Strengths: Smooth gears, nice shifters, good colour range, nice brakes, suspension, frame, seat, rims, grips, pedals, and everything else.
Weaknesses: Heavy (only a tad though), pedal crank keeps falling off.
Bottom Line:
I've owned this bike for a good few yers now, and Its been a great bike. Gears are smooth, brakes are smooth, seat is comfy, handle bars are prefect. It Is good for intermediate - pro level riders, I'm not sure what its like for doing tricks and stuff, but its good for everything else, an all round exceptional bike. Oh and Its very good value for money.
Bike Setup: jump and mountain, disk brakes, 15" frame, 26" wheels, front bomber shocks, grips

Strengths: frame, fork....did't have a problem with them
Weaknesses: The pedals, wich suddenly broke down, the hubs needed replacement with Novatec because they broke down too. It don't have an ISCG5 mount
Bottom Line:
It's a verry good bike, because you buy it for the frame and fork, you don't care about the others....it feels soo smooth an flow in the air, on on a trail, you can do anything with it. I see that kona offers now a lifetime guarantee wich is a great value for money. I will remain on kona because i love it's feeling, how you don't like it at first, but only after you ride it you can really see what it can do and then fall in love with it. Try this bike and you won't be disappointed
Bike Setup: Kona shred 09, mz dj3 2007, novatec hubs, doubletracks, crankbrothers pedals, deore shaddow with chaingude

Strengths: 07 Kona Shred: Looks great, Alot of bike for the money on the used market. Mine came with upgrade front disc but I'm sure the bakes worked awesome without, stopping power is great. Bike is pretty light considering the equipment installed
Weaknesses: I hear the frame welds can crack although I've heard alot of rumors on the net that aren't entirely true. I've taken it off a 6 or 7ft stair drop and it seemed rock solid to me, did it 4 more times afterwards. The Marzocchi DJ4 forks that come stock on this one are a little bouncy but they don't bottom out easily at all, they are decent forks.
Bottom Line:
Feels like an awesome bike for the money. Jumps great at the BMX/DJ track and mobs around town with 16spds too choose from. I hang with my friends on the technical mtb type trails and the downhill stuff too. I would'nt push it more than a 10ft drop, I would guess it's gonna hurt alot after that. I love mine, I'll keep it and just upgrade the forks to fox or some other nice fat 100-120mm fork.
Similar Products Used: nothing, been out of bikes for 10+ yrs
Bike Setup: Marzocchi Seat, ODI Locking grips, Maxxis HollyRoller/High Roller Tire setup, Bash Guard with chain tensioner

Strengths: really srong good tires and brakes for 700
Weaknesses: forks suck seats really heavy and thae overall bike wieghs a lot.
Bottom Line:
its a great bike but if your gonna buy one just get the frame because most of the components suck. if you get the setup just buy a different fork because the forks. the bend and botttem out and have almost no edjustibility.
Weaknesses: Fork, rear deurailer, seat, pedals. Can't fit 7" rear disc without grinding frame down. Fork is GARBAGE! It flexs left and right, bottoms real easy and I'm a skinny kid! Replace that rubbish asap!
Bottom Line:
Great intro to intermediate bike. Will last you forever even with hard riding. I haven't serviced my bike a single time since 2004 and it runs smooth as butter. Reliable and sturdy. Get a size smaller and it's really 'flckable'.

this bike is great for the beginner to intermediate. I've gone off 6ft drops with it and it holds well, fork is a bit bouncy at times, great dj, freeride, downhill, and street bike. I'd recomend it to any beginning rider
