Strengths: Frame is nuke proof. It has a low profile, a long top tube and a long wheel base wich make it very steady on hight speed descent. The frame is extremely stiff so the energy put out on your pedals goes strait to the rear wheel. great descent hard tail.
Weaknesses: All the parts that came with the bike exept for the stem, cables, and seat. Bike on the heavy side but strenth makes up for it. Not very good on ascents ,It prefers to go down as opposed to up.
Bottom Line:
have been riding mountain bikes for 18 years, competed on the senior sport class world cups for 4 years. I mesure 6'4" weigh 240 lbs and destroy bikes. I have broken five frames and a ton of parts (thank god for sponsors). I bought the quake in 2001 and have broken almost everything on it exept for the fork (surprisingly) and frame. The frame is a little on the heavy side but absolutely bullet proof. The quake series was put out in souvenir of Jake Watson "Earth Quake Jake" who raced for Marin and trajically died during a world cup in 1999. Jake was about 6'4" 220 lbs thats why he got the name earthquake. All to say that this frame is awesome and if you can still get one buy it it will last a lifetime.

Strengths: Everything possible
Weaknesses: None as yet
Bottom Line:
I only bought this frame for £40 UK from my friend. This frame has blown me away in the fact that I terrorised it and tortured it and it begs for more! Its an old frame by todays standards but has really stood the test of time! I love the its tank type indestructible design!

Strengths: Every thing is a strength on this bike, except the forks, they must have been a dodgy pair becuase i have only heard good about them
Weaknesses: No weakness except for the forks, they snapped the other day under braking from my very good Promax disc brake
Bottom Line:
Very good bike, i am not a small person and i throw the bike around a bit and not a fraction of sloppyness or any thing bad about it Great XC bike, light, strong, big headset, strong welds 18 inch, the best

Strengths: Frame, it is the only thing remaining from the original spec bike!
Weaknesses: Where to begin, First to break was the Ovation Crank and bent chain rings. Crap Nsync Forks.
Bottom Line:
Bomb proof frame, which has proved an exellent platform for upgrading. Quite a long wheel-base, but still good for blasting down trails, jumping and general pissing about. Ideal for UK terrain. Nice, don't go large until you have upgraded: Wheels, Forks, Bars, Chainset, but standard V's aren't too bad.
Bike Setup: Marzochi Z1's, Mavic 321's, Hope XC4's, X-Lite Risers.

Strengths: The frame is a very strong and reliable one which is what you'd expect from a marin frame. One that can be built to create a stunning jump/ trail/ slalom bike
Weaknesses: err...where to begin, weight, rims (broke suprisingly quick), forks are below par, tyres, cranks (err, they kinda bent!!) for such huge chainstays theres little gusseting around the bottom bracket, bars (XC on a slalom?), chain stays are too big - on a 22 tooth the chain slakens and can sit between the chainstay and tyre!! causing damadge to the frame...it happens.
Bottom Line:
buy a coyote frame an do it up, its lighter, stronger and looks better, you dont get the chain problems running a small tooth and large tyres, Its bloody hard to fit a chainstay protecter cos the stays are damn large. Dont choose the synk forks, or the ritchy comp wheels, or the cranks. this is a stunning frame for the money...if your jus getting into it, then this is a good frame, but to everyone else this is a frame with too many design problems that cant be rectified with gizmos.

Strengths: ermm everything, sweet fork, good components, fantastic frame SO CHEAP!!!
Weaknesses: none, not even a little baby one
Bottom Line:
get one quick. the frame is excellent, the fork is smooth, all the components are good quality (but some people dont like the gripshifters). everything on it is incredible value for money and quality, with none of the usual starting problems that u get on new bikes. hurry up and make your marin dealer richer.
