Submitted by John Bown a Cross Country Rider from Blenheim, New Zealand
Date Reviewed: April 21, 2001
Favorite Trail:Mt Robertson
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $1200.00
Purchased At:Cyclelogic
Strengths:97 model actually. Rocks in tight singletrack. Supple over the long haul. Encourages foolhardy speeds on forestry roads.
Weaknesses:Bottom bracket a little low. Paint job is looking dull (dark green)
Similar Products Used:Kona Explosif
Bike Setup:96 SL judys, Race face h/s, Azonic risers, Control Tech stem, XT & LX coponents. Sun rims with IRC Mythos 2.1 tyres, BLT lights. Time pedals & WTB SST seat on a Titec post.
Bottom Line:This is a frame you keep & upgrade as parts break or wear out. Your friends might not beleive how much you spent on a frame, when you can get a good bike for the price. But you will know its worth every cent on your first ride. Mine was a three hour mission & I was hooked. After being put off the ride of aluminium & the maintenance of full suspension, let alone the price of Ti, then you can't beat a classy steel ride.

Submitted by Marc a Cross-Country Rider from bay area
Date Reviewed: May 10, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Skeggs
Duration Product Used:
1 Year
Strengths:
industry standard geometry set-up for suspension; nimble in the tight stuff, stable at speeds.
Weaknesses:
hard to find - call Salsa or check 'em out at salsacycles.com
Similar Products Used:
GT, Cannondale, S-Works, Bontrager, Ibis, Voodoo
Bike Setup:
hayes brakes, Judy SL, XTR, Cane Creek wheelset
Bottom Line:This frame rocks!! It bunny-hops everything and looks sweet. With the disc out back and up front, braking on short notice is not an issue. With the Hayes mount built into the frame - there is no need for clunky rear adaptors! The feel of a Salsa is just natural. Ride an Ibis or a Voodoo - you'll be back to the Salsa!!
Overall Rating:5
