Bottom Line:This makes a nice cross racing bike. Not as nimble as my Old Gitane (which had sub 42 cm stays), but then it weighs 2lbs less which is noticeable at the first run up. Predictable handling. I know that Al is supposed to be harsher but it seems fine to me (I'm heavyish at 165 lbs though- lighter folks may find the ride stiff?). The bare 56 cm c-c frame was 3.53 lbs, the Al fork 1.25 lbs on the digital postal scale- lighter than claimed, what a shock. Frame is true, welds actually look OK. The bolt-on aluminum brake cable stay on the fork works great, much to my surprise. I run LX cantis, and can lock up either wheel at will, and the feel isless spongey and superior to any Vbrake/travel agent set up I've tried on teammates' and friend's bikes. I ran the same LXs on my Gitane and Bridgestone over the last 6 years, and they pretty much totally sucked, so I can only think that the difference is the stiffness of the oversized Al, and the sturdiness of that brake cable stay. I can recommend this bike without hesitation. Of course, it's pretty new, so if I suddenly have a problem, I'll update.
Overall Rating:5
