Date Reviewed: February 3, 2002
Favorite Trail:fast technical single tracks
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $2500.00
Strengths:Light weight bike, & best value for money
Has good components
Brakes!!!!!!!
Weaknesses:Frame had a bit of lateral flex around the crank.
Richies stem & bars had flex, but is easy to swap during the buying stage & suggest you do so!
Similar Products Used:GT Arrowhead (cannot even compare this piece of crap)
Avanti Agressor
Bike Setup:Bike is 9900ZM- well think its the same bike!!
Hayes hydro discs, Mars Forks, Ritchies accessories (seat& post, stem, pedals) XT crank shifters and rear derailier, LX for rest of drivechain. Total weight 23.5 Lb
Bottom Line:Bike has generally improved my riding and geometry really suits the technical type riding I prefer. Bike is light & well balanced & good value. Only problems all stem from crapoffs, have broken all Ritchies componentry, and as such advocate to avoid it like the plague for bang for $.

Favorite Trail:Most
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1200.00
Purchased At:Penney Farthing
Strengths:Reasonably light at 25 lbs, with Magura Clara disks, Rockshox seatpost added.
Nicely finished welds and detail.
Very stiff frame.
Disks are really strong, and susp.seat post takes the big hits.Very Raceable
Weaknesses:None so far.Still getting used to it after riding a Mongoose nx8.1
Similar Products Used:Demoed many bikes before buying this one.
Bike Setup:Wheeler 9990 zxi with Magura Clara disks.Manitou mars fork-upgraded to Super specs with lokout and dampning adj.,XTR front deirellier, and crank.XT rear ,Rockshox seat post.Time pedals.Tioga xc tires.X223 Mavic rims .Riser bars.
Bottom Line:After taking back a Haro XLS2.0 fullsusser because of the flexy frame(Im only 180lbs)I thought bugger it Ill buy a nice rigid hardtail. The Wheeler brand is made in Taiwan and sold mainly to Germany etc,and doesnt reach USA.The bike I have seems to vary to the other reveiwer in that it came std. with the Mars and disks, and it is clear cote over brushed alloy. This bike is light and really climbs well and with the addition of lokout makes it even better on roads as well.It has taken a bit of getting used to over the fully but will be worth it in the long run as I am getting quicker and getting fitter. Its a real looker too-all red and silver.Buy it if you want top components for a great price.

Favorite Trail:Volcan De Agua
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Everything, light, XT cranks, derailleurs, disk mounts, avid arch rival,Time ATAC pedals Frame looks AWESOME~! and it's made of easton Aluminium
Weaknesses:WTB Saddle, and grips and wheeler customer service. Plus you can't get them anywhere, only if you go to Taiwan, Germany, Poland?
Similar Products Used:Giant XTC SE-1, Giant DS-1 , GT Backwoods, Balance AL-150, Haro XCS, Giant Reineer SE.
Bike Setup:XT Cranks, XT derailleur, XT Hubs, Mavic 222 Rims, Rictchey seat post and stem, Passaz Carbon fiber riser bar, WTB grips, XT Shifters, Avid Rival Arch brakes and SD 2.0 Levers. Ritchey speedmax tires and Manitou SX-R suspension.
Bottom Line:This Bike is the one you fall in love with . First, it looks awesome, the combination of mate black and orange graphics, and Manitou fork is amazing. The component blend is perfect.

On the weight side, mine weights 24.5 Lbs. I feel it to be very light.

The Avid brakes perform much better than Shimano XTR or XT's. way better! they perform close to the Avid Mechanical disk ones... but not the same.

The geometry of the frame is perfect for racing, i even do downhill on this bike, i have beaton the crap out of this bike, resulting in a very durable, bombproof and light bike.

where can you find this on this days???? The only weak point might be the rims, they are light delicate cross country racing rims, so you have to be careful.

I replaced my flat bar for a carbon riser bar, and noticed it's enahancements on the first ride, it's a BIG difference for good.

The suspension is not the greatest, but it really feels plush and let's you go down on bad tracksat high speeds.

If you have the chance to buy one, DO IT@! i would buy another one if i had the money.
