Product Description

Good luck finding a better high-performance downhill bike than this value-packed rig. With 200mm of front and rear travel, a custom Fox Van RC shock, and a RockShox RC fork, this machine is one well-thought-out downhill setup.

Strengths:    I just bought this bike a couple weeks ago, and all I can say is amazing. It weighed in about 38.4 lbs after I had assembled it, and it is completely race ready once put together. Mine came with the Fox DHX RC4 rear shock when it should have been a van, but it is way better. it soaks up small bumps while handling big hits like nothing. This bike rips through corners as well, unlike anything ive ridden. There is a reason the demo 8 is the greatest bike out there.

Weaknesses:    Since you're spending $6600 on the bike, it could have come with better forks instead of the boxer rc fork, but they are still nice. Also, the bb bolt keeps coming loose, so you have to Loctite it.

Bottom Line:
Greatest bike ever.

Strengths:    Easy to go big on really stable unbreakble frame really good at high speeds

Weaknesses:    The chain needs better chain guide is not a great bike unless you are going down super steep section or if your going fast and it is not fast at Corning what's so ever and it just feels big

Bottom Line:
This is a great bike if you ride all steep bumpy technical stuff but if you like single track it's not a great bike but by all means if you love going big off everything and finding the most gnarly lines by all means bye this bike

Strengths:    Solid build. Handling.

Weaknesses:    Shock adjustment.

Bottom Line:
Got one new in 05 and done nothing but abuse the old beast all its days. Had it down Fort William every year and 2 years ago, finally managed to blow the Manitou shock that i was told "wouldn't last a season". Raced it, freeride it, dirt jumped it, and even a bit of light XC on it. 8 years on and still rides like day one. Never feel the need to buy a new one, when this one is more than up to the job.

Strengths:    This bike seems to have been really nice, tons of travel and thought to be indestructable.

Weaknesses:    My friend snapped his Demo 9 frame.....

Bottom Line:
Chances are you won't snap this frame unless you ride super hard. But demos are pretty sick.

Strengths:    Amazing build, light, pops off everything, pedals brilliantly, impressive stock pedals and tyres.

Weaknesses:    Stock wheels and stem, not everyone wants to spend time setting up the double barrel (they should though, because its worth it!)

Bottom Line:
Amazing value for money when you look at the components, manages to get air off things like roots, pedals through the rough with ease, corners like its on rails, inspires huge amounts of confidence, really light weight (37.14ish), simply one of the most fun bikes you can own! Absolutely loving it!!

the bike is frikkin ridiculous! 37 pound DH rig that you can still ride as a Freeride is ya really want to? I went from a flatline 2 tank at 47 pounds and riding it i feel like i got liposuction. this thing is amazing and fun. cant wait to beat it up at Winter park this weekend! stupid ridiculous fun bike. My days of spandex and clipless are almost over methinks. I tried several different bikes and nothing compares

Strengths:    No flex in linkage or bike.No brake jack.Beefy all around.Sit's low.

Weaknesses:    Shock takes a bit longer to adjust because you have to take the upper link loose.About 3 more minutes is all & that's if your super slow.

Bottom Line:
Best dh bike i have had.Nothing to complain about.Pivots & bearings are all still smooth, quiet & have no play.Jumps solid.Brakes into rough corners great.Plus pedals nice without bobbing, alot better than my single pivot Bullit.A brand new Demo frame would cost a alot but you can used ones that work the same for less.

Strengths:    Been riding for more than 20 years and this is by far the best downhill bike ever. The Demo 8 is great but for a bigger guy (I am 6'1" 215lbs) this bike is so smooth.

Weaknesses:    Wish is was a bit lighter and looked better.

Bottom Line:
Great bike but expensive for a "GREAT" set up.

Strengths:    Great linkage (Hollow trapezoidal Linkage with Horst link design), nice design, bobmproof, great geometry.

Weaknesses:    Weight, Ease of acsessing shock (No big deal).

Bottom Line:
Since I work at a bike shop, I usually get a new bike each season. However, I have been riding my demo for 2 seasons now and am still considering keeping it for a third. It has amazing feel and great geometry.
When I first got the frame, I built it up as a heavy duty FR bike, and it pedals surprisingly well for what it was built for. I especially like launching gaps and hitting drops, and made any trail a jump park. It feels really lively and has decent cornering abilitys. When riding at a gravity park, it almost feels like a dirtjump or slopestlyle bike in the air. It feels stable at high speeds, and is very tough.
This bike also can be built up as a race style bike because of the longer wheelbase. The size SMALL frame almost looks the same size as my size MEDIUM Norco Six 1.
Once on the bike, you have a decent BB height, so the bike actually feels small and playful. I really find that the bike (the way I had it built) is perfect for ski hill runs.
My only complaint is the weight of the bike, especially for a race bike. The weight is hardly noticed while riding though, and feels light in the air.
Another small problem is getting at the rear shock for service. Becuase of the frame design, removing the shock can be a hassle.

All and all, a great bike for anyone who likes bikeparks, but can also be built for the serious Downhill racer.

Highly Reccomended!

Strengths:    strong, very good geo, excellent handling

Weaknesses:    none

Bottom Line:
i've been riding this bike hard for the last 6 years in the whistler bike park and only had the rear hub wear out that says a lot about the quality of the bike.It rides so well that I like it better than the demo 8 it just eats up everything,it's so smooth at speed over the roughest trails alway feel in control.I would have to say best bike park bike ever made, worth ever penny.specialized should make a new one.
