Strengths: Great bike for the price. The bike takes a pounding every weekend at the park for an entire year no problems yet. Brakes work well on the trail and the front shocks reponds without too much "dip" as in some other entry level bikes.
Weaknesses: Gears! Difficult to change gears on the run..a lot of noise when changing to "granny gear"
Bottom Line:
Good bike for beginner. A little on the heavy side Cro-moly steel. A negative for roof top carrying or porting on the shoulder.

Strengths: Great, solid frame, decent parts package, easy to upgrade. Tight Grip Shifters keep you from shifting accidentally. Great cable locations!
Weaknesses: Frame weight...but not that bad for steel.
Bottom Line:
This is a great bike for beginners or even an experienced rider looking for a training bike. Eventhough hardtails seem to be a dieing breed, this is a bike that was well- worth the price.I had mine ready for XC trails in a matter of minutes. For a few additional dollars, you can purchase and install a lighter seat tube, saddle, headset, and handlebars. These additions dropped my bike's weight by just over 1Lbs.!

Strengths: Its a sturdy well put together bike.
Weaknesses: THe front shocks are crap. the shifters are stiff.
Bottom Line:
This is a great bike for beginners. Should work well on mountain trails though it is not good for racing at all it is way to heavy. The gear shifters are kind of stiff hard to move them.

Strengths: the triple triangle is really strong, you cant beat it.
Weaknesses: the head tube isnt all the best, my friend had the exact same frame as me and he snapped the head tube off of a 3 foot drop.
Bottom Line:
It is an ok frame but if you are into soem heavy free ride id buy a bike with a little beefier head tube, but, for general small drops and cross country, its a great bike.

Strengths: Strong Frame. Over all a good bike.Nothing has done any mager damage yet .
Weaknesses: Front Shock sucks! Im 14 and weigh 120lbs and I managed to battom them out every once an a while on not very callaenging stuff. Its heavy and the shimano shifting components are all screwed up! And its Heavy!
Bottom Line:
I've beaten the bike pretty well and all except the components held up so its an OK bike.
The bike is heavy, the components are not that great, and the shock sucks so just save up and buy a better bike.
Bike Setup: i took every thing off of it ecept the frame, now it has- rock shox judytt, shimano LX, maxxis kevelar tires, and more,

Strengths: strong triple triangle frame. big mtb tires. aluminium rims. rapid-fire shifters. plush fork. looks awsome. but the thing i really liked about it was the riser bar that came with it.
Weaknesses: fork headset and stem are pretty crapy, although the fork is kinda okay (it can get way better). its pretty heavy.
Bottom Line:
great frame, great name! GT hauls ass. this is a great bike for beginers and a great race entry bike. it could also be a good bike for amature trials and stuff.

Strengths: This frame is so durable that i was riding so hard i though the tail was going to give way but its came out in one piece, handling is supreme!
Weaknesses: Some of the parts are cheap parts, tends to rust everywhere! the frame is heavy and gear shifting sucks!
Bottom Line:
This is really a good bike for starters!!!!! watch the gears, they don't shift so well!

Strengths: I have been riding this bicycle for the past month. I shopped for bicycles for over a month, rode about 30 bicycles, and decided to buy the GT palomar because of it provided my with the ride I was looking for and an overall better ride than other bicycles. It was comfortable, had good synergy, good suspension, and good geometry in it's design. I ride recreationally on paved bike paths, fire roads, and mountain trails. I have enjoyed my rides with this bike and feel it is important to share the good qualities this bike has to offer as well as my experiences with other cyclists.
Bottom Line:
The GT palomar is a nice riding bicycle for recreation and mountain cyclists.
