Favorite Trail:Hidden Valley
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:the Duke of Windsor
Strengths:the low price for XTR, XTR, XTR, XTR... you get the point
Weaknesses:not the lightest bike in the world but still lighter than most hardtails in its price range
Similar Products Used:Oryx equipe gold '98, Oryx HTA 750 '00, Garyfisher supercaliber, garyfisher... alot of hardtail ok
Bike Setup:XTR, Sid Sl
Bottom Line:can't complain, every other bike with these parts costs alot more. XTR cranks are cool and so are the rest of the parts. If you want reliable this is it

Bottom Line:I loved my 98 Oryx Equipe Gold so much that when I sold it I went out and bought a Pure Gold. I love this one as much as my Equipe Gold. It is fast, easy to turn, strong and agile. ne of the best bikes I've ever tried. Five Chillies for a great bike

Oryx Equipe Gold
RS SIDS
Full XTR
Bottom Line:First of all, I don't have a pure gold. I have a 98 equipe gold( with full XTR and SIDS). It is a great bike. Fast on the climbs, quick on single track, a rocket fast descender, and can be steered with your finger tips. Five stars for a great race ready bike at a great price.

Bottom Line:

When you first see this bike you are in aww. You think All XTR components (derailleurs, cranks, brakes, hubs), Rock Shox Sid Ti fork, KORE stem, handle bar, and seat post, and that beautiful orange colour! But when you pick this bike up, WOW are you surprised. It must be over 25lbs. Now this is not a lot of weight, but a bike with the kind of components on this bike should weigh in at about 22-23lbs not 25. I give this bike 2 stars because of its weigh problem (which is just because the frame is heavy). I would only give it one, but because it is selling at such a low price it gets 2. Instead of buying this bike I purchased the Rocky Mountain Thin Air (see reveiw for Thin Air).

Bottom Line:

I think the oxgold frame of the Oryx is top rate the DBS welding process leaves an awesome finnish and the ride quality is top notch I have only rode it for a copuple of months but durabillity doesn't seem to be a problem . This is the second procycle bike I have bought (the first is a dual suspension which I love for casual trail riding) The gold rides right looks great and has agood personallity on the trails nice and predictable ,resiliant and forgiving no alumonum bike ride here . but seems to be stiff while climbing all around great bike
Overall Rating:5
