Strengths: Inexpensive, strong frame, 7005 al( same frame as fuji's $850 bikes)factory discs, good handlingWeaknesses: terrible tires, cheap fork(rst 321, wheels are tough, but heavy. tektro brakes are good, but don't hold a candle to REAL disc brakesBottom Line: this frame is well worth the money. welds look as beautiful as on $1000+ bikes. in over a year of riding, have yet to have something major break ( and yes, i ride hard, i have 3 smashed ribs to prove it.) its a little short in the top tube, compared to the specialized, but not enough to impair you, just lean over a little more. very stable in the downhills, and verylittle flex when compared to other bikes in the under 1000 dollar range. i have even raced on it. all in all, i am satisfied. definately got my moneys-worth!

Strengths: sturdy, stable ride, Disc Brakes, Grippy Tires, All around good handling, you can't do much better in this price range.Weaknesses: Tuning the Discs and keeping them clean, junky Quando hubs, the seat's a pain, top tube's a little short for me.Bottom Line: This is alot of Bike for the money. Lots of Shimano (granted, low end) components. The disc brakes are nice too. The RST fork isn't hand-tunable and is a little soft for some, but I think it's good at absorbing the hits without the big rebound like a RS Judy. I'm a big kid (6'2", 200lbs.) and the frame has held up like a champ for over 800 miles. One big problem is the Quando hubs. After 300 miles My rear hub went bad and started knocking like crazy. Also, only buy this bike from a shop with mechanics that understand disc brakes. They take more know-how and adjustment than a part-time college student with a 24-7 buzz can provide. If you need an entry-level bike that will take lots of abuse, this bike is for you.

Strengths: Disk brakes are WONDERFUL!! No need to change out to a Hayes or Avid yet. Frame is strong and not only looks good but great ride.Weaknesses: Front Shock. Forget the RST and get a better shock.Bottom Line: The 2001 Fuji Thrill is a great entry level MTB for the money. I have been very please with the performance of the bike with the exception of the front shock.

Strengths: Nice solid frame. Very easy to control, brakes are outstanding. I didn't have the problems the first poster had, after initial break-in period and tune-up this bike stops on a dime and gives change. Large front chain cog is really too high ratio - I usually stick to the middle and small cogs, and rake through the rear cog sets. Which brings up the next point...Weaknesses: The rear deraileur is a pain to get tuned correctly, but once it's there it works. The seat belongs in a torture chamber. The front shocks seem too stiff for my taste.Bottom Line: For the money, I couldn't be happier. This bike is a real head-turner, guaranteed you won't see another one on the trail. (is this good or bad? I don't know.) The brakes are worth the price of admission alone. Buy a new seat immediately! Think about new deraileurs and fork a year down the road.

Strengths: The frame on the bike is nice and light, nice gearing system with all shimano parts in the front and back, and disk brakes are nice for a $500 bike.Weaknesses: The front shock on this bike is a RST 381CL and bottom out too much on little jumps and bumps on the trail. The disk brakes on the bike were a problem for the first month due to many needed adjustments with many hours going to fixing instead of riding. The seat on the bike is a little to hard when you are flying down the mountain.Bottom Line: The bottom line for this bike is if you are looking for a bike to go down a mountain and to go on the road for little money, and don't mind not having top-of-the-line parts then this is a bike for you.
