Over the last few months I have swapped a bunch of parts to lighten her up. Now set up as noted above, and she comes in at 35 lbs! Actually feels, rides, and climbs like a much lighter bike.
With the correct set up of sag, compression, and rebound, this bike is super bad ass. The DW link eliminates just about all of the pedal bob, so pro pedal is not required from the rear shock. The Hayes Strokers have nice modulation, and are a huge step up from the Hayes 9's. I am amazed at how sweet she rides every time I get out.
Drop the fork down to 130 mm, and she climbs like a shorter travel bike. It is easy to forget that you have 7" of rear wheel travel at your disposal when climbing. the DW link allows the rear wheel to stick to the ground no matter what the trail throws at you.
Crank the fork back up to 160 mm, and she has the abilities of a heavy DH bike, and bottomless travel. It is too bad that IH is gone....I hope to get a few more years out of my 7 point 3. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This bike is incredible and has transformed my riding. Coming from a 4X hardtail, this has given me crazy confidence on downhills. It really is super smooth, and the suspension action feels really controlled, rather than just bouncy like the Big HIt i tried. Im also pretty sure that no matter how crazy I get, Ill never be able to break it. This thing is built for abuse. The huge chunky welds, massive tubes, and massive rienforced gussets all come at a proce though,a nd that is weight. No matter how well this bike pedals (which it does excellantly) I still wouldnt recommend trying to ride it up a hill. All that padalling efficiency really helps on 4x and dual tracks though. It really does accelerate so straight and true, with no bob.
The only issues I have with mine is the shock. I still have the standard 2006 Manitou metel, which is overdamped and occasionally makes the back end feel constapated. I will soon be upgrading to a much plusher DHX, and im sure the bike will continue to surprise me with its ability.
Overall, this bike makes a superb UK DH 7 inch bike. Really chuckable, and pretty quick once you get it up to speed. Just dont be fooled by the all mountain/freeride tag... this only excels when you point it downwards. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

| | Bottom Line: | There are still some 06 7.3's floating around for dirt cheap. Pick them up, upgrade them as you get the funds. They can be set up as some of the best pedaling, FR/DH bikes on the market.
I've had mine for over a year, a few days ago I busted a spoke, that is the only problem that I have had with any stock part. The hubs are not the best but if you keep them greased they last just as long as any other hub on the market.
They might be heavy compared to other 7" bikes on the market but then again you have never heard of a snapped 7point frame or broken chain stays on a 7point. With the extra weight comes a huge boost in frame strength. There is no rear triagle flex (which is where the frame weighs the most)
All in all I've had this bike for over a year. I couldnt have gotten a better bike with the same ammount of money. If your trying to figure out if you want to get a 7.3 or 7.5 go with the 7.5 you will not regret it. Better specs for a few hundred more! | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I thought about getting a 9" travel bike but I love to jump, drop,basically fly. Im experimenting with a 8" fork gives it alittle more length and helps on the steep tech DH sections but doesnt limit its FR ablility.
Great bike wouldnt even think about buying it again.

The bike is awesome, decently-spec'd and with the Travis 180 feels very well balanced (7" F and R). Waaaaaay better than anything I've ridden before.
Thanks to the DW-link, rides real nice when pedalling hard. But it also eats all bumps, small and big, with ease and stability. I tried a Romic rear shock with my KHS Witchdoctor and loved it, this DW-Progressive is the bomb.

I changed out the rear shox from the stock Metel RP to a RS Pearl Air. Partly because I weight 110 with gear and partly becuase I wanted the adjustablilty. Other than that the bike has been great. Couldnt have asked for better. DW link is awsome. If you are considering buying a FR bike and are tight on cash I dont think you can find a better deal.

At 220lbs that says a lot, as previous suspension bikes especially front shocks gave out after a short period of time. SRAM derailleurs/shifters feel more solid than previous Shimano equipped bikes. | | Weaknesses: | Wierwolf tires wallow in the corners, on pavement or dirt. The uneven knob pattern on the side is the likely culprit. Will upgrade to Kenda Nevegal 2.5s when these are done.
Marzocchi dropoff III has very little tire clearance with the stock 2.5 tires. The DW link can be pedaled standing up with no detectable bobbing, which is nice at times when going uphill. Previously owned bikes required front shock to be replace almost immediately or at least upgraded internally to something that wouldn't bottom out. Once the compression and pre-load air adjustments were setup correctly the dropoff III fork seems adequate, not the smoothest fork out there but OK overall.

I do lots of climbing on this bike and I will say I wanted to blame the brutality of the climbs on the weight of the bike. 3 months later I am much stronger and can now do all the climbs I could do last summer on a much lighter bike. The bike climbs extremely well on tight singletrack and absolutely bombs on the downhill. The fork and shock have very limited adjustability, a downside. But what do you expect from a $1500.00 bullit proof freeride bike. If you want better specs buy a 7POINT7 or 7POINT9. I have no doubt that these higher models are second to none. I love my 7POINT3. The SRAM x.7 shifters and rear derailleur works like magic, they shift much faster than I ever expected, great value for the bucks!!! The Maxxis High Rollers are literally the grippiest tires that I have ever used! They even work on gravel and loose dirt. The tires help the cornering ability very much. The rear shock also performs better than I expected, it soaks up everything that I throw at it, 4 ft drops feel like curbs. The grips are alright... The Funn Soljam Vipers(pedals) are so grippy, they grip all the shoes that I have, unlike the old Azonics that I had. So yeah, there are a ton of strengths... | | Weaknesses: | The fork SUCKS!!! At first I thought the fork was great, but after I started to ride it more I realized how slow it was. It works if you like to hit drops, but not if you like to bunny hop and do dirt jumps. You can't adjust the compression so it is pretty fast and gives up the travel on the fork very quickly. You can adjust the rebound but it doesn't do much, I tried to adjust the rebound but it doesn't feel like it does anything. The Hayes brakes aren't very good either (although it might just be that the brakes aren't broken in yet...). The grips are good but they aren't 'lockon' grips, all freeride bikes should come with Lockon grips. | | Similar Products Used: | 7POINT5, Banshee Chaparral, San Andreas Mountain Cycle, Giant Faith | | Bike Setup: | All still has factory setup | | Bottom Line: | I've only ridden this properly once but I'm immediately impressed. It looks the biz in Red and the paint is really nice. It's a bit heavy going up hill but more than makes up for it going downhill where it's strong and stable on the ground and in the air. Like I said the forks don't quite match the performance of the rear end - could be my setup so I'll experiment a bit more.
The drivetrain is great with the E13.
