Strengths:    The Cannondale CAAD 4 frame and the Headshok are great.

Weaknesses:    If it is made by Coda, you will have to replace it, nothing conditional about it. Their components are absolute garbage.

Bottom Line:
Cannondale makes a great frame, but that is where it stops. The Coda components on their bikes are total trash, and everything with the Coda name on it will break in less than three months of riding. Their brakes are horrible, I went through three sets of Expert cranks in the first two months I had the bike, the seat post broke, and the Expert hubs locked up during a moderate rainstorm. I have had to carry the bike back to the car no less than four times. I am not particularly hard on the bike, and no one that I ride with has come close to the component failures that I have had. I love the frame, and that, coupled with my bike shop's hassle free warranty work, is the only thing that keeps me from throwing this cursed piece of crap back to Cannondale with a Texas Lemon Law petition attached to it. Grrrr.

Strengths:    Light frame, Great Shock, Responsive, Good Geometry, Handles Well.

Weaknesses:    Coda Wheels, especially the rear! Cheap LX shifters.

Bottom Line:
The bike handles well and is quite light (about 24 lbs). The frame is well-made and the head shock is great. The shock is responsive and it behaves the same all the time. It only needs a touch of air once every two or three weeks. The shifters (XT) work perfectly. I replace the junk stock pedals with Time ATAC, which are great. Now for the bad news, the Coda wheels are junk! They were impossible to keep true and I had to replace 4 spokes within the first few months. The Coda rear hub seized up and the bearing had to be replace by LBS. I replace these with Mavic CrossRides, which at least stay true. Overall, I really like this bike, but as other Cannondale owners have lamented, the Coda components are substandard. Also, the price is out of line considering the components (LX shifters, and Coda junk).

Strengths:    Geometry and suspension!

Weaknesses:    some of the components

Bottom Line:
Great bike! For me, it's all about the frame...everything else can be upgraded if required. I have ridden several Cannondales over the years, and the quality in their bike frames is second to none. They have spend alot of time getting their geometry and construction perfect, and this is pretty obvious when you spend some time on one of their bikes. I am also very happy with the supension - feels and looks great!

Strengths:    Weight, very light bike. Responsive, great for climbing! Acceleration is very nice.

Weaknesses:    Coda components, hate the crankset.

Bottom Line:
Feel like the $$ were worth it, great fork and frame (CAAD 4). Came with Mavic rims, everything else (coda) is so/so. Beginner to inter. should consider this bike. I tested every type of bike in this price range I could find, this c-dale f900 blew them all away.

Strengths:    CAAD 4 Frame, rims, color scheme.

Weaknesses:    small saddle for heavy guy

Bottom Line:
Excellent and very responsive, especially for a heavy rider like myself on tight, technical trails. So far has taken much abuse with no complaints. Excellent uphill response on packed, slippery trails.

Strengths:    It is very light, accelerates quickly, it is responsive, the lockable front suspension is a plus and the componentry is overall very good

Weaknesses:    So far no one. The Coda clip-ins could clip-out faster and with less effort

Bottom Line:
It is a great bike for the price. It surely beats the competition and it is sold only by competent dealers.

Strengths:    Light and Fast. Very Responsive to rider input.

Weaknesses:    The drive train. My chain broke twice and was replaced and a LX fdr is a little unspec'd for the price.

Bottom Line:
This is a great bike for XC use. It climbs like a goat on speed and follows the riders input. AND it is Light! The option for Disk brakes later is a great point as well.

Strengths:    Frame, Shock and Weight

Weaknesses:    Tires
Could have better shifters

Bottom Line:
It is probably the lightest bike you can buy for $1800 can. (under 23 pounds for a large) I think they could have speced a little bit better drive train for the money but your pay for the excellent frame and fork. The wheels have stood up to the abuse with no truing needed. I put a 1 1/2 gash in the tire on my second ride but that is what you get with light tires. I strongly suggest anyone should buy this bike that wants a great bike at a good price. Also the best attribute to it is that it is a Cannondale and you can't beat that.
