far trails to ride. Feels about 20% easier to pedal in the same cog without the gears, clean chain line, and less rotational weight.
Bear in mind, tires are seasonal local personal voodoo.
Moto's were better downhill, when you hit sand. The light feel of the No Tubs set up is very different, playing with a shock pump and spring preload, and tire pressure is critical to fine tune things. Until I hit hurricane season, and deep summer the jury is out on Jungle Chili ratings for the Continentals.
The lighter version is a nice bike, the few hills I have, I can clean sweetly in the 18 cog now, that I could not clean at all in the 18 in the OEM bike. I crank and never miss the shift to the granny.

When I tried to email ironhorse about the problems I was having I got no response, when I called them and left a message I got no repsonse, I was thoroughly not satisfied with their customer service. | | Similar Products Used: | Fastrax Monocoque(wish I hadnt ever gotten rid of this rare one and if anyone has one they dont want I will buy) | | Bike Setup: | As stated..... | | Bottom Line: | Now that I have made the few swaps it rides like a dream, can just roll over and through anything, but dont expect it to conquer large steep uphills. $800.00 | | Purchased At: | Randal Scott | | Strengths: | STRONG, nice geometry for big guys with short legs and long arms. Good simple suspension, agile, big disc's, good price point. Saves back and knees, and standover height is good for short legged folk, 28" in seam, is not a problem. | | Weaknesses: | Stock 300 lb spring is useless, a 650 is good for my 190 lbs, makes the bike feel safer, and was provided free by Iron Horse Support. Its A PIG to pedal in the sand up a slight grade, or in wet Florida mud. A better rear shock with decent lock out, would help performance in any conditions. Wellgo pedals died the first month, bearings went, water killed them. They died at the same time, on one ride powering over tree roots. Suicide pedals, if you get them wet. Stock seat is painful, you have limited choices with the SDG seat post. HEAVY at 38 pounds. | | Similar Products Used: | Old Schwinn Dualie, Recent Iron Horse Maverick disc. | | Bike Setup: | Stock, with heavier 650 lb spring, Azonic A Frame Pedal replacement, stainless spindles, sealed bearings. Better wet work pedals. | | Bottom Line: | I got it for saving my well damaged spine, knees. The mass of the thing, 5.75 inches of travel, its soft suspension, carry it over bad holes, and small drops, at a good speed. It is by no means a fast bike, unless you have a slight downhill, and then it is glued to the trail and fast on the rough stuff. Flat sandy rides, will tire you out. I bought it for crawling heavy primative woods, on some private ranch land, and daily training to rehab injuries, so I can enjoy exploring off road. $730.00 | | Purchased At: | randall schott | | Strengths: | the ride and the softness of the fork and shock. | | Weaknesses: | it was very hard to set up the disc brake on this bike, im probably going to have to take it in to get inspected to make sure that i did a good job on setting it up. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | It is set up really nice with all the compenents of a downhill bike without the hole in your wallet. Also i love the all black, i can say that it doesnt look good over the internet but when you look at it in natural light it looks great. | | Bottom Line: | Its cheap in price for any dh or freeride bike for any rider, its totally worth the price and the value. I love it so far not to flashy with weird colors, its a great bike iron horse did a good job, and i recommend Randall Scott if your going to purchase it, rscycle.com. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$750.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo.com | | Strengths: | I get the feeling like I'm on a dirt bike. Didn't kill me on the cost. So far it has been a solid bike. | | Weaknesses: | Doesn't actually come with 7" of travel in the rear. According to Iron Horse only has 5.6". My front rim was not true. There were metal chips in both the rims. The rear shock is way too soft. | | Similar Products Used: | My friends KHS WitchDoctor | | Bike Setup: | New seat and seat post, 700x2.3 rear spring, 40psi in the fork | | Bottom Line: | This is an inexpensive bike that has thus far taken my abuse after I changed the rear spring. Kinds mad at Iron Horse when I found out that the bike doesn't have 7" of travel in the tail. It is advertised as such due to a last minute change in the shock and a "typo". The frame can handle 7" but the relatively short stroke of the shock restricts it to 5". I'm currently trying to get a new shock from Iron Horse hopefully for cheap.
I'm 190lbs and i enjoy dropping off ledges (~3ft) and going over jumps. The 700lbs spring has worked out all right for me, but is very stiff which is why I want a new shock.
I half wish that I spent the extra $500 and got the Ojiki (same frame, better components), but I just didn't have the money.
If you really want a freeride bike and have next to no money, this is a decent bike, but if you do have money, look for something better.

$799.00 | | Purchased At: | supergo in Mt. View | | Strengths: | Sick design, best price for this kind of bike for the budget minded. Amazing upgrade from my XC bike, a Trek Y3. I am blown away when riding this bike, and find myself thinking about where I can take it next during the day. | | Weaknesses: | Specified with a weak 300 coil in the rear...had to have it replaced with a 550x2.3 coil. The new coil looks much better being longer and larger gauge. I weigh 200 lbs and ride semi-aggressively. Also comes with weak Avilio components. The rear derailleur down shifts when I land something hard. 8" disc brakes are great...but are also honkin' big and get in the way when tossing the bike into the back of my truck. I missed having the large ring up front at first...but I've gotten over it—literally. I enjoy the higher ground clearance. | | Similar Products Used: | none...my first long travel bike. I didn't even test ride the better stuff so I wouldn't "ruin" my experience with the lower end models. Bike before this was a 1998 Trek Y3 with a "long travel" Indy C fork. | | Bike Setup: | Stock except upgraded rear derailleur to XT, ditched uncomfortable I-Beam seat for WTB split saddle/new seatpost and rear coil increased from 300 to 550 lbs. | | Bottom Line: | Looking for more fun riding around the city, parks, school areas, but not independently wealthy? Then buy this bike. You'll be happy...after you upgrade a few minor things. Plenty of travel for mid-grade insanity. Get something more hardcore if you're full on raging mad though. (The Aniki is the lowest end of the Yakuza line...) OnePointFive headtube makes the overall build of the frame look tough, but the Manitou Splice has a 1 1/8" steerer tube, so you end up with weird looking reducers. I recommend buying this bike for sure. The weaknesses mentioned are easily fixed to make this one amazing bike for less than a grand. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
