Strengths: It is a tuff frame. It goes through a lot and still is in A-1 condition. Also it is soooo light.Weaknesses: I found for XC riding that the Elans frame is too short. Either order bigger, or plan on it being small. Smaller is definetly funner, but harder to climb with.Bottom Line: I love the Dagger I have. It was a good value, light, and extremely strong, and besides there aren't that many and so it is very unique. Coming down hills on the Dagger is a blast. I've had other bikes that have been great all around, but for drop-offs and hardcoring I've found it very worthy. The Paint is sweet and will catch the eye. Because of their weird sizing, If you plan on riding up steep and long hills get a bigger size, I promise(20") But, if you want that great XC with some excellent downhill get the smaller frame. For a great ride that nobody else has, get the dagger.

Bottom Line:
I must say I had my doubts, but a quality, hand-built frame does make a difference! This frame is made from Easton Elan III tubing. My 18 weighs 3.7 lbs with the seat collar/bolt and the removable deraillueur hanger. It's a pretty small frame. Looks more like a 17 or 16. This is the most comfortable aluminum hartail I have ever ridden. The Easton taper-butted stays really make a difference while riding over the rough stuff. The Dagger logo is cool looking but the decal scrapes off easy. I hope they can send me another one. The claimed weight for an 18 is 3.4 lbs. I should have weighed it with the collar and hanger off to see how true the weight was. Any way it is light! I took off about 1-1/2 lbs because my other frame was a crappy GT Ricochet. My bike weighs 22.6 lbs now. I wish Dagger would take the time to answer my e-mail (hint, hint). Maybe they would get 5 stars then.
