Strengths: The price is awsome and the brakes work well the fork isnt the biggest but myne hasnt bottomed out and ive tried everything (my parents are gettin me a marzocchi when it breaks hehehe) i dont kno if this counts but the service i got was great too but this is a great begginers bikeWeaknesses: the rims have become egg shaped when i tried bottoming the shocks out like 4 times and wieght is what im goin to fix when i get the $$$Bottom Line: get this bike 4 ur 1st or 2nd mountain bike. its great cause u dont have 2 worry bout trashin it cuz it wont break (from wot ive doneat least) the rims are a ez fix and wieght isnt that bad (i would give it 4 1/2 overall but there isnt a option)

Strengths: IT IS A SOLID BIKE FOR THE MONEY.Weaknesses: THE BIKE IS VERY HEAVY. THIS BIKE IS NOT FOR RACING..Bottom Line: I BOUGHT THIS BIKE FOR MY FIANCE TO RIDE WITH ME SOME AND SHE LOVES IT. IT IS A PERFECT BIKE FOR MELLOW TRAILS AND SIDE WALKS. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A BIKE TO RIDE ON PAVEMENT THIS IS THE BIKE FOR YOU..I GAVE IT FOUR FLAMES BECAUSE OF WEIGHT...

Strengths: Frame is aluminium and dosent flex under load when performing tricks, headset is stock and is strong, forks are pretty crap. frame is chunky and feels strong when riding. most of the parts on the bike are non stock anyway so its hard to describe its strengths, because its just the frame i can comment on.Weaknesses: Crappy Suntour stock Forks.Bottom Line: Buy this bike if your looking to buy a new one because if a year later you are getting board of it you can upgrade it, the threadless fork system allows easy changing of the forks.

Strengths: Good ride, stable, comfortable so far. Great for a beginnerWeaknesses: None so far.Bottom Line: Works well for my kind of casual riding. Stable on gravel roads, occasional ditch hoping. Not fast enough when trying to out run 4 farm dogs. Ouch. hello pepper spray this spring. I'll be happy with this bike for a long time.

Strengths: PRICE...most of all. The component setup and quality of the bike can't be touched by their competition.Weaknesses: suspension forkBottom Line: My original purchase reason was for exercise, so I did not want to invest a lot of money. I did some research using this sight and manufacturer sites...and made the choice of GIANT. I quickly got into mountain bike trails.
I'm 6'3" and holding on to 220 lbs. The Suntour fork was mush under my "superior" body frame (fatboy). I upgraded the fork, at the recommendaiton of GIANT, to the SX-R adding the stiff spring upgrade.
I realize the fork upgrade is worth as much as the bike, but I like the Boulder SE and got a great deal on the fork over the internet ($135). SO I've got under $400 in the bike, I'm firguring on racing. Just going out and having a good time on the trail. If I trash it on the trial...who cares. I've watched several buddies trash their $1000 bikes and be sick over it...I get to laugh.
I'm planning on buying another GIANT bike in the near future.

Strengths: The price is excellent for this bike. It has good components and the brakes are great. The front shock is coil but I'm 230 pounds and have hit some big jumps with it and it has yet to bottom out.Weaknesses: I hate the threaded fork. The handle bars are always moving on me after jumps even after i titen them.Bottom Line: This is the best bike i have ever seen for the money. Even an expert biker should buy this just because it is so affordable and worth every penny even if it is just a rally bike you cant hurt it. I think with upgraded components this could be the best hardtail out there.

Strengths: the brakes are really good. nice price for the type of bike. the heavy weight of the frame gives u good traction. a good overall bike for the beginner RECOMENDED!!Weaknesses: some of the parts are kinda bad, but for a beginner there perfect. The derailluers ar only altus, so if u get really good i would suggest you get a better bikE or upgrade them. IT IS REALLY HEAVy and the fork is only coil so u cant adjust it. any medium size or big drops u;ll bottom it out.Bottom Line: the price is awsome. this is a really a perfect bike for the beginner. but if you are advanced and do alot of mtn biking do not get it. spend a little more money and get somthing better. or maybe upgrade it but i would rather get a new one

Strengths: Great Balance, predictability, price (for a beginner bike) handled great on small to med. jumps.a fantastic bike.Weaknesses: somewhat heavy, tail end jumps alot on small down hill, could use a smaller granny gear.Bottom Line: i took this bike over some pretty wicked stuff in big bear, it handled like a champ. i love the balance of this bike, i took some 32mph sandy blind spots, had the bike sidways with out fishtailing, (white knucked of course).the front shocks seem to clank pretty loud off verticals.

Strengths: Good handling in light off road conditions, Very comfortable, and the saddle is one of the most comfortable I've ever ridden.Weaknesses: Front suspension isn't adjustable, however, the SR Suntour XR128 is a great deal for the price of the bike.Bottom Line: Good handeling. Great componets for the price. Very comfortable ride. This bike is good for the introductory mountain biker who rides tame trail, hardpack, or light off road conditions. I love it's comfort and predictable handling.

Strengths: price, look and strengthWeaknesses: heavyBottom Line: this has been a great bike. i have had no proplems with the stock parts, all changes are matters of personal taste. Bar and neck change make it better for an all around bike. sr suntour m8040 forks are heavy but strong. Frame is also heavy but for the price why complain. No problems yet w/ the derailers (shimano altus) and i love the shifters. a great beginners bike with a few changes it becomes solid under most conditions, a stong but heavy bike.
