Strengths: Stability
Adjustability
Weaknesses: Frame fills with water during washingBottom Line: Got this bike used for little money and it's amazing! It can take anything I throw at it and is just immensely stable on rough terrain and through corners; it's a bit on the heavy side but it just seems to know what it's doing and corner magically.
I actually manage to pedal it uphill for short distances so that's a plus too.
Couple that with the immense adjustability of the frame (head angle, rear travel) and you'll see this bike simply rocks!!
Bottom line: I love it to pieces

Strengths: Frame is bomb proof, decent stock components, corners like on rails, very adjustable, very stable at high speed, jumps very well, price.Weaknesses: Short wheel base (at least on the small)Bottom Line: Bike rips up any trail and the frame is bomb proof. However if you are really serious about racing downhill, the Gambler is more of a free ride park bike. This is just my opinion I have not ridden a gambler with a more downhill oriented setup.

Strengths: Super slick, amazing travel, very stable, well balanced, very strong frame.Weaknesses: Not Many, a little heavy as stock, but with lighter parts you cab get the weight to a reputable 40lbs...Bottom Line: Fantastic bike, ive used this is on everything from wide open super fast courses, to tight and steep rooty technical forest, its happy doing anything and the massive travel soaks up everything you can throw at it (and more!).
Excellent over rock gardens and cruises over huge drop-offs.
Ultra stable at high speed, this is one burly downhill bike,

Strengths: looks, function, fun, frameWeaknesses: weightBottom Line: works well, I think I will try to improve the weight step by step
so far all parts do their job very well
love the marz fork and the van r shock
riding the gambler is easy because the suspension smooths out everything. the code5 allows proper modulation even on steep snowy trails and I never fell on snow/ice jet!
I didn't come close the end of the bikes abilities and I don't think I can ever get there.
I hope everybody feels the same about his/her bike, no matter what manufacture.
simply a great bike for a smaller budget, but fully capable to do the sick stuff! it won't let you down, even if you are an DH-expert.

Strengths: Performance
Handling
Set-up
Value for money
Adjustability
Looks
Weaknesses: To be honest at this price there is little that can touch the Gambler on a performance / value scale.Bottom Line: Scott isn’t known as a leading DH bike manufacturer and I did wonder how well the gambler would perform. It was excellent value for money with the only comparable competition being the Kona Stab.
I have lived with the Gambler for almost a year now and I am more than impressed. It absolutely rips on the trails, the suspension is super plush and the bike well balanced.
The components are impressive with Avids powerful Code stoppers, SRAM drive train, Marzocchi 888 up front with Fox Vanilla rear.
I loved the stab too but the Scott offer more adjustability. If you are on a budget the Gambler 20 is the best DH bike - it's just a shame Scott have raised the price of this model by £450 for 09 with no real upgrades on the spec.

Strengths: This is my second and more thorough review of the Scott Gambler DH 20:
- geometry
- jumpability
- cornering
- ability to handle steeps
- tackles rock gardens with ease
- stability
- adjustability
- chainstay length
- pedaling
- looks really good
- great dh race rigWeaknesses: forget about it.Bottom Line: The very best bike I've ever owned. None come close.
What can I say? It handles everything and then calls me a pu$$y for not going faster. The geometry and suspension platform do amazingly well in steep, rocky, and really gnarly situations. The chainstay (length: 16.9") is really nice because it won't high-center on rocks / obstacles and it enables the bike to jump VERY well. It pedals like a bike with half it's travel (I have mine set up at 8.2" which is perfect) and makes downhilling just that much more fun.
The stock componentry is pretty nice for the pricetag, but I will say that it is a bit heavy at about 45 lbs. That aside this bike is incredible and I'm having trouble saying enough good things about it... and I've never had people 'eye hump' my bike before, but I get it a lot with this bike 8)
Definitely go to your local Scott dealer and check one out. You will NOT be disappointed!! 5 flaming turds.

Strengths: - adjustability
- very stable at speed / steep conditions
- good component spec for the price
- very strong
- good looksWeaknesses: - weight (but for the price... what do you expect?)
- stock rear spring for the DHX is 450 lbs, I would have liked to see a 500 lb stock springBottom Line: This bike is sweet. Super adjustable with 3 travel settings (7.5, 8.2, and 9.5"), 2 head angle adjustments (between 64 and 66), and chainstay length (16.9 and 17.3).
This bike is very stable at high speeds, steeps, and drops nicely. Overall I'd say a very sweet dh race bike.
Check it out!!
