The ride is fantastic, and if you don't love the looks at once, there's something wrong with you. The aluminum monocoque is unbelievably stiff, especially in the headtube area. The box chain and seat stays are very effective, and the CNC'd chainstay yoke is a great touch. The blue paintjob is gorgeous, and seems to be fairly tough. You get lots of looks on the trail with this baby, and it's fun having a bike nobody's ever seen before.
This bike really shines on the trail. It climbs like a squirrel with its tail on fire, and handling in the turns on the way back down is unbelievable. This thing carves! Through tight, technical singletrack this bike also holds its own. Snap it through some switchbacks and you'll soon see what I mean. Response to control inputs and body english is instantaneous.
So, what's not to love? Well, the derailler hanger can be a bit of a headache. While a breakaway bolt will save you in a lot of situations, it won't work every time. For instance, I recently had a fairly serious crash where a rock hit the derailler bolt dead on the face. This quite handily bent my hanger, but didn't do a thing to the bolt or the derailler. Fortunately the bend was not that significant and I was able repair it, but I don't know what I'll be able to do if that happens again.
Still, if you can live with the derailler hanger, this bike is nearly impossible to beat. And for $299 at Cambria, it's got to be one of the best deals out there.

To really appreciate this frame you need to know how to turn, I mean really, really turn. This frame carves. Even when you lock up the rear wheel in a controlled skid and counter steer the frame is ALMOST too quick to respond. It just takes some getting used to though, and it feels like your in the cock pit of an F1 car. Great buy for a Xcountry racer who dose not care about name brand. I won the frame in a race in school....1st place prize!
I've hammered this bike on all the tough trails in NM and it doesn't skip a beat....i don't think this bike
will let me down anytime soon.
the only problem i have with the infusion is
the drop-out....i fear losing my frame cuz i end up wrapping my 9.0sl around my chainstay.
If you can get over the the non-replaceable drop-out and are looking for a sweet HT....i totally recommend the MXC-pro.....and if your going to run shimano....SRP makes a break-away derailler bolt which would save your frame.

I got this frame closeout from Cambria Bicycle Works and it is a steal! First off, it just plain looks cool. The Monocoque is welded six ways from sunday, and the rear end is built out of beefy square tubes. This is my first aluminum bike, and I must admit I was worried it would be like riding a jackhammer, but I was suprised to discover that this thing is just plain pleasant to ride! It is as smooth riding as my old DEAN, but transfers power more directly. Point and shoot, no messing around. The only problem I have with it is no replaceable derailleur hanger; minus one chili for that. Otherwise it kicks ass. Buy one before they're all gone! | | Overall Rating: |
