An awesome frame truly confidence inspiring and will definably make you faster, since i got it I've got better results in races and i find myself reaching for the brake much less as the frame gives you confidence to just hit everything at full pace and it just shrugs it off.

all it all its an awesome dh race bike and is just as good and in my opinion better than other race bikes like Sundays, 224s, v10s an glorys etc and the best thing is its not as common as them bikes which makes you stand out and not look like your just following the crowd.

I have had this frame for 2 seasons now and I intend to use it for one more. Overall this bike has taken part in DH races, holidays in the Alps and most places to ride in Scotland with most of the summer weekends been spent on the Fort William world cup course.
I rate this bike v-highly. The DHR is one confidence-inspiring machine, it wants to go faster through rock gardens, over roots, round berms.... The one good thing is I have given this bike out to some of my friends for a go, to put this into perspective we are middle of the pack riders for fun MTB'ers who also race for fun. Every person I have given a go on the frame have came back with good comments.
The bottom line is I intended to replace my frame this year, I just can't. I'm not saying this is the best frame on the planet, I have for instance had a go on the wife’s Cove Shocker and that feels v-stable and fast. What I'm trying to say is for the money I would have to spend over the better bike I could get is minimal at this level. Sure the frame won’t last forever and I will have to change soon but I just can't part with it at this time. It has taken a beating from a 100kg rider and it just keeps asking for more.
2 years on and I still smile when I ride this bike.

WOW!, what an amazing bike. Turner is not kidding when they say endless travel makes drops disappear, and for those rock gardens HA! don't make me laugh they are nothing when riding this machine. Its capability to flow through the techy section are easily match with how it handles in the air. I have never met a bike that can handle the way this thing does. you can come down the roughest of the rough fly right in and out of a larger jump and stick the corner effortlessly every time. I would have had a hard time up at whistler this season if it wasn't for this thing I felt like a complete different rider as soon as I got it its better when you can trust the bike and its even better when you have a great company that stands behind their product!
Weaknesses:
nothing you get what you pay for and more don't listen to others who complain about the cost. the only weakness is that its to good of a bike and possibly my last one, because these things last forever.

I rode the last season on it every weekend at places like Mt Snow, Mtn Creek, and Plattekill and had a great time. My first weekend riding on it my riding improved soo much you have no idea. I went from a bottom five in BEGINNER to a top 5 in sport. Riding this bike you will feel a difference over any previous bike you owned such as a Kona or a Bighit. Not the best downhill bike on the market but I guarentee you it will not slow you down. Im getting ready to ride another season on mine. P.S.- If you get a 04 w/ a romic dont- Romics are garbage. Ive seen them blow so bad the rod comes out of the cartridge. Get the DHX, I've ridden both, you dont blow them and they are soo nice.

Wow, I've only been able to get out for one day of shuttle runs so far with it, and after getting the feel for it all I can say is wowwwwww!!! This thing just squats down so hard it the corners and is just so super agile. Compared with the bullit, brooklyn, and shockwave this thing is just so friggin nimble! It likes to be handled very nimbly and if you've got the upper body strength it can just be totally flicked around downhill courses likes it's just skipping across and down everything. There's no need to plow through rough sections anymore cause with the DHR cause you can pick whatever lines you want and dance around, over and through the rough stuff with minimal effort.
It's stable at high speeds, maybe a little less than the brooklyn and shockwave but that's only cause they have more travel and the ones I rode were set up super saggy.
I haven't hit any decent drops yet, maybe 6ft, but I think it's gonna hold up just fine to em'.
I haven't hit any decent jumps yet either, but I used to alot on my bullit, and with how much more nimble the Turner seems than the Bullit I think DH style jumps are gonna pure butta.
Oh, and lastly, it pedals crazy efficient.
Also, under the Review Guidelines I'm supposed to say who should buy it and who shouldn't buy it... DHing on it then buy it, XCing on it then don't buy it.

This is the fastest bike I have ever ridden. Is night and day from riding a Foes. I would say its 40% faster through corners. Is like riding a big BMX with shocks. Amazing ..!

This frame takes 15 foot drops as well as it rails corners, I moved up 2 positions in my class switching to this bike. It took me a little while to figure out that this bike rides better at speed. It just seems to ride and handle better the faster you go. Stay centered on the bike, stay off the brakes at let it show you what it can do.

None after 1 year of racing and freeriding at Plattekill Mtn.

The 2004 Turner DHR is a bear of a frame. Riding it, and in particular looking down on the beefy square tube frame, its hard not to feel invincible – this is a confidence inspiring race bike, easily trusted and not easily feared. I am a novice rider, and the DHR always feels solidly planted to the ground. 8.5 inches of plush rear travel on a frame with an EXTREMELY low center of gravity allows for reassuring connection with the ground via tires in areas and turns where that connection would more likely be via body.
As far as looks – some people love it some people not as much. The rear pivot system is simple and strong, and therefore may not be as visually attractive to people as perhaps a more bold and flamboyant rear. No extra arms or fancy engraving – just a square, beefy frame covered with very cool orange and black heavy duty moto tape. Minimalist? Maybe not – I have got countless comments on how much it resembles every thing from a high dollar dirt bike to about 4 comments that it’s a “frickin’ jet airplane.” And maybe it is….
Pushing this frame hard is also a joy. I have taken countless drops and uber-rough sections, mostly by accident, and rather than punishing my mistake the DHR rewards. I continue to get pleasantly surprised when I found, even with my novice talent that “wow! I can do THAT??” That or I feel a certain embarrassment after taking a drop I thought a couple times about, only to find the DHR didn’t think about it even once and only compressed maybe a couple inches despite a soft landing. I can’t speak personally about riding the DHR on a pro level, however a pro rider I know that rides the same frame (except a 2003) swears by the practically unbreakable and ultra plush DHR on all his downhill runs. This is a pro downhill race rig: it may not have the biggest rear travel number, but it’s strong and has more than enough for almost all riders. And it absolutely rips in the corners and delivers a jet speed and solid ride thanks to the low, low center of gravity.
The downsides to the DHR? Mostly price. It’s a high dollar frame – you certainly get what you pay for, a super strong and fast downhill bike that is on the very top tier of the market for a reason. It’s also heavy, but it’s a downhill bike – and is mid-pack on weight when compared to other downhill bikes. As another side affect of a full downhill setup, its not pleasant going up hills – bearable, in the slow muscle-building kind of way. Also, I am a pretty tall rider, and enjoy a bigger bike. I ordered the large model, and even though the dynamics and strength is nearly flawless, in order to accommodate a longer seatpost an extra welded section had to be put on. I don’t doubt its strength – but it puts a bead line right across a small section of the frame that shows under the moto tape. It’s noticeable and wasn’t expected. Pretty nitpicky, and only an issue on the large model frames, its something that someone who should really ride the DHR – that is, someone who loves pure, simple, and strong performance on all rides, won’t even notice.
I’m giving the DHR 5 chilies because it has shown me what a great, capable downhill frame is. It is a unique bike that growing skill might never outgrow. And it continues to surprise me when I find myself looking back on a rough section of trail I wouldn’t have even considered had I seen it at another angle, or on the back of a weaker bike.

Poor quality control and poor customer service. my frame came with deraileur hanger bolts that were too long and hit the cassett, the axel reducers had to be pressed into the frame, and the rear dropouts are not alighed, some other smaller stuff.
I called turner about these problems and all they said was woops guess it didn't get through the final prep. Not send it back to us and we will fix it. Wen I spend this much money on a bicycle, I kind of expecte it to be done right.

This is one fantastic frame! The low center of gravity helps the bike carve through turns and going fast. I've never felt so confident like I am on my Turner, it really inspires confidence and lets me go a lot faster on the downhills than I would with my trailbike. After installing a 550lb spring on the Romic D shock (a very simple procedure), the bike was riding a lot better, and I could run the proper amount of sag. The blue low speed compression damping on the Romic is a great counter to pedal induced bob. Pedalling this bike, despite the large amount of rear wheel travel, is really a pleasure.
Who should buy this bike? Anyone in the market looking to spend money on a reliable, strong and high performing downhill bike, with a MSRP that is less than some other DH frame manufacturers.
I will look forward to racing this bike!

If you race and are looking to buy a new ride, you really need to consider a Turner.
