Strengths: Very fast and has good conering considering that it is a steel frame. It has no weight penalty that the harsher ALU frame, gives you alot better ride. Nicely put together welds, and the algular tubes look very cool while making the frame stonger torsionally. All together the best steel frame money can buy for the price.Weaknesses: I wish there was a disk mount!! I like vee's because they are light, but what if tech takes a turn for the better, and disks become lighter, obviously this frame will last that long, so thats why i want them!Bottom Line: Amazing bike for the price, but i also got mine for alot less than other people can. Rides like a dream, and climbs a hell of a lot better than a FS bike, get real get steel!

Bike Setup: I bought this bike as a frame alone, as the special race edition that Marin made for their team riders, its the same frame just different color. I have my own specs on it, which are full xtr, with a mars up front, easton bars, thompson seatpost, nice tomac wheelset, other goodies..

Strengths: Light extremely 'ultra foco' smooth rideWeaknesses: If I had to say one thing the top tube is quite high that kind of makes you feel like you are riding tall - but you get used quick.Bottom Line: I will NEVER ride an aluminum hardtail again.
The ride quality on this Marin is amazing!
It is quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Strengths: First, your description is way off. The Team Marin is a columbus Ultrafoco frame, which is incredibly light and well built. It comes all XT with an XTR rear der, and a manitou Mars Elite fork. The big plus is that the steel frame is much lighter than comparably priced options (IF,IBIS, Ritchey), and it absorbs shock way better than aluminum hardtails (with almost no weight penalty). The fork is well suited to the package, and the XT/XTR setup is very nice.Weaknesses: Like the other custom steel hardtails, it isn't cheap. Also, the standard package has some house parts that shouldn't be there for the price...However the great guys at Bike Pedlar swapped me up some better things for MSRP. Also, it was a bit hard to get (even though the shop was a major Marin dealer), and was shipped with the wrong fork after a substantial delay.Bottom Line: If you want a custom quality steel frame, this is the lightest you can get, and the setup is considerably less expensive than other options in steel hardtails. An IF with this setup would be $3k, and is heavier and I didn't like the ride as much--though that is more a personal preference. This is a race worthy bike that also would suit weekend warriors looking for a good ride without going to full suspension. Get it quick, because I doubt they'll make many, and soon good steel will only be had from custom outlets--a shame given that my bike is lighter than any of my friend's aluminum bikes and handles better.
