Strengths:    racing frame is clean as far as comfort and rideability. Good all-Deore set-up, Mavic rims a solid plus. 515 pedals are great intros, plus IT'S A KONA!!!! Killer solid seat & chain stays make it a great ride. Bonus for comfortable racing geometry on the frame, which actually rides like a good BMX with nine speeds. Great turn capabilities for the singletrack.Wicked glow grips thrown in as well!

Weaknesses:    Riser handlebar is a bit wide, but nothing a little after-market swap might help. It also has mounts for a rack on the rear wheel mount, but no seatstay mounts (not that this bike would have any use for a rack anyway!)No-name headset can be upgraded later, and the Tioga tires as well.

Bottom Line:
Great frigin' bike.If you started to want more out of mountain biking without breaking the bank. Great ride for those on a realistic budget and need a sturdier frame. Worth the search for a sub $1000 bike that is trail worthy. Lightweight race-designed frame is easy to track and bunny-hop. After I spent some time on a lesser bike, I did my research as far as sturdy aluminum frames with good components and found two bikes, Kona Cinder Cone and the Haro ICS 4.0. Kona is best known for tough as nails rides and honestly delivers. Got a killer deal on the 2001 model and love it. The folks at B&H are nice and have a surprisingly good store. Solid frame, great parts, makes ya feel good all over!
