Strengths: Strong light frame. Great geometry and climbs extreamly well. This is the number one choice in it's price range. Serious bike for a not-so-serious price.Weaknesses: Saddles rides pretty hard, but can be changed for a small amount.Bottom Line: I've tried a lot of bikes in this price range (Specialized Rock hopper comp, Giant Rainierse, Trek) and to be honest you can't really go wrong with any of them, but the Nail trail just seems to have a little extra. On trails the power transfer from pedal to wheel is really good and the bike responds well to hard conditions. If you're looking to buy a bike in the $600 to $900 price range you could do a lot worse than get the Nail trail

Strengths: Beautiful paint scheme. Blows away anything else sub $1000!
Quality Components right off the showroom floor.
A frame that will last me a looong time, with disc brake mounts to boot!Weaknesses: Lack of Product awareness amont the general public. For the price, there is no weekness.Bottom Line: I own the best looking bike of all my Friends, and I can keep up with bikes costing twice the price (Stumpjumpers/Kleins/etc...) This bike comes with good enough components, I will not need to upgrade a thing until something breaks. The Monitou R shock dampens everything I throw at it (This shock is not for serious jumps though). The only other bike that rode as nicely as this one was $250 dollars more. For anyone on a sub $750 budget, you can not buy a better bike (Of course this is an opinion). The bottom line is Marin makes the best looking bikes other than customs, and you need to try a lot of bikes in your price range before you buy anything. Check out a Marin even if it means you have to drive a while to get to a dealer. I haven't owned this bike a long time, but I have ridden mountain bikes for years. I know this is a great bike!

Strengths: The forks are realy good (Manitou Magnum R) the rebound damping makes them realy smooth and plush. The Shimano components are good (all Deore) and the ovation cranks and brakes are also quality items. On a flat trail it's realy stable and easy to ride but.............Weaknesses: There is too much flex in the frame for an alu bike - when climbing you can realy feel it give - mine is an 18.5" and I think they have got it wrong for this size - maybe the 17" would be better/stiffer. I had to replace all the cables as they suffered from huge internal friction despite my various methods at lubrication. The bottom bracket needed replacing after 3 months - it's cheap and nasty. The bike seems very big for it's size - I'm 6'2" and I should suit the 18.5" frame exactly but I could do with much more standover clearance - I think the shop should have seen this when I was trying it (this is my first bike in 20yrs)Bottom Line: If you are a trail rider this bike if fine as long as you don't buy the 18.5" or bigger frame. If you want something to throw around and attack the ups and downs then I suggest you look elsewhere.

Strengths: The overall ride. Magnum Adjustable Fork, Frame, good Styling.Weaknesses: The tires pick up a lot of goatheads.Bottom Line: Awsome Bike. I never was one for orange, but it still looks great in my opinion. Very Nice Adjustable Fork. Very nice seat with comfort zone. The aluminum frame is very light and strong. Good components.

Strengths: Good price for comps fitted, Magnum R forkWeaknesses: Finish quality a bit tacky....horid coloursBottom Line: Rides nice, does every thing you ask of it, nothing flashy
Manitou Magnum R forks are the asiest and best riding fork I have come across so far in the price range of the bike.
