Strengths:    light, cheap, strong for an XC frame

Weaknesses:    rims are weak, magnum R was sh*t

Bottom Line:
this bike is a sleeper, its held up to urban, freeriding and downhill for three years with no major damage. like I said the rims are crap i destroyed them in less than 2 months

Strengths:    Price, weight, features for the price, handles great!, Judy's are nice and stiff, tires bite well (even in gravel), easy to maintain. Very easy to upgrade.

Weaknesses:    SEATPOST HAS TO GO! Telescope suspension or Thudbuster is the way to go. Stem & risers need upgrade.

Bottom Line:
GREAT BIKE FOR THE MONEY! I was even able to buy it, and have money leftover for my wedding in May 02!! I love the way this bike handles, great climbing comfort, light weight frame makes uphill a breeze, and downhill fast! Even though my now WIFE doesn't like to hear that. Handles well on single track, technical rides, fireroads, whatever I have the cajones to throw at it. Easy to upgrade, and I've chosen to finish off the upgrades as opposed to getting a F/S bike. As long as my body will hold up, I'll hold on to my Rockhopper A1 FS and hold off on full suspension.

This is the perfect bike for novice/intermediate (like me!) XC riders on a budget who want to go out and get a ride time after time.
