Strengths:    As Derek said it's a great entry level biek that can take a decent ammont of damage. The XT rear does surprise everyone. Came with nice Manitou Spyders.

Weaknesses:    The rear wheel needs to be stronger. The adjustment knob on my Spyder came off, and I've heard that this was a problem on many of the Spyders. I'm a bit displeased with the Dia-Compe brakes, they need adjustment after every ride, but do there job. I found that upon any impact if they are nocked out of place, the springs didn't bring them back to teh center, damn static friction!

Bottom Line:
I really liked the colour of 1999 model, not much of a fan of teh silver 2000's, but oh well. If you are looking at getting into trail riding, and still need to ride to school, then this bike is pretty good. It'll take some abuse as long as you treat it well.

Strengths:
Inexpensive, entry level front suspension bike. Relatively tough (esp. frame). XT rear derailer. Great company for Vancouverites.

Weaknesses:
Heavy (roughly 30lbs). Very low grade brake set, and rims/hubs.

Bottom Line:
I rode the heck out of this bike in only 3 months riding on some pretty hard core downhill trails (SouthWestern BC), and the bike couldn't really take it. I must have trued the wheels 8 or 9 times. It's got a flashy XT rear derailer, but that's all for show (I actually broke it a month ago and put LX on), as the rest of the comps are pretty low grade. The steel frame was actually a nice ride, and gave me enough flex (I'm not really woried about weight). Even though I realize I was expecting too much from an entry level bike with average comps, I'll still say it was a pretty good ride from a great Vancouver based company.
