Strengths: Frame, Fork, Wheelset, Seat, Headset, CranksWeaknesses: Bar, Seatpost, Stem, TiresBottom Line: This is a great bike for the money. I ride hard XC and Urban. I suggest getting heavier springs for your Judy because it bottoms on anything over 4 ft. I've been doing a 5 fter and I've resently developed a really bad creak in my bb. Its a little heavy for racing but will work. Great all around bike. Its a great bike to buy if you don't have a huge wad of cash.

Strengths: beefy frame, looks great, good value, disc comp rims,Weaknesses: Heavy. Springs in the judy fork are noisy. Had a problem with the freehub-it locked up and had to be replaced (Raleighs warranty covered it).Bottom Line: A good bike for the price. Super tough frame-if you break it you have really done somthing big/stupid. Get rid of the suspension seat post. Overall a fun, reliable bike to ride that gets lost of compliments

Strengths: Great value, good looking bike, can't go wrong with a RaleighWeaknesses: Haven't found any.Bottom Line: Really happy with this bike, it has handled everything I have thrown at it. Raleigh makes a great bike for the price. If anyone needs an M-80 I might be able to part with it if the price is right.
P.S. The guys at Arapahoe Cyclery were great, very patient and they have free annual tune-ups as long as you own the bike.

Similar Products Used: I rode an M-80 for the last four years and decided to up-grade this year. Never had any problems with the M-80 other than I was fitted for the wrong size when I began mountain biking. Tested the Gary Fischer Hoo Koo E Koo and the Specialized RockHopper. Went with the Raleigh because I was really happy with the M-80.
Bike Setup: Call me old fashion but swapped the clipless pedals for clips. Also upgraded to an XT rear-end, swapped for mythos tires and switched the bar-ends for some that look like they belong on a bike.

Strengths: Unbeatable valueWeaknesses: weightBottom Line: !! This is my wife's first mountian bike. She got the bug and wanted a real bike so we started looking. she test rode at least 20 bikes at 4 different shops. Kept coming back to this one. The disk brakes stop on a dime even in wet conditions. She has really enjoyed it and her second time out on it was a race I talked her into. The only thing I could knock about it is the weight. It's a tiny bit heavier than other frames in the $1000 MSRP catagory, but it more than makes up for it with the sweet ride it gives. If it wasn't a 16 inch (and I wasn't afraid of her kickin my butt) I would sneak it out for a long ride.
Oh yeah, it looks really cool too.

Strengths: 7005 frame, XT/LX components, replaceable derailleur hanger.
Seat post notch faces forward, away from the rear tire's sparkling of mud and water. Great value for your $.Weaknesses: Seat post, and handlebar stem are both generic , although they work OK
Bottom Line: A great value. I raced an entire season with this bike and it performed excellent. No complaints.

Strengths: Just getting into some serious mountain biking. So far for my skills it handles great. I love the suspension. Even the seat post is a huge difference.Weaknesses: None so farBottom Line: So far I love this bike. I had spoken to many long time bikers on the M600. Once they looked it over they all said it is an awesome bike for the price. It can't be beat. I had met 2 people last weekend with M600's and they have had theirs for the whole season and they love it.

Strengths: I have had this bike for several months now and have had no problems. It is in my opinion the best bike on the market for the money. The Judy XC has worked great. The bike has great components. Try finding a bike for this price with the same components.Weaknesses: On my last ride my vuelta vision rear rim bent. Its not raleighs fault its vuelta's.Bottom Line: This bike is the best on the market for the dough. I love it.

Great climbing abilityWeaknesses: None yet...Bottom Line: I've really been enjoying this bike so far. It is very responsive on tight twisty singletrack, and climbs like a dream. Unlike last year's model, this year's has V-brakes (Koski)instead of disk. These have been more than adequate riding around here, where there a no big mountains, and brake overheating is not a problem. The Judy XC fork smoothes out the bumpiest trails, and the bike has generally handled anything I have thrown at it. I looked at several other manufacturers, but didn't even bother to test ride any, since they couldn't even come close to the same quality for the price - it would have meant either lower quality components or a 6061 frame instead of 7005. If you're on a budget, and want to spend your money on a good bike instead of paying for a name plate, give this bike a look - you'll like what you will find. As someone mentioned under last year's review of this bike, the guys at Cycle Logic In Raleigh have been great - check 'em out if you live in the area.
