Strengths: Best Mountainbike ever. ELO, the frames Stifness, intergration between frame and components comeply very nicely.Weaknesses: NoneBottom Line: Superb machine - surely it had CODA components but the work nicely, offcourse there were and are bette components and som got opgraded over the periode i had it. But this bike gave me the possibilty too be the best i could be, and not the Kona or the Stumpy does that to the same degre.

Strengths: Unbelievably quick bike. CAAD 5 Frame. ELO Lefty. Bike Weight. Handling & Climbing ability... Need i say more?
Weaknesses: Some of the components are simply garbage. I've replaced the Disk brakes to Avid mech., the cranks to Race Face Next LP, and the Handle bar & Seat Post, Need to run a Computer wire to the rear of the bike. Ouch, it is a bit too stiff & with the low BB, you are gauranteed to hit stumps riding on the East Coast...Bottom Line: So, there i was, dreaming of what the ultimate XC bike might be. Now i am riding it!! Cannondale makes a great frame which is quite light and even better for climbing.
For the quality of bike, you simply cannot beat the price...
If you are looking for a rediculously face XC bike, yet willing and patient enough to replace the CODA components, this bike is for you!

Strengths: Very strong frame, and very lite. CAAD5 Frame, Titanium Spindle, Lefty, ELO, 100mm shock travel, AVID Mechanical Disc Brakes.Weaknesses: Stock Coda Disc brakes. I swapped out the tires and tubes after puncturing the rear tire a few times. They are more for racing, so they are lite weight.Bottom Line: Overall, I am very happy with this bike. I've had a few pretty good spills and the bike came out without a scratch. I on the other hand was not so lucky - now I know why you wear gloves :)
I got mine at the end of 2001 for 20% off sticker ($2299) and they swapped the brakes out for that cost.

Strengths: Light, Stiff Frame - Lefty travel and smoothness ELO is just soo slick.Weaknesses: The CODA brakes were REALLY bad till my LBS got them dialed in, but now I don’t even think of them – I just stop.Bottom Line: Hey, sure it is $$$ but the tech is all there. I am 6'5 and 220#, but with the ELO I can sprint, and climb with zero bob. Well – I have been thru some pretty bad crashes on this bike- and it still is holding up. Nothing has been replaced so far – and that is saying a lot.
Summary: great bike for alot of cash, try not to buy one with the CODA brake Setup.

Strengths: Great acceleration and ride. Light and fast. Lefty Shock has been good so far.Weaknesses: Coda Disc Breaks suck. They either squeak or don't work well or don't work at all. Do yourself a favor if you are going to get a cannondale and get one with Magura or even better Hayes.Bottom Line: This is a great racing bike which is still not too expense. If you want a cannondale, I would do yourself a favor and buy the next step up, the F2000, which already comes with Hayes Disc Breaks. Don't buy CODA Discs, they're a headache waiting to happen. I don't know why cannondale thinks they can make every possible piece of a bike on their own. Also, keep in mind the limited upgradeability of this bike, you're stuck with a CODA shock (for the most part), as well as CODA Hubs and it is a true hassle to get rid of the CODA disc breaks once you have them. It's a quick ride but the components have their problems.
