Date Reviewed: June 10, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Zipps
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Price and Grin-Factor
Weaknesses:
Weight
Bottom Line:This is a great frameset for those who want to experiment with the wonderful world of single speeds and at a low cost to boot. Mine ended up weighing 23lbs using old parts. A pound lighter would have given this bike a 5 star rating.

Bottom Line:For the price, you can't beat it. At less than half the price of a Spot, it totally rules. And while true frame junkies might gravitate toward the Spot, etc for nitpicky reasons, the realities of Single Speed riding are such that minor differences in frame craftsmanship are somewhat unimportant beacuause you are always out of the saddle just trying to hold on for dear life. Don't get me wrong, a single speed frame still has to be good but anyone who spends $2100 on a titanium frame when this thing is out there for $3000.00 isn't quite tuned into what single speeding is all about. That being said, I've ridden a few single speeds at more than twice the price of the rat ride and can't discern any significant differences. I hammered this bike last weekend and it felt great. What more do you have to say than that. Of course it helps if you set up the frame with parts that fit your style and, with some help from the guys at Dedham Bike, i did just that.
Overall Rating:5
