Strengths:    Frame is very strong. Has sustained multiple 6 foot drops onto flat concrete, countless hard wrecks, urban mishaps, and the works, and is still going strong.

Weaknesses:    Handbuilt frame is not exactly straight, but this will vary from one to the next. Just look (and ride) before you buy. Components are terrible if you are going to ride hard.

Bottom Line:
Frame is very tough. Unless riding for comfort or distance, buy it small. That way it is easier to maneuver and to toss around. If you are looking to ride only lightweight XC, get something else. If you are looking to ride hard on trails, pavement, jumps, whatever, then get this. I suggest buying only the frame, or the cheapest version that has the 4.0 reinforced frame. I bought it labeled as a 2.0 (4.0 frame with lesser componenets package) and have since replaced just about everything. Frame is good, but do not waste your money on the complete bike, you will just have to replace everything anyway.

Bottom Line: buy the frame, add the right components yourself.

Strengths:    Strong durable frame, light weight, nimble handling, smooth shifting, great brakes and suspension fork.

Weaknesses:    Hard seat, non-adjustable seat post clamp. Not a heck of a lot.

Bottom Line:
This is the first real mountain bike I purchased and was a steal for a sale price of $489 with Deore/LX components. Handles great at my weight of 210lbs. The saddle was very sharp looking, but was hard as hell hence the new Serfas saddle. The WTB NanoRaptor tires aren't aggressive enough for mud, but are great for all else. They're very smooth and quiet on asphalt. I will probably upgrade to the more agressive EnduroRaptor for the winter. The pedals were really cheap though they serve their purpose. I definitely recommend K2 products and will probably buy from them when I upgrade.

Strengths:    Frame is tight and light, trail worthy yet affordable, well spec'd

Weaknesses:    Hard tail is not an exaggeration i.e. the seat is whack from crack to back. Oh and the pedals could not take the pain so they broke.

Bottom Line:
This bike rocks for a hardtail. It's light and sturdy. I weigh 200+ and I ride off rode on rocky trails. The bike can take it. It is upgrade worthy because the frame is well machined and well thought out. It comes ready for tough cross country riding and can take moderate drops.

If you are new in the sport and know for sure that you want to enjoy some off roading this bike is an excellent choice.

Go clipless ASAP and you will enjoy this bike to the fullest.
