Weaknesses: Availability "Good things come to those who wait"
Bottom Line:
If you want the to podium, you will not have to look any further for a D.H. rig. The design & engineering behind this frame makes it a world-class machine, without a shadow of a doubt. The bike has an unsurpassed feeling of plush bottomless travel. You can hit or drop off large obstacles and feel nothing!!! In spite of all the plush travel, the bike is a good peddler. Not too much bobbing going on here. The free-floating rear brake goes into action while entering turns at high speeds. Because of the unique position of the caliber, the bike suspension wants to decompress rather then compress while under heavy braking, (unlike all other bike out on the market). This feature virtually removes the feed back of those dreaded braking bumps that we all love soooo much. The frame is so stiff. The front triangle and rear swing arm are always in unison, making all corners feel like they have berms. The bike handles so well that anyone can bomb down the nastiest hills in a bilk of an eye. It is a fun bike to ride, but make no mistake. This is a race machine.
Bike Setup: Boxxer fork, Kore stem & H.B., Tioga seat & rims, Romic rear shock, Hadley B.B.& Hubs, Hayes 8” brakes, 164mm Race Face cranks, Thompson lied back seat post
Strengths: Plushness, activness, strength, stiffness, adjustability, looks, design, free floating rear disk, 8" rear disc and travel, ,stiffness again and plushness again and again.
Weaknesses: can only use 12mm rear hub, but who wouldn't want to anyways. Hard to dial in, but once it is, my god!
Bottom Line:
The bottom line is this; If you want the second plushest DH frame made, buy a Karpiel. If you want the second stiffest bike made, buy a Cortina. If you want the second most active frame, buy a Super 8. If you want the second coolest looking bike, buy a Turner. If you want the best Dh frame ever made, buy a Chumba Wumba Zulu DH. Thats, the bottom line. email me and I will explain why if you want
This bike is pretty damn good. I bought it more for north shore style stuff. It is beefy, plush, and compairably light. mount twin 8 inch rotors with some disc brakes, big fork, and my friend, you have yourself one BAD @$$ BIKE! My bike as is weighs in at around 40 lbs. Its dope! Buy it and enjoy. The frame is average priced, but i got it SO damn cheap its not even funny. ($1100 for the frame, it retails for like $2500) so i can't really say what it gets in terms of value. I would have paid 2500 for it, but i don't know how many people could justify the cost. Overall, i thouroughly enjoy this bike for drops and hauling @$$.
