Strengths:    Price, durability and enjoyability

Weaknesses:    the shocks are a little squishy for the 250lbs rider, no lock out option on the shocks.

Bottom Line:
I love this bike, its made me want to be on the mountain or trails all day everyday.

Its tough, its durable. The components overall are entry level but the breaks have tons of bite and the drive drain is pretty good. The shocks where the only major weakness for me, but i am a big guy at 250lbs And i really wish they had a shock with a lock out option.

If your thinking about getting into mountain biking, or picking it up again and dont want to spend big dollars i would recommend the revel 1 or revel 0.

Revel 1. 1st upgrade.

I'm trying not to go crazy with upgrades but have identified a couple things that are a must. I need to replace the fork and the brakes, both related to my size. I'm on a budget so its one t ... Revel 1 newb question.

Had the bike for a couple weeks now and love it but I've had a couple of flats already. There is a ton of puncture vine, even along side the road. I'm contemplating going tubeless for obvious reasons but don't want to spend $400 on tubeless rims on a $500 bike. Has anybody had luck converting the st ... Read More »

Giant Revel 29er 0 or 1 or Giant Talon 29er 1?

Between the Giant Revel 29er 0 or 1 or Talon 29er 1, do you recommend as an entry level bike? I plan to ride bike paths, 2 tracks/singletracks, nothing really aggressive. I'm kind of leaning towards the Revels, I'd like to keep my budget under $800. Thank youRead More »
