Strengths:    Nice lite aluminum frame that is disc brake ready, and it is a great deal.

Weaknesses:    wheels are heavy, front fork(manitou magnum r) is too soft for riders over 180 lbs.

Bottom Line:
It is a great deal at 8 bills that comes with a 7005 aluminum frame with disc brake mounts. It is a good build up bike for the rider that can only afford to do one thing at a time like I did.

Strengths:    Price- I got the bike for over $200 off retail, Feel- the bike is light and fast, Components- nice mix of the price, Frame- the Al. frame is light

Weaknesses:    Cheap rims, Manitou Spider for broke after less than 40 miles

Bottom Line:
The is no bike on the planet that is a better value. It's not the best bike money can buy, but it's the best bike money can buy under $800. With the money saved it is very upgradeable.

Strengths:    This is a great bike for the money, good components and great service from Wheelin / Dealin Bike Shop here in Lincoln. They also tuned up my other bike (FS750)

Weaknesses:    None that I have found yet, I had a tooth missing on the cog on the rear derailleur, but the bike shop fixed that right away.

Bottom Line:
This is the best bike I have ever owned, it was on sale because it was last years model. I couldn't find anything that had the same quality components for anywhere near this price. It rocks!!!

Bottom Line:
Don't get a 99, check out the 2000s. Quality everything, disk brakes, manitou shock, XT. With a new BBracket and Cassette you are ready to race. Go to you local shop and ask about it. I have a 99 apina 600 and I wish I would have weighted.
