Strengths:    $ from supergo, frame is light and stiff

Weaknesses:    stock components are cheap and need replacing as they ware

Bottom Line:
ok so the fork is nice when it works which isn't very often on my bike atleast. i've gone through 2 noleens and the lbs has been awesome about taking care of things for me. i'm paying more for my next bike and shopping locally! b/c of the service i've gotten from ski country and ben in asheville nc. i'm supposedly getting a new fork fri. a duke from k2 to replace the noleen. it has been 3 weeks but turn around was only 2-3 days from k2. all in all i guess k2's been good about this too it's just frustrating to be off your bike for 3 weeks. good thing it's been raining and i've been kayaking instead of riding anyway.

Strengths:    This bike is a great value. It is well made with a component group that is perfect for anyones budget.

Weaknesses:    The tire are not knobby enough. They spin while climbing and skid in tight turns.

Bottom Line:
This bike rides great! I would definately buy another K2 bike. Everything works well. No problems.

Strengths:    this bike has lots of strengths. first the price! leftover from 2001 almost half of retail (it's cheap enough to spend $ on upgrades). the frame is stiff, light, agile, wellgo peddles, NO chainsuck!, component set is adequite-good, i love the noleen fork!

Weaknesses:    the firex cranks are a little flexy and i'm only 170 lbs., the saddle has to go(but almost all factory saddles do), the enduroraptors that came on my bike are tolerable but could use replacing when $ allows, the noleen fork does loose about 5 lbs. or pressure on one side in about 20 miles of riding but that's not a big deal to me.

Bottom Line:
for the $ supergo sold these bikes for they are awesome!!! it's an awesome first bike, and a good bike for agressive xc riders who don't want FS bikes. don't let the shock scare you away, they can/do fix any problems you may have. i've got mine set kinda soft for xc and have ended up riding w/some friends that freeride and have done several 5 ft. drops on it and it's smooth as silk. everyone i ride w/has been impressed w/the performance i've been getting out of this bike. not to mention stunned w/the price.

Strengths:    good weight, Noleen fork and decent overall equipment

Weaknesses:    fork is a little too hard, chain broke, Nanoraptor tires ???

Bottom Line:
I've been riding this bike for a year and plan to ride it (the hard way) for 2 or 3 more. I upgraded from a DB Topanga and don't regret it at all. Best components for the price (except for the chain, of course). Fork works excellent through tough terrain; no problem at all with air leaking. Frame dimensions are perfect for my 5'6" height.

Strengths:    Awsome bike, light handles great, feels as good as a soft tail in the smaller stuff, yet it is really stiff. Bike is awsome with original equipment but there is always room for improvement with more $$$

Weaknesses:    Noleen shock. Its an awsome shock, except it looses air, had it rebuilt with no good news

Bottom Line:
Awsome bike if you are willing to put up with the shock problem, i beleive K2 will exchange the fork for another brand under warranty

Strengths:    Light frame,fast,great componets,good shock(so far)

Weaknesses:    Crappy WTB Nanoraptor tires

Bottom Line:
Yeah well I paid only 579 cause it was a hold over from last year, it did sell for 1000 last year so I got a good deal. My first time out I crashed and broke the handle bar and seat....my helmet cracked a little too so its not really anything bad about the bike. After that I have had no trouble. I love the shock even though I have heard some bad things about it. This bike is very light and agile and willing to accelerate quickly so it is good for a wide array of uses. My advice is if you see one of these buy it, and after that put on some decent tires and a riser bar, it made a huge difference.

Strengths:    Ligthweight, GREAT price

Weaknesses:    My one and only complaint would be the Noleen shock. The shock is a tad heavy, but it is the most tempermental fork i have ever owned, it took me a good week and 100 miles to adjust the bounce out of it. Now it works great though, it just seems to be a testy fork.

Bottom Line:
K2 seems to be making some of the best valued bikes on the market right now. When purchasing my next bike K2 will be my FIRST choice, dollar for dollar they pack a lot of punch. This bike is lightweight, responsive, almost all of the components are aftermarket straight from the factory. I love my bike, moreso than my old StumpJumper or Trek 8000. The only complaint I have is the Noleen shock, which takes quite a bit of time and a lot of trial and error to adjust properly.
This is a great bike for a "weekend warrior" or an eveyday trail pounding fanatic. It is an incredible value.

Strengths:    Light cheap bike that works well out of the crate!!!

Weaknesses:    Noleen forks prone to losing air/but when they work they are a great fork!

Bottom Line:
Ridden this bike for the last 6 mths.Great budget hardtail, light and fast. I have had a few problems with the noleen forks losing air but that seems to be sorted out now. The whole package works well and with a good set of tryes fitted this bike can give some of my mates pricey units a rev up.
Good value for $$$$. I'd buy another K2 product.

Well after selling off my old Trek 8000 I was hunting for a new frame or bike to build up. I checked Craigslist and found a 2001 K2 ZED 5.0 in decent shape for $200.00 After checking everything out the only real issues were the cables needed to be changed. IH Warrior 5.0 or K2 ZED 4.0

Based on specs, price and availability I have narrowed my choices for a new cross country bike to an Iron Horse Warrior 5.0 and the K2 ZED 4.0. Both hard tails and have very similar components. Is there a compelling reason to choose one versus the other?Read More »
