from Elora Date Reviewed: May 22, 2001 | | Favorite Trail: | my gorge loop | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | True North Custom Cycles | | Strengths: | fits like a glove; amazing feel - strong, supple and light; excellent build quality, ie. welds, frame shaping and alignment; | | Weaknesses: | none | | Similar Products Used: | Rocky Mountain Altitude, Specialized M4 S-Works, various GT's | | Bike Setup: | 853/725 steel frame, x-fly, xtr and raceface, King/Mavic wheelset...parts worthy of the frame | | Bottom Line: | My last bike was a lightweight xc full suspension bike. I got sick of dealing with the fragility and maintenance that is unavoidable in these bikes. Not only do I have a rock solid and maintenance free frame, but thanks to the frame setup and ride quality of steel, I don't at all miss the rear suspension in 99% of my riding. The other 1% is just a hell of a lot more exciting. Every ride on this bike further convinces me that steel is the right material for a mountain bike. The custom geometry and frame material have dramatically improved my physical comfort and long term durability compared even to my full suspension xc bike. Aluminum hardtails are just painfully harsh in comparison. When you're ready for the ultimate xc bike, get measured up for a True North. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This frame is nothing short of incredible. One ride and I was convinced. This bike handles so well, it is telepathic. The Reynolds 853/725 steel mix is excellent giving you the rigidity and suppleness you need where you need it. Steel is sooooo real.I would give ten chilis if I could. | Overall Rating: |
