Strengths:    Excellent frame, Very light and very stiff. The Sram 5 gears work very well and makes you wander why spend much much more on other high-class gears.
The brakes are doing what they were built for just fine...

Weaknesses:    Front tire - IRC Notos doesn't handle that well...
The front suspension has only 60mm , would recoomend upgrading that part.
Another thing - change pedals to spd.

Bottom Line:
Good, light hardtail for beginners. Good frame maybe worth upgrading in the future.

Strengths:    Like Mercedes Cars; Cannondale's cheapest models offer same intrinsic top class build as their expensive models.
Great frame, Headshock stiffness and upgradeability, good value.

Weaknesses:    Crappy other gear and basic accessories to keep price low, not disc compatable.

Bottom Line:
Bought because of good basics (frame and headshock) for cheap price, then able to be upgraded to be my ideal MTB as finances allow.
Headshock front fork is as ideal basics as you get. Original Elastomer has far too fast (bouncy) rebound; air/oil fork cartidge needed to tame this.
Rear derailleur is plastic rubbish, upgrade to at least LX or else you will face an awfull mess of bits after a hard ride.
Rims have bad quality joins (next upgrade for me) and seat too squishy.
Otherwise a great way to get in the world of Cannondale build quality.

Strengths:    My girlfriend bought the bike because I work part-time at the LBS, got a really good price.

Weaknesses:    From day one the headshock sounds like a coke bottle rattling inside of the headtube. 3 trips to the bkie shop (that I work at) and they can't fix it. Girlfriend blames me, you know how that goes. On the third try LBS sent the fork to Cannondale (Crackandfail) for repair, the noise didn't even change pitch, might even be louder. Little woman won't ride it now, calling Cannondale to wee what they will do.

Bottom Line:
I only recommended this bike because everybody at the shop rides the damn things. I only ride KONA'S, and now I know why, there not over-priced crap.

Strengths:    THE FRAME, its light and very sturdy, considering it's hand made. Then thers's the brakes they are very strong. The back cogs and the back derallier. This is definately better that any bike I have tried.

Weaknesses:    Even though the brakes are strong they need constant ajusting. -But for a bike this nice (and expensive) it's a small upgrade.- I had some problems from the front deraillier. But the back was fine.

Bottom Line:
This is a good solid bike w/ a good frame, shocks, and strong brakes (although they need some work). The back deraillier (S-Ram) works fine, but I went Gung ho and changed everything to Shimano Deore LX. Other than minor upgrades, this bike is a great bike, with good looks for the money.

Strengths:    This bike is the lightest that I have seen in this price range. Change out tires if you realy plan on doing a lot of aggressive trail riding. I love this bike for the money.

Weaknesses:    Front shocks could use more travel

Bottom Line:
The most bang-for-the-buck. The grip shift is flawless. It shifts very fast. You can change multiple cogs at one time instead of one at a time as you do with "Rapid Fire" type shifters. Also this bike has very aggresive steering which keeps the ride very lively. So far, I have not seen anything that I like more for the money.

Strengths:    Excellent frame, stands up well to a 6'3" 200lb guy. The brakes are almost dangerously good. The welds are polished out, the paint is pristine. Attention to detail is incredible.

Weaknesses:    Some new tires and a new seat are on my immediate list. The IRC Mythos are too soft and bumpy for streets. The seat is rather punishing.

Bottom Line:
Excellent bike for the price, I am very happy with it.

Strengths:    Excellent all around bike. Headshock kicks but. Brakes are excellent.

Bottom Line:
Beautiful bike. I get pleasure from just looking at it. But, that is just where the pleasure STARTS. On the trail, this bike is excellent. I am a beginner MB'er who wanted to get a solid bike that I could grow into and not have to mortgage something in the process. This bike is it! Tried Specialized, but the headshock (and the looks) of the cannondale made the F300 my choice. Don't buy a any other bike until you have tried a cannondale.

Strengths:    Beautifull frame and paint Both works of art. sram shifters and derailer are top notch. Great brakes!(although they go out of tune easyly)Really love the Headshok!! Tires also
excellent!

Weaknesses:    seat and pedels (replaced same day of purchase) Need to tune brakes alot.

Bottom Line:
This is my first TOP NOTCH mountian bike. If you want a killer frame with Beautifull paint, and some nice componetry
you cant go wrong with the f300.The Headshok is different
than everybody elses and MUCH BETTER. Cannondales are not cheep but are well worth it! The frame is a work of art!
and its worth upgrading the componetry in the future.

Strengths:    Frame geometry & squared chainstays and love that oversized headtube!

Weaknesses:    Lockout needed on P-Bone suspension.

Bottom Line:
A bicycle even Ricky Ricardo would love! When times get tough and the little gremlins are out to hurt your feelings, This bike does the trick! The frame almost looks carbon fiber. I would think that this bike would do just fine for the poor or the rich. Cheers, Eric

Strengths:    Let's put it this way Large Man on two wheels whose skills are in dire need of improvement, and the bike doesn't seem to mind a bit. Frustrated with the frequency in need for rear alignment and would like a crisper shift arrangment Bought it (paying a little more than I needed to) for a base on which to build and haven't been disappointed yet!!!!

Weaknesses:    A little price in comparison (but worth it!)

Bottom Line:

Bought it (paying a little more than I needed to) for a base on which to build and dispite it all haven't been disappointed yet!!!! And it goes without saying, if your in the market you've got to give the HeadShock system a demo!!
