Strengths: good frame nice and strong,
the manitou shocks make for a very comfortable ride,
handles superbly,
Weaknesses: I've found nothing that I've been frustrated with, I ride the bike hard and it hasn't let me downBottom Line: brilliant bike at a good price, New Zealand dollar usually sucks big time when it comes to american imported stuff, If you see it on sale get it its good, absolutly one of the best setup bikes I've had for the price. Yeah the bike is really good, best one I've had anyway,.
Favorite Trail: theres so many here hard to choose
Duration Product Used: 1 Year
Purchased At: 950

Strengths: Light bike, strong brakes, great shifting and fastWeaknesses: None spotted so farBottom Line: For the price paid in UK, £570, should have been £875 a bargain. Best bike I have owned. Weekend trails previously ridden on my own Trek are now even more fun due to speed and better deore/XT set up. Hubs very stiff at first but have now really loosened up.

Strengths: Strong Frame
Good Stock FormWeaknesses: Ovation Brakes (took them off after the test drive)
Front derailleur
WheelsBottom Line: This bike has been the kindest of any I have owned. I will admit that I am primarily a city user, but even so, the trails I used it on last summer were no match to its handling. I took it out to the nearest national park and the suspension held up far better than I had expected. The frame is extremely strong, although maybe also a little heavy.
The one problem I had was the the front derailleur was forcing my chain to skip right off the crank at the top gear, and not hitting the bottom one at all. No amount of adjustment could fix it, so we had to put in a different crank rod.
Also, I didn't think of it until now, but the wheels are quite slow. I guess the hubs are sluggish, but I'll get that looked into. Nto a big deal, I have strong legs.
Buying in Canada would be a recommendation to any near-borader American riders. Thh dollar conversion will be greatly to your benefit.

Strengths: clipless pedals
especially wheelsWeaknesses: weight somewhat
slow wheelsBottom Line: its pretty tight. the front hub screwed up . i seriously hate the hubs. they do not spin fast at all. my friends wal mart bike wheels spin longer , no lie. but strong wheels though.i abuse them no doubt. good bike to buy . buy new wheels if you want to go fast. keep wheels if you want to abuse. im gonna get the crossrides to race and keep the 139's on ovation disc hubs to play round with.
all in all good bike buy it wonderful parts on it. shifts perfectly.

Strengths: Avid Single Digit 5 Brakes, Manitou SX fork, XT rear derailler, light and strong aluminum frame, disc ready hubs and mounts, Mavic wheels -- for $800!!! Best bike I could find for the money.Weaknesses: One very small complaint -- I know they are trying to keep the weight of the bike down, but those ultra-thin race tubes are a joke. My first ride was a 30 minute, very light, off-road ride; I put 9 patches on the rear and it still wouldn't hold air. Thank God for Slime tubes.Bottom Line: Best bike I could find for the money. I realize there are better machines out there, but not for $800. The geometry fits me very well. I am amazed every time I ride at the climbing and accelerating ability. Strong frame, handles awesome, and weighs in at about 26 pounds. I think I can ride this one for quite awhile.
If you ride cross-country and are looking for a light-weight, strong bike with a good mix of quality components, take a good look and the Marin.

Bike Setup: I've only had the bike for 3 weeks. So far, everything is just as it was when I bought it (except the tubes).
