Like we 've always said, if you can only have one bike, you might as well end it all right now. Or was it, if you could only have one bike, make it a Hakkalügi? If you're a cross racer, or spend time on the road and maybe go off road at times, or maybe combine all three on one ride, you've come to the right place. We're a little hesitant to call it a cyclocross frame, because it can do so much more. You can race the hell out of it, but most "Lugi Lovers" out there only occasionally race cross, they're just hopelessly seduced by the versatility that the Hakkalugi offers.

Bottom Line:
An outstanding do everything bike, the Hakkalugi has the sweet compliant ride of steel, but is also stiff enough to get up and go for a finish line sprint. I have used this bike for road riding, trail riding (including some singletrack!), commuting, and cyclocross racing.
The bike is reasonably light and very comfortable in the 18 months I have owned it. The frame is well built and beautifully finished, and includes details like the hand job cable hanger that remind you that the quirky crew at Ibis built this bike with love.
I have ridden this bike quite hard and it has been my main bike for fall, winter and last spring, until I bought another road bike (although I still own and use the Ibis). It has been reliable and comfortable, with handling that can forgive my occaisonal inattentiveness, but also is precise enought to allow me to carve a line in a cross race.
Overall, the bike is a great do-it-all bike and very well built. I would recommend it for cyclocross, commuting, and occaissonal trail riding and road training. I did find that the angles and ride was a little relaxed compared to what I expected from a road bike, but it worked fine for 2000+ miles of training.. Unless you are racing on the road or want the quick geometery of a road bike, this bike is perfect!
